The class of the problems solved, the system structure, the operation with the interface modules for input data entry and the information about DM’s local preferences, as well as the operation with the interface modules for visualization of the current and final solutions for the two systems MKA-1 and MKO-1 are discussed

    Este trabajo está dedicado al estudio de la situación económica y financiera de las empresas aseguradoras en España. El interés por este tema se centra en la evolución acelerada que la actividad aseguradora ha experimentado en los últimos años. Hemos de tener en cuenta que un aspecto fundamental de las aseguradoras es el de infundir seguridad a sus asegurados, si bien, las empresas aseguradoras no pueden proporcionar seguridad a menos que ellas mismas sean seguras. Para realizar este estudio hemos de considerar diversos aspectos que intervienen en el normal desarrollo de la actividad tales como la solvencia, los costes y la rentabilidad, aspectos estos que medimos a través de ratios financieros. Dada la diversidad de ratios disponibles, el problema de la evaluación adquiere una dimensión multicriterio que abordamos con el método PROMETHEE, metodología que permite sintetizar la información disponible sobre el sector

    APPLICATION OF GIS AND MATHEMATICAL MODELING IN MARITIME CRISIS SITUATIONS

    This paper aims to propose a decision support system for maritime crisis situation, due to fact that Croatia has decided to implement Directive 2002/59/EC to define places of refuge for ships in need of assistance off their coasts, or to develop techniques for providing assistance to such ships. In order to fulfill this Directive it is necessary to build an effective Decision Support System (DSS) based on GIS and mathematical modeling. The basic module of the proposed system is GIS, for all levels of DSS, that comprise information subsystems about spatial and other data and serves the other modules with data and information. Starting points for analysis are shipping corridors, and 380 potential locations for places of refuge designated in the official navigational pilot book. Multicriteria analysis, with GIS-generated input data, has been used to establish "worthiness" of a place of refuge for each ship category, taking into account kinds of accident. Proposed mathematical models facilitate optimal usage of "available intervention resources"

    Election of Water Resources Management Entity Using a Multi-Criteria Decision (MCD) Method in Salta Province (Argentine)

    At present, the water resources are a strategic element each time more necessary and limited becoming a source of conflicts. For that, it is fundamental to create an independent and competent entity with good reputation and social acceptation. This entity must be able to obtain, store and process all data dispersed in different entities creating a network for these purposes. Finally, it must be able to organize different branches between the government and the final users. Using one of the wellknown Multicriteria Decision Methods(MCDM) with several realistic alternatives and several criteria identified in expert seminars in Salta and Madrid, we have obtained hopeful results and more recently new modifications introduced have generated better results

    The paper presents a multicriteria decision support system, called MultiDecision-2, which consists of two independent parts - MKA-2 subsystem and MKO-2 subsystem. MultiDecision-2 software system supports the decision makers (DMs) in the solving process of different problems of multicriteria analysis and linear (continues and integer) problems of multicriteria optimization. The two subsystems MKA-2 and MKO-2 of of MultiDecision-2 are briefly described in the paper in the terms of the class of the problems being solved, the system structure, the operation with the interface modules for input data entry and the information about DM’s local preferences, as well as the operation with the interface modules for visualization of the current and final solutions

    Integrated Evaluation of Hybrid Water Supply Systems Using a PROMETHEE-GAIA Approach

    There are pressures on existing centralized water infrastructures in urban centers which justify the search for alternatives. An increasingly important alternative is to shift from centralized to hybrid systems, often in response to climate variability and demographic changes. In a hybrid system, water is supplied and discharged through a mix of centralized and decentralized systems. There is usually no single objective that justifies the choice of hybrid water systems, but they typically are justified based on the consideration of a number of different criteria in order to evaluate the overall quality of service provision. The most important criteria include meeting water demand, as well as reducing demand for fresh water and instead using local alternative water supplies. Integration of multiple objectives to evaluate the hybrid water supply systems can be accomplished by multi-criteria decision aid techniques. This paper evaluates a number of hybrid water supply scenarios using a case study based on the Northern Growth Area of Melbourne, Australia. It uses the Preference Ranking Organization METHod for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE) and Geometrical Analysis for Interactive Decision Aid (GAIA), one of the multi-criteria decision-making methods through D-Sight software, to rank the hybrid water supply scenarios, and this ranking is validated by means of sensitivity analysis. The centralized system combined with stormwater harvesting and the centralized system combined with treated wastewater and rainwater tanks yielded the first and second most preferred scenarios, while the centralized water supply system combined with treated wastewater yielded the worst hybrid water supply option

    Chaco area is situated in the Province of Salta at North West of Argentine. The desertification is a big problem. In order to mitigate the problem it is necessary to take into account not only pedologic criteria but the economical, environmental, cultural and sociological criteria. Six sub zones have been established following previous studies. Eight criteria and six alternatives have been introduced in the model.     Sectorial evaluation and characterization of internal marketing orientation through multicriteria analysis

    This research carries out a comparative analysis of the Internal Market Orientation (IMO) to a sample of small and medium enterprise companies, which has been divided into nine groups based on their business sectors. Applying the statistical technique of structural equations, the coefficients of four IMO inputs in each busi- ness sector are obtained. Next, the PROMETHEE multicriteria technique is applied to obtain a composite indicator of the IMO implementation of each business sector. The value of the composite indicator together with the GAIA plane allow to dis- tinguish the differences of the IMO profiles, their strengths and their weaknesses. The results show the divergences in the IMO inputs according to the sector, which is evidence that the business sector is a predictor of the IMO implementation of a company.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBU
