    Get PDF
The purpose of this research is to design a web-based online booking service system application to become a structured booking service data management system. The information obtained will be developed towards computerization through the internet network, which so far is still done conventionally. Data management that can be done by the admin is managing admin data, customer data, booking data, mechanical data, page data and contact data. This application also supports the creation of payment invoices. This web-based online booking service system application has two application interfaces, one for the customer and the other for the administrator. Based on the results of tests carried out both offline and online, this online booking service system application can process booking service data and this application successfully displays information about car services, both booking packages, additional packages, estimated costs and payment invoices. Based on testing using a questionnaire on a web-based online booking service system application, the results obtained are that this application is quite helpful in managing vehicle service booking data and this application can assist the repair shop in providing information related to vehicle service to customers

Dynamic Mashup Interfaces for Information Systems using Widgets-as-a-Service

Web Information Systems intend to adapt to the users’ preferences as new data available on the network. In this regard, the composition and reuse of services which are involved in a web application is an interesting research topic, since these techniques pursue the dynamic construction of applications that can be adapted at design or run time. As for the visualization of these applications, web user interfaces play a key role, serving as a connection point between users and the rest of the system. This article proposes an architecture for specification, storage, management and visualization of components, built from widgets complying with the W3C recommendation, for making web user interfaces. We follow a service-based approach for the interface deployment and communication management, introducing the concept of Widgets-as-a-Service (WaaS). To illustrate this proposal, an example of widget-based Web Information System is shown

Trust and reputation policy-based mechanisms for self-protection in autonomic communications

Currently, there is an increasing tendency to migrate the management of communications and information systems onto the Web. This is making many traditional service support models obsolete. In addition, current security mechanisms are not sufficiently robust to protect each management system and/or subsystem from web-based intrusions, malware, and hacking attacks. This paper presents research challenges in autonomic management to provide self-protection mechanisms and tools by using trust and reputation concepts based on policy-based management to decentralize management decisions. This work also uses user-based reputation mechanisms to help enforce trust management in pervasive and communications services. The scope of this research is founded in social models, where the application of trust and reputation applied in communication systems helps detect potential users as well as hackers attempting to corrupt management operations and services. These so-called “cheating services” act as “attacks”, altering the performance and the security in communication systems by consumption of computing or network resources unnecessarily

Recent advances in industrial wireless sensor networks towards efficient management in IoT

With the accelerated development of Internet-of- Things (IoT), wireless sensor networks (WSN) are gaining importance in the continued advancement of information and communication technologies, and have been connected and integrated with Internet in vast industrial applications. However, given the fact that most wireless sensor devices are resource constrained and operate on batteries, the communication overhead and power consumption are therefore important issues for wireless sensor networks design. In order to efficiently manage these wireless sensor devices in a unified manner, the industrial authorities should be able to provide a network infrastructure supporting various WSN applications and services that facilitate the management of sensor-equipped real-world entities. This paper presents an overview of industrial ecosystem, technical architecture, industrial device management standards and our latest research activity in developing a WSN management system. The key approach to enable efficient and reliable management of WSN within such an infrastructure is a cross layer design of lightweight and cloud-based RESTful web service

Peer to peer (P2P) and cloud computing on infrastructure as a service (IaaS) performance analysis

The resources of information technology and the availability of services on non-cloud network systems are limited. This constitutes problems for companies, especially in the efficient management of information technology. The high investment in infrastructure procurement is an obstacle in building centralized systems, including the adoption of cloud computing through Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), as an elective solution. This research aims to analyze the performance of cloud servers on IaaS services using the parameters of cloud service availability, resource utilization, and throughput transfer which were implemented in companies engaged in the toll road concession sector. Furthermore, the results are expected to be a reference in supporting company decisions/policies related to cloud system adoption. The methodology involved the Network Development Life Cycle (NDLC), a system constituted by 6 (six) stages of management, namely user, proxy server, database, web service, monitoring service, and Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). The results of cloud service availability indicate that the cloud system provides service availability (system interface, broad network access, and resource pooling). Furthermore, cloud systems have a significant performance on resource utilization (CPU) and throughput transfer parameters, while non-cloud systems only excel in response time and resource utilization (Memory) parameters. The overall result analysis based on this research scenario showed that the cloud system provides services according to user needs and has a better speed in data transmission, but has shortcomings in response time

Capturing value in the service economy

The benefits of specialization have been driving the rise of the service economy and pushing capability frontiers and economic growth. In service economies, almost any activity, asset, and skill can be bought on competitive markets, making it harder to build competitive advantage on those inputs. Therefore, firms have to carefully decide what to own in order to capture value, and they need to prioritize investments in those assets while outsourcing almost everything else. Service businesses capture value by connecting resource markets with service markets, and we identified three types of assets that allow a firm to connect markets and capture value in the process. They are: (1) resource-based assets shaping capabilities and capacities of services; (2) platform-based assets connecting resource owners with users, allowing to generate network effects, critical mass, volume and/or liquidity; and (3) market-based assets providing the interface for interaction with customers. We propose further three key dimensions that shape each service-asset type: Physical capital, intellectual capital and social capital including service climate as a framework for a typology of service assets. We identify further two domains of service management that allow firms to capture value: (1) business models for designing the architecture and "Gestalt" of value creation; and (2) the effective management of an integrated web of processes and activities. We discuss implications for management and further research

Digital technology and governance in transition: The case of the British Library

Comment on the organizational consequences of the new information and communications technologies (ICTs) is pervaded by a powerful imagery of disaggregation and a tendency for ?virtual? forms of production to be seen as synonymous with the ?end? of bureaucracy. This paper questions the underlying assumptions of the ?virtual organization?, highlighting the historically enduring, diversified character of the bureaucratic form. The paper then presents case study findings on the web-based access to information resources now being provided by the British Library (BL). The case study evidence produces two main findings. First, radically decentralised virtual forms of service delivery are heavily dependent on new forms of capacity-building and information aggregation. Second, digital technology is embedded in an inherently contested and contradictory context of institutional change. Current developments in the management and control of digital rights are consistent with the commodification of the public sphere. However, the evidence also suggests that scholarly access to information resources is being significantly influenced by the ?information society? objectives of the BL and other institutional players within the network of UK research libraries

PT Riyad Network Multi Teknologi is a company that provides internet services, commonly known as an ISP (Internet Service Provider), in Banyuwangi. This company uses MikroTIK as network management, which has an SFP interface. Through this SFP, the fiber optic network is connected to a router in their network. Therefore, traffic monitoring is needed to maintain and monitor the condition of the internet services provided. In addition, this company also does not have a notification system if there is a problem on their network. This research designs and implements a monitoring system through an SFP interface combined with a troubleshooting notification system. This monitoring requirement is very necessary for continuous maintenance or monitoring of the network, so research on the SFP Interface Monitoring System on Web-Based MikroTIK Routers at this company will be very useful. This monitoring system was created using the PHP framework codeigniter 3. The purpose of this system is to make it easier to see traffic monitor data and Rx/Tx power SFP. Moreover, the results and testing of the system-built show that the system can monitor well the problem occur in the network beside that the notification can inform to the maintenance team when problem occur
