Cost and Performance-Based Resource Selection Scheme for Asynchronous Replicated System in Utility-Based Computing Environment
A resource selection problem for asynchronous replicated systems in utility-based computing environment is addressed in this paper. The needs for a special attention on this problem lies on the fact that most of the existing replication scheme in this computing system whether implicitly support synchronous replication and/or only consider read-only job. The problem is undoubtedly complex to be solved as two main issues need to be concerned simultaneously, i.e. 1) the difficulty on predicting the performance of the resources in terms of job response time, and 2) an efficient mechanism must be employed in order to measure the trade-off between the performance and the monetary cost incurred on resources so that minimum cost is preserved while providing low job response time. Therefore, a simple yet efficient algorithm that deals with the complexity of resource selection problem in utility-based computing systems is proposed in this paper. The problem is formulated as a Multi Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem. The advantages of the algorithm are two-folds. On one fold, it hides the complexity of resource selection process without neglecting important components that affect job response time. The difficulty on estimating job response time is captured by representing them in terms of different QoS criteria levels at each resource. On the other fold, this representation further relaxed the complexity in measuring the trade-offs between the performance and the monetary cost incurred on resources. The experiments proved that our proposed resource selection scheme achieves an appealing result with good system performance and low monetary cost as compared to existing algorithms
Neutrosophic Multi-Criteria Decision Making
The notion of a neutrosophic quadruple BCK/BCI-number is considered in the first article (“Neutrosophic Quadruple BCK/BCI-Algebras”, by Young Bae Jun, Seok-Zun Song, Florentin Smarandache, and Hashem Bordbar), and a neutrosophic quadruple BCK/BCI-algebra, which consists of neutrosophic quadruple BCK/BCI-numbers, is constructed. Several properties are investigated, and a (positive implicative) ideal in a neutrosophic quadruple BCK-algebra and a closed ideal in a neutrosophic quadruple BCI-algebra are studied. Given subsets A and B of a BCK/BCI-algebra, the set NQ(A,B), which consists of neutrosophic quadruple BCK/BCInumbers with a condition, is established. Conditions for the set NQ(A,B) to be a (positive implicative) ideal of a neutrosophic quadruple BCK-algebra are provided, and conditions for the set NQ(A,B) to be a (closed) ideal of a neutrosophic quadruple BCI-algebra are given. Techniques for the order of preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and elimination and choice translating reality (ELECTRE) are widely used methods to solve multicriteria decision-making problems. In the second research article (“Decision-Making with Bipolar Neutrosophic TOPSIS and Bipolar Neutrosophic ELECTRE-I”), Muhammad Akram, Shumaiza, and Florentin Smarandache present the bipolar neutrosophic TOPSIS method and the bipolar neutrosophic ELECTRE-I method to solve such problems. The authors use the revised closeness degree to rank the alternatives in the bipolar neutrosophic TOPSIS method. The researchers describe the bipolar neutrosophic TOPSIS method and the bipolar neutrosophic ELECTRE-I method by flow charts, also solving numerical examples by the proposed methods and providing a comparison of these methods. In the third article (“Interval Neutrosophic Sets with Applications in BCK/BCI-Algebra”, by Young Bae Jun, Seon Jeong Kim and Florentin Smarandache), the notion of (T(i,j),I(k,l),F(m,n))-interval neutrosophic subalgebra in BCK/BCI-algebra is introduced for i,j,k,l,m,n infoNumber 1,2,3,4, and properties and relations are investigated. The notion of interval neutrosophic length of an interval neutrosophic set is also introduced, and the related properties are investigated

Dynamics under Uncertainty: Modeling Simulation and Complexity
The dynamics of systems have proven to be very powerful tools in understanding the behavior of different natural phenomena throughout the last two centuries. However, the attributes of natural systems are observed to deviate from their classical states due to the effect of different types of uncertainties. Actually, randomness and impreciseness are the two major sources of uncertainties in natural systems. Randomness is modeled by different stochastic processes and impreciseness could be modeled by fuzzy sets, rough sets, Dempster–Shafer theory, etc

Assessment of the agriculture supply chain risks for investments of agricultural small and mediumsized enterprises (SMEs) using the decision support model
A key challenge in responding to the emerging challenges in agri-food
supply chains is encouraging continued new investment. This is related
to the recognition that agricultural production is often a lengthy process
requiring ongoing investments that may not produce expected
returns for a prolonged period, thereby being highly sensitive tomarket
risks. Agricultural productions are generally susceptible to different serious
risks such as crop diseases, weather conditions, and pest infections.
Many practitioners in this domain, particularly small and medium-sized
enterprises (SMEs), have shifted toward digitalization to address such
problems. To help with this situation, the current paper develops an
integrated decision-making framework, with the Pythagorean fuzzy
sets (PFSs), the method for removal effects of criteria (MEREC), the ranksum
(RS) and the gained and Lost dominance score (GLDS) termed as
PF-MEREC-RS-GLDS approach. In this approach, the PF-MEREC-RS
method is applied to compute the subjective and objective weights of
the main risks to assess the agriculture supply chain for investments of
SMEs, and the PF-GLDS model is used to assess the preferences of
enterprises over different the main risks to assess of the agriculture supply
chain for investments of SMEs. An empirical case study is taken to
evaluate the main risks to assess the agriculture supply chain for SME
investments. Also, comparison and sensitivity investigation are made to
show the superiority of the developed framework
Multi-Objective and Multi-Attribute Optimisation for Sustainable Development Decision Aiding
Optimization is considered as a decision-making process for getting the most out of available resources for the best attainable results. Many real-world problems are multi-objective or multi-attribute problems that naturally involve several competing objectives that need to be optimized simultaneously, while respecting some constraints or involving selection among feasible discrete alternatives. In this Reprint of the Special Issue, 19 research papers co-authored by 88 researchers from 14 different countries explore aspects of multi-objective or multi-attribute modeling and optimization in crisp or uncertain environments by suggesting multiple-attribute decision-making (MADM) and multi-objective decision-making (MODM) approaches. The papers elaborate upon the approaches of state-of-the-art case studies in selected areas of applications related to sustainable development decision aiding in engineering and management, including construction, transportation, infrastructure development, production, and organization management
Evaluation of group decision making based on group preferences under a multi-criteria environment
Arrow’s impossibility theorem stated that no single group decision making (GDM) method is perfect, in other words, different GDM methods can produce different or even conflicting rankings. So, 1) how to evaluate GDM methods and 2) how to reconcile different or even conflicting rankings are two important and difficult problems in GDM process, which have not been fully studied. This paper aims to develop and propose a group decision-making consensus recognition model, named GDMCRM, to address these two problems in the evaluation of GDM methods under a multi-criteria environment in order to identify and achieve optimal group consensus. In this model, the ordinal and cardinal GDM methods are both implemented and studied in the process of evaluating the GDM methods. What’s more, this proposed model can reconcile different or even conflicting rankings generated by the eight GDM methods, based on empirical research on two real-life datasets: financial data of 12 urban commercial banks and annual report data of seven listed oil companies. The results indicate the proposed model not only can largely satisfy the group preferences of multiple stakeholders, but can also identify the best compromise solution from the opinion of all the participants involved in the group decision process.
