At the time of IBGE, the Brazilian statistical activity in three social-historical periods. The challenges of the present moment

The Brazilian statistical activity at IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) time, according to a social-history approach, can be identified by three periods: around 1936 to around 1966, around 1966 to around 1996 and from that time on. Indeed, chronologies can be seductive, but it requires special care: considering as successive situations the ones which are many times simultaneous is a risky attitude. That is the case of the division here used and the explanation for the additional “around” before the years is in order to mitigate misunderstandings but it does not solve completely the problem as one mentioned time may come from a previous one. In other words, the chronological borders between periods tend to be nebulous.

open1The work examines the different healthcare contexts in which innovation has been applied, or could be applied, resulting in cost containment and increased quality and efficiency of medical care services. In addition, the different factors influencing the adoption of information technologies in the national healthcare systems of the European Union are discussed, in particular as regards the existence of structural barriers. Innovation is defined as the creation of something still not existing, to be uses for new products and services or for more efficient processes and is therefore linked to change, because innovation requires change. Information technology (IT) is described as the acquisition, processing and storage of data by a computing product. This work qualitatively analyses use cases, which are in turn based on quantitative research methodologies (i.e. performance indicators), commonly based on the manipulation of independent variables to generate statistically analyzable data, which guarantees objectivity and provides greater data reliability. Studies have been conducted to observe current trends in access to information technology across different age groups, to detect the existence of correlations between Internet users and online healthcare information searches. In this work, several Italian initiatives for the diffusion of IT applications in the healthcare sector have been analyzed. Some of the ongoing pilot projects include the collaboration of the Politecnico di Milano, through the establishment of the Laboratory of Biomedical Technologies (TBMLab), and the Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa, to carry out research on eHealth activities and to promote the development of home automation systems for patients with disabilities. The HHC-MOTES model should also be noted, which aims to analyze the implementation of IT in the healthcare (HHC) sector from the point of view of sustainability in the management, organizational, technological, environmental and social fields (MOTES).openRemondino, MarcoRemondino, Marc

Smart healthcare, an integral element of connected living, plays a pivotal role in fulfilling a fundamental human need. The burgeoning field of smart healthcare is poised to generate substantial revenue in the foreseeable future. Its multifaceted framework encompasses vital components such as the Internet of Things (IoT), medical sensors, artificial intelligence (AI), edge and cloud computing, as well as next-generation wireless communication technologies. Many research papers discuss smart healthcare and healthcare more broadly. Numerous nations have strategically deployed the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) alongside other measures to combat the propagation of COVID-19. This combined effort has not only enhanced the safety of frontline healthcare workers but has also augmented the overall efficacy in managing the pandemic, subsequently reducing its impact on human lives and mortality rates. Remarkable strides have been made in both applications and technology within the IoMT domain. However, it is imperative to acknowledge that this technological advancement has introduced certain challenges, particularly in the realm of security. The rapid and extensive adoption of IoMT worldwide has magnified issues related to security and privacy. These encompass a spectrum of concerns, ranging from replay attacks, man-in-the-middle attacks, impersonation, privileged insider threats, remote hijacking, password guessing, and denial of service (DoS) attacks, to malware incursions. In this comprehensive review, we undertake a comparative analysis of existing strategies designed for the detection and prevention of malware in IoT environments.Comment: 7 page

Good agricultural practices (GAPs) are an indispensable tool for risk management due to the close relationship between agriculture and climate, as well as the climate variability currently being experienced. The implementation of these tools, however, involves fostering innovation, increasing knowledge and giving stakeholders, small producers in particular, a holistic view, so that they may improve their production systems, increase their resilience, and ensure their sustainability.Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture, Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuári

    Get PDF
Expanding commercial and military applications crowd the wireless communications frequency band, creating a critical need to expand the band to higher frequencies. The application of newly discovered high velocity pseudo surface acoustic waves (HVPSAWs), has the potential of satisfying the high frequency requirements of the next generation of wireless communications. This CAREER proposal involves an integrated research and education plan for high radio frequency (RF) microwave acoustic devices. The research objective is to identify piezoelectric materials and specific orientations in which HVPSAWs exist, and to design, fabricate, and test prototype HVPSAW filters. Specific research tasks are: (i) search for piezoelectric materials and orientations in which HVPSAWs exist; (ii) characterize theoretical mode propagation; (iii) determine HVPSAW phase velocity, propagation loss, temperature behavior, electromechanical coupling, and power flow angle; (iv) experimentally verify the theoretically predicted HVPSAW properties; develop a theoretical model for the HVPSAW interdigital transducer (IDT) structure, and its experimental verification; (v) model and characterize integral HVPSAW filters structures, such as reflectors, multistrip couplers, guiding structures; (vi) integrate HVPSAW structure components into HVPSAW filter design; and (vii) fabricate and test prototype HVPSAW filters. The educational objective is to provide a learning experience in a fast moving state-of-the-art area to students ranging from high school to graduate level. The learning experience will range from team projects at the high school level to theses at the graduate level. In summary this project will not only provide the necessary research to realize the next generation of wireless communications but also educate students in a very relevant high need technology area which has applications ranging from cellular phones to high speed communication and signal processing systems

The COVID-19 pandemic greatly impacted the health of our community. There were a disproportionate number of deaths in long-term care facilities. The purpose of this DNP project was to prepare COVID-19 Strike Team members to educate long-term care facility staff about evidence-based knowledge and practices which reduced health, economic, and personnel burden during the COVID-19 pandemic. An educational in-service provided resources for facility managers to control outbreaks. The DNP Student Project Team evaluated the Strike Team’s proper PPE use via virtual return demonstrations. A Qualtrics Survey gathered pertinent demographic data, such as whether the Strike Team member could locate PPE supplies, determine adequate PPE inventory, and have time for proper PPE use. Results showed a 90% implementation completion rate, with 100% of respondents reported that implementation improved knowledge and promoted confidence with proper PPE use. Furthermore, 78% of respondents found adequate PPE supplies, 56% reported the ability to locate PPE supplies, and 67% were confident with adding proper PPE use to the daily routine. One recommendation for PPE time management promoted collaborative efforts based on CDC guidelines for proper PPE use. Other recommendations included a dedicated COVID-19 staff per shift, temporarily quarantined COVID-19 positive residents, and bundle care with daily living activities to limit exposure. The DNP implementation streamlined training for COVID-19 Strike Teams to support long-term care facility staff, increased staff confidence during outbreaks to benefit resident populations, and finally, increased the long-term care facility administration’s ability to manage future outbreaks.D.N.P
