How is technology accepted by users? A review of technology acceptance models and theories

    No full text
This paper provides a literature review of the popular theories and models of technology acceptance of relevance to today’s technology developments in the 4E context. The original technology acceptance model (TAM) was derived from the theory of reasoned action and has since been developed and extended to include factors of age, gender, prior experience, ability, etc. It provides the framework to measure users’ perceptions of and intentions to use technology within and across organisations. Through research TAM has been empirically proven to be a robust model for understanding end-user adoption of technology and for examining the acceptance of new and developing technology by users with different characteristics in different organisations. The flexibility of TAM to be extended and modified to take into account other relevant factors makes it a powerful framework. This paper identifies the underpinning theories and potential application in a concise way and concludes that TAM has and will provide underpinning for further understanding of the pedagogy-technology-epistemology relationship in the development of technology use<br/

The aim of this study is to analyze the effects of Technology Readiness Index (TRI) toward Technology Perceptions that will determine the Actual Usage of e-KTP adoption by taking of 50 people which is the all the population as the respondents. This study investigates the relationship between the personality dimensions of TRI (Technology Readiness Index) and the system specific dimensions of TAM (Technology Acceptance Model). Multiple regressions was used to test the relationship between the dimensions of TRI and TAM. The results show that Optimism influence perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Innovativeness and Discomfort influence perceived ease of use. Further, perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use has a significant positive influence on actual usage

The main motives for this might be that students do not accept and usage the blackboard system suitably. This study will make involvement to the present body of TAM theory components and adding others external construct like “social learning, IT infrastructure & system excellence, and course quality”. Author focus on blackboard system use in Taibah University; data gathered from online survey of students using blackboard system. Then, the proposed model was investigated and tested, for analysis smart PLS was used. Keywords: Blackboard, technological acceptance model (TAM), partial least squares (PLS)

Differences in intention to use educational RSS feeds between Lebanese and British students: A multi‑group analysis based on the technology acceptance model

    Get PDF
Really Simple Syndication (RSS) offers a means for university students to receive timely updates from virtual learning environments. However, despite its utility, only 21% of home students surveyed at a university in Lebanon claim to have ever used the technology. To investigate whether national culture could be an influence on intention to use RSS, the survey was extended to British students in the UK. Using the Technology Adoption Model (TAM) as a research framework, 437 students responded to a questionnaire containing four constructs: behavioral intention to use; attitude towards benefit; perceived usefulness; and perceived ease of use. Principle components analysis and structural equation modelling were used to explore the psychometric qualities and utility of TAM in both contexts. The results show that adoption was significantly higher, but also modest, in the British context at 36%. Configural and metric invariance were fully supported, while scalar and factorial invariance were partially supported. Further analysis shows significant differences between perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use across the two contexts studied. Therefore, it is recommended that faculty demonstrate to students how educational RSS feeds can be used effectively to increase awareness and emphasize usefulness in both contexts
