    For the latest twenty to thirty years, a significant number of AUVs has been created for the solving of wide spectrum of scientific and applied tasks of ocean development and research. For the short time period the AUVs have shown the efficiency at performance of complex search and inspection works and opened a number of new important applications. Initially the information about AUVs had mainly review-advertising character but now more attention is paid to practical achievements, problems and systems technologies.     Analysing knowledge transfer in SHADE via complex network

    In this research paper a hybridization of two computational intelligence fields, which are evolutionary computation techniques and complex networks (CNs), is presented. During the optimization run of the success-history based adaptive differential evolution (SHADE) a CN is built and its feature, node degree centrality, is extracted for each node. Nodes represent here the individual solutions from the SHADE population. Edges in the network mirror the knowledge transfer between individuals in SHADE's population, and therefore, the node degree centrality can be used to measure knowledge transfer capabilities of each individual. The correlation between individual's quality and its knowledge transfer capability is recorded and analyzed on the CEC2015 benchmark set in three different dimensionality settings-10D, 30D and 50D.     This Special Issue is devoted to recent developments in instrumentation and measurement techniques applied to the marine field. ¶The sea is the medium that has allowed people to travel from one continent to another using vessels, even today despite the use of aircraft. It has also been acting as a great reservoir and source of food for all living beings. However, for many generations, it served as a landfill for depositing conventional and nuclear wastes, especially in its deep seabeds, and we are assisting in a race to exploit minerals and resources, different from foods, encompassed in it. Its health is a great challenge for the survival of all humanity since it is one of the most important environmental components targeted by global warming. ¶ As everyone may know, measuring is a step that generates substantial knowledge about a phenomenon or an asset, which is the basis for proposing correct solutions and making proper decisions. However, measurements in the sea environment pose unique difficulties and opportunities, which is made clear from the research results presented in this Special Issue

    Differential Evolution Optimal Parameters Tuning with Artificial Neural Network

    Differential evolution (DE) is a simple and efficient population-based stochastic algorithm for solving global numerical optimization problems. DE largely depends on algorithm parameter values and search strategy. Knowledge on how to tune the best values of these parameters is scarce. This paper aims to present a consistent methodology for tuning optimal parameters. At the heart of the methodology is the use of an artificial neural network (ANN) that learns to draw links between the algorithm performance and parameter values. To do so, first, a data-set is generated and normalized, then the ANN approach is performed, and finally, the best parameter values are extracted. The proposed method is evaluated on a set of 24 test problems from the Black-Box Optimization Benchmarking (BBOB) benchmark. Experimental results show that three distinct cases may arise with the application of this method. For each case, specifications about the procedure to follow are given. Finally, a comparison with four tuning rules is performed in order to verify and validate the proposed method’s performance. This study provides a thorough insight into optimal parameter tuning, which may be of great use for users.The authors appreciate the support to the government of the Basque Country through research programs Grants N.
