The Installation of Prince Mangkubumi Performing Javanese History

Representation of Javanese history in performance plays an important role in the self-characterization of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. It legitimizes the power of the rulers and strengthens the identity of the city and its inhabitants. The audiences know the stories and this is part of the fun. In the study of oral traditions it is essential to take these performances into account. In the stories featuring famous political figures from the history of Mataram and Yogyakarta, there is an intricate relationship between the written and the spoken word: all are based on both oral and written traditions and are performed ‘orally\u27. Prince Mangkubumi, who was to become the first sultan of Yogyakarta in 1755, is one of the historical personages who are protagonists in various performance genres. Focusing on the tale of Prince Mangkubumi\u27s accession to the throne, I shall reflect on how the televised kethoprak version combines a (written) text with a mediated (aural/visual) performance to present the story

HMCS \u3cem\u3ePrince Robert\u3c/em\u3e: The Career of an Armed Merchant Cruiser

HMCS Prince Robert was one of three identical ships used as armed merchant cruisers (AMCs) by the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) during the Second World War. On the eve of war, Canada had but six modern destroyers, with no prospect of additional ships for some time. To fill the desperate need for escorts, the Naval Service clutched at Prince Robert and her two sister liners as an expedient in a time of crisis; yet, by war’s end she would be one of the most sophisticated ships of the RCN. Much like the citizen sailors who mannered her, she signed up for the duration, saw service worldwide, and returned to civilian life much changed by the experience of war. The career of the Prince Robert shows quite effectively the changing roles of the AMC during the Second World War and the vital niche that these ships filled. This account of the Prince Robert has three main objectives: to detail the genesis of the AMC in its Canadian context; to explain the roles and missions that AMCs were expected to fulfil; and, to show how the Prince Robert, as an example of her class, fulfilled them. Further, the story of the Prince Robert’s war service, in Canadian waters and abroad, sheds light on the policies of the Naval Service, how the RCN handled the technical challenges of the widening war, and how it cooperated with allied navies. For the Prince Robert was unique among RCN ships: after her initial conversion, she was radically refitted twice; her mission changed totally in the middle of the war; and she was the most travelled of any RCN vessel. If for no other reason, these facts make her noteworthy

Movie is one of the branches of literary works that many enthusiasts still exist. Movies in the current era are experiencing significant development, starting from the genre, the technology used, the storyline, the values contained therein, etc. Not only that, but movies also have various benefits besides entertaining the audience, namely educating and providing inspirational values. Because of some of the reasons above, the writer is interested in research on movies and their moral values. This research is entitled "An Analysis of Moral Values In Children's Animated Movie "The Little Prince" By Mark Osborne For Education." Researchers used the movie The Little Prince as an object in this study. In this study, the writer wants to answer and discuss related to two research problems related to moral values in The Little Prince movie, namely "What are the kinds of moral values found in the children's animated movie The Little Prince?" and "What are the implications of the children's animated movie The Little Prince for education?". Then related to the purpose of this research is to find the types of moral values found in the movie and know the implications of moral values for education. This research uses qualitative methods to explain objects in depth and emphasize an analysis or description. The writer uses primary and secondary data as the source of this research. The primary source is obtained through watching the downloaded movie, and the secondary source comes from valid sources from the internet related to The Little Prince movie. After analyzing this movie, the writer found eight moral values: kind-hearted, honesty, courage, politeness, discipline, responsibility, friendship, and love. The writer hopes this research can contribute to and influence readers, who can then share or apply the information in their daily lives

Shillony: Paper examines how Japan's imperial dynasty dependent on the male line of succession has lasted so long and analyses how it will overcome its present difficulties. An Advisory Panel was created to recommend future policy to the Koizumi cabinet but its report in 2005 was criticized. The impasse over the Panel's report was broken by the birth of a son in September 2006 to Princess Kiko, wife of Prince Akishino Best: Paper explains why the royal relationship with Japan became so important to Britain. During the Anglo-Japanese Alliance (1902-23), relations between the two Courts were cordial. The ending of the alliance did not lead to immediate substantial change. But as political relations deteriorated in the 'thirties, Court diplomacy did not yield important results, though officials continued experimenting.Shillony: Japanese Emperor, Japanese reigning empresses, concubines, collateral princely families, Imperial Household Laws, Koizumi, Advisory Panel on Succession, Crown Prince Akihito, Princess Masako, Prince Hisahito.Best: Anglo-Japanese Alliance, Order of the Garter, Emperor Hirohito, Prince of Wales, Prince Takamatsu, Prince Chichibu.

Rapid, ultra low coverage copy number profiling of cell-free DNA as a precision oncology screening strategy.

Current cell-free DNA (cfDNA) next generation sequencing (NGS) precision oncology workflows are typically limited to targeted and/or disease-specific applications. In advanced cancer, disease burden and cfDNA tumor content are often elevated, yielding unique precision oncology opportunities. We sought to demonstrate the utility of a pan-cancer, rapid, inexpensive, whole genome NGS of cfDNA approach (PRINCe) as a precision oncology screening strategy via ultra-low coverage (~0.01x) tumor content determination through genome-wide copy number alteration (CNA) profiling. We applied PRINCe to a retrospective cohort of 124 cfDNA samples from 100 patients with advanced cancers, including 76 men with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC), enabling cfDNA tumor content approximation and actionable focal CNA detection, while facilitating concordance analyses between cfDNA and tissue-based NGS profiles and assessment of cfDNA alteration associations with mCRPC treatment outcomes. Therapeutically relevant focal CNAs were present in 42 (34%) cfDNA samples, including 36 of 93 (39%) mCRPC patient samples harboring AR amplification. PRINCe identified pre-treatment cfDNA CNA profiles facilitating disease monitoring. Combining PRINCe with routine targeted NGS of cfDNA enabled mutation and CNA assessment with coverages tuned to cfDNA tumor content. In mCRPC, genome-wide PRINCe cfDNA and matched tissue CNA profiles showed high concordance (median Pearson correlation = 0.87), and PRINCe detectable AR amplifications predicted reduced time on therapy, independent of therapy type (Kaplan-Meier log-rank test, chi-square = 24.9, p < 0.0001). Our screening approach enables robust, broadly applicable cfDNA-based precision oncology for patients with advanced cancer through scalable identification of therapeutically relevant CNAs and pre-/post-treatment genomic profiles, enabling cfDNA- or tissue-based precision oncology workflow optimization

Voices: Silences and Sexuality in 19th-Century Women's Slave Narratives

In my paper, I look at the connections between silences and sexuality in 19th-century women's slave narratives, focusing on Mary Prince's The History of Mary Prince: A West Indian Slave, Related by Herself and Harriet Jacobs's Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. The silences in these narratives were enforced by notions of chastity at the time, as well as the immediate danger posed against Prince and Jacobs. While sexual labor was very much a part of both British and American slavery, instances of sexual abuse in women's slave narratives were encoded in the language within women's slave narratives. It is these encoded scenes that I analyze in my senior thesis, examining the strategies used by both Prince and Jacobs to convey instances of sexual abuse experienced by themselves and other enslaved people. I aim to build a theory as to how these instances were communicated in each narrative, as well as look at similarities in how both texts approached the issue. No embargoAcademic Major: Englis
