    We are proud to share with you this special edition issue of the JDFSL. This year, JDFSL partnered with both the 6th International Conference on Digital Forensics and Cyber Crime (ICDF2C) and Systematic Approaches to Digital Forensic Engineering (SADFE)–two prominent conferences in our field that were co-hosted. Fifty-three papers were submitted, and the Technical Program Committee accepted only 17 after a rigorous review process

    Preface: This volume is the first published proceeding of the Utah Water Pollution Associations Annual Meeting. The Technical Program of the Annual Meeting was divided into five separate sessions. The program was developed to attract individuals concerned with management, design and operation of wastewater treatment facilities. Special emphsis was given to the design and operation of wastewater filtration devices. Unfortunately, four papers are not included in the proceedings because the authors failed to meet the submission deadline. These papers are (1) Utah Discharge Requirements by Calvin Sudweeks, (2) Chlorine, Califorms, 1977 Standards and you by Robert A. Sperling, (3) Panel Discussion by Ken Watson, and (4) Panel Discussion by Michael Miner. One additional paper entitled Problems of Mounting a Major Water Pollution Control Program by Martin Lang is not included in the proceedings due to personal committment as National Vice President of the Water Pollution Control Federation. The Technical Program Committee greatly appreciates the time and effort expended by the authors and advertisers who made these porceedings possible

    Error resilience analysis of wireless image transmission using JPEG, JPEG 2000 and JPWL

    The wireless extension of the JPEG 2000 standard formally known as JPWL is the newest international standard for still image compression. Different from all previous standards, this new standard was created specifically for wireless imaging applications. This paper examines the error resilience performance of the JPEG, JPEG 2000 and JPWL standards in combating multi-path and fading impairments in Rayleigh fading channels. Comprehensive objective and subjective results are presented in relation to the error resilience performance of these three standards under various conditions. The major findings in this paper reveal that a CRC approach is not a viable option for protecting wireless image data when not used in conjunction with an efficient retransmission strategy. In addition, the Reed-Solomon error correction codes in JPWL provide strong protection for wireless image transmission. However, any stronger protection beyond RS(64,32) yields diminishing returns

    Preface: This volume is the third published proceedings of the Utah Water Pollution Control Association\u27s Annual Meeting. The Technical Program of the 1979 Annual Meeting was divided into four separate sessions. The opening session (Session I) provided an overview and direction for the entire meeting. Session II-A: Plant Safety, and Session III-A: Plant Safety, centered on the need for establishing appropriate safety procedures at wastewater installations. Session II-B: Selected Topics, was devoted to technical presentations of speical merit and interest to the local environmental engineering profession. Session III-B: Interim Upgrading, considered various alternatives to upgraiding wastewater facilities on an interim basis. Session IV: Energy Conservation, included a panel discussion on various methods for reducing energy consumption at wastewater treatment facilities. For the second year, a Fellowship Breakfast was held the second day of the Annual Meeting. Although not included in these Proceedings, Mr. Hal Goble, Goble Sampson Associates and Mr. Jim Marsh, Assistant Basketball Coach at the University of Utah, were featured speakers at this breakfast. The Technical Program Committee is deeply grateful to Mrs. Kathy Bayn and Mrs. Kathy Eck for their persistence, dedications, and technical skill in preparing the manuscript of these proceedings.     IDEA '15 held at HiPEAC 2015, Amsterdam, The Netherlands on January 21st, 2015 is the rst workshop on Investigating Data ow in Embedded computing Architectures. This technical report comprises of the proceedings of IDEA '15. Over the years, data ow has been gaining popularity among Embedded Systems researchers around Europe and the world. However, research on data ow is limited to small pockets in dierent communities without a common forum for discussion. The goal of the workshop was to provide a platform to researchers and practitioners to present work on modelling and analysis of present and future high performance embedded computing architectures using data ow. Despite being the rst edition of the workshop, it was very pleasant to see a total of 14 submissions, out of which 6 papers were selected following a thorough reviewing process. All the papers were reviewed by at least 5 reviewers. This workshop could not have become a reality without the help of a Technical Program Committee (TPC). The TPC members not only did the hard work to give helpful reviews in time, but also participated in extensive discussion following the reviewing process, leading to an excellent workshop program and very valuable feedback to authors. Likewise, the Organisation Committee also deserves acknowledgment to make this workshop a successful event. We take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed in making this workshop a success

    SOFTENG 2023: the ninth international conference on advances and trends in software engineering

    The Ninth International Conference on Advances and Trends in Software Engineering (SOFTENG 2023), held between April 24th and April 28th, 2023, continued a series of events focusing on these challenging aspects for software development and deployment, across the whole life-cycle. Software engineering exhibits challenging dimensions in the light of new applications, devices, and services. Mobility, user-centric development, smart-devices, e-services, ambient environments, e-health and wearable/implantable devices pose specific challenges for specifying software requirements and developing reliable and safe software. Specific software interfaces, agile organization and software dependability require particular approaches for software security, maintainability, and sustainability. We take here the opportunity to warmly thank all the members of the SOFTENG 2023 technical program committee, as well as all the reviewers. The creation of such a high-quality conference program would not have been possible without their involvement. We also kindly thank all the authors who dedicated much of their time and effort to contribute to SOFTENG 2023. We truly believe that, thanks to all these efforts, the final conference program consisted of top-quality contributions. We also thank the members of the SOFTENG 2023 organizing committee for their help in handling the logistics of this event.
