    Machine learning from crowds a systematic review of its applications

    Crowdsourcing opens the door to solving a wide variety of problems that previ-ously were unfeasible in the field of machine learning, allowing us to obtain rela-tively low cost labeled data in a small amount of time. However, due to theuncertain quality of labelers, the data to deal with are sometimes unreliable, forcingpractitioners to collect information redundantly, which poses new challenges in thefield. Despite these difficulties, many applications of machine learning usingcrowdsourced data have recently been published that achieved state of the artresults in relevant problems. We have analyzed these applications following a sys-tematic methodology, classifying them into different fields of study, highlightingseveral of their characteristics and showing the recent interest in the use of crowd-sourcing for machine learning. We also identify several exciting research linesbased on the problems that remain unsolved to foster future research in this field

    A Comprehensive Scoping Review of Bayesian Networks in Healthcare: Past, Present and Future

    No comprehensive review of Bayesian networks (BNs) in healthcare has been published in the past, making it difficult to organize the research contributions in the present and identify challenges and neglected areas that need to be addressed in the future. This unique and novel scoping review of BNs in healthcare provides an analytical framework for comprehensively characterizing the domain and its current state. The review shows that: (1) BNs in healthcare are not used to their full potential; (2) a generic BN development process is lacking; (3) limitations exists in the way BNs in healthcare are presented in the literature, which impacts understanding, consensus towards systematic methodologies, practice and adoption of BNs; and (4) a gap exists between having an accurate BN and a useful BN that impacts clinical practice. This review empowers researchers and clinicians with an analytical framework and findings that will enable understanding of the need to address the problems of restricted aims of BNs, ad hoc BN development methods, and the lack of BN adoption in practice. To map the way forward, the paper proposes future research directions and makes recommendations regarding BN development methods and adoption in practice

    DrugSemantics: A corpus for Named Entity Recognition in Spanish Summaries of Product Characteristics

    For the healthcare sector, it is critical to exploit the vast amount of textual health-related information. Nevertheless, healthcare providers have difficulties to benefit from such quantity of data during pharmacotherapeutic care. The problem is that such information is stored in different sources and their consultation time is limited. In this context, Natural Language Processing techniques can be applied to efficiently transform textual data into structured information so that it could be used in critical healthcare applications, being of help for physicians in their daily workload, such as: decision support systems, cohort identification, patient management, etc. Any development of these techniques requires annotated corpora. However, there is a lack of such resources in this domain and, in most cases, the few ones available concern English. This paper presents the definition and creation of DrugSemantics corpus, a collection of Summaries of Product Characteristics in Spanish. It was manually annotated with pharmacotherapeutic named entities, detailed in DrugSemantics annotation scheme. Annotators were a Registered Nurse (RN) and two students from the Degree in Nursing. The quality of DrugSemantics corpus has been assessed by measuring its annotation reliability (overall F = 79.33% [95%CI: 78.35–80.31]), as well as its annotation precision (overall P=94.65%P=94.65% [95%CI: 94.11–95.19]). Besides, the gold-standard construction process is described in detail. In total, our corpus contains more than 2000 named entities, 780 sentences and 226,729 tokens.     Factors Influencing Customer Satisfaction towards E-shopping in Malaysia

    Online shopping or e-shopping has changed the world of business and quite a few people have decided to work with these features. What their primary concerns precisely and the responses from the globalisation are the competency of incorporation while doing their businesses. E-shopping has also increased substantially in Malaysia in recent years. The rapid increase in the e-commerce industry in Malaysia has created the demand to emphasize on how to increase customer satisfaction while operating in the e-retailing environment. It is very important that customers are satisfied with the website, or else, they would not return. Therefore, a crucial fact to look into is that companies must ensure that their customers are satisfied with their purchases that are really essential from the ecommerce’s point of view. With is in mind, this study aimed at investigating customer satisfaction towards e-shopping in Malaysia. A total of 400 questionnaires were distributed among students randomly selected from various public and private universities located within Klang valley area. Total 369 questionnaires were returned, out of which 341 questionnaires were found usable for further analysis. Finally, SEM was employed to test the hypotheses. This study found that customer satisfaction towards e-shopping in Malaysia is to a great extent influenced by ease of use, trust, design of the website, online security and e-service quality.     Systematic Approaches for Telemedicine and Data Coordination for COVID-19 in Baja California, Mexico

Our model is based on human-centric design factors and cross disciplinary collaborations for scalable data-driven enablement of smartphone, cellular, and video Teleconsul-tation technologies to link hospitals, clinics, and emergency medical services for point-of-care assessments of COVID testing, and for subsequent treatment and quar-antine decisions. A multidisciplinary team was rapidly created, in cooperation with different institutions, including: the Autonomous University of Baja California, the Ministry of Health, the Command, Communication and Computer Control Center of the Ministry of the State of Baja California (C4), Colleges of Medicine, and the College of Psychologists. Our objective is to provide information to the public and to evaluate COVID-19 in real time and to track, regional, municipal, and state-wide data in real time that informs supply chains and resource allocation with the anticipation of a surge in COVID-19 cases. RESUMEN Proporcionamos un modelo para la implementación sistemática de la telemedicina dentro de un gran centro de evaluación de COVID-19 en el área de Baja California, México. Nuestro modelo se basa en factores de diseño centrados en el ser humano y colaboraciones interdisciplinarias para la habilitación escalable basada en datos de tecnologías de teleconsulta de teléfonos inteligentes, celulares y video para vincular hospitales, clínicas y servicios médicos de emergencia para evaluaciones de COVID en el punto de atención. pruebas, y para el tratamiento posterior y decisiones de cuarentena. Rápidamente se creó un equipo multidisciplinario, en cooperación con diferentes instituciones, entre ellas: la Universidad Autónoma de Baja California, la Secretaría de Salud, el Centro de Comando, Comunicaciones y Control Informático. de la Secretaría del Estado de Baja California (C4), Facultades de Medicina y Colegio de Psicólogos.
