    Analysis, filtering, and control for Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy models in networked systems

Among different kinds of models for fuzzy systems, the so-called Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model has been quite popular due to its convenient and simple dynamic structure as well as its capability of approximating any smooth nonlinear function to any specified accuracy within any compact set. In terms of such a model, the performance analysis and the design of controllers and filters play important roles in the research of fuzzy systems. In this paper, we aim to survey some recent advances on the T-S fuzzy control and filtering problems with various network-induced phenomena. The network-induced phenomena under consideration mainly include communication delays, packet dropouts, signal quantization, and randomly occurring uncertainties (ROUs). With such network-induced phenomena, the developments on T-S fuzzy control and filtering issues are reviewed in detail. In addition, some latest results on this topic are highlighted.     Distributed model predictive control of steam/water loop in large scale ships

    In modern steam power plants, the ever-increasing complexity requires great reliability and flexibility of the control system. Hence, in this paper, the feasibility of a distributed model predictive control (DiMPC) strategy with an extended prediction self-adaptive control (EPSAC) framework is studied, in which the multiple controllers allow each sub-loop to have its own requirement flexibility. Meanwhile, the model predictive control can guarantee a good performance for the system with constraints. The performance is compared against a decentralized model predictive control (DeMPC) and a centralized model predictive control (CMPC). In order to improve the computing speed, a multiple objective model predictive control (MOMPC) is proposed. For the stability of the control system, the convergence of the DiMPC is discussed. Simulation tests are performed on the five different sub-loops of steam/water loop. The results indicate that the DiMPC may achieve similar performance as CMPC while outperforming the DeMPC method

    Fault estimation and active fault tolerant control for linear parameter varying descriptor systems

    Starting with the baseline controller design, this paper proposes an integrated approach of active fault tolerant control based on proportional derivative extended state observer (PDESO) for linear parameter varying descriptor systems. The PDESO can simultaneously provide the estimates of the system states, sensor faults, and actuator faults. The L₂ robust performance of the closed-loop system to bounded exogenous disturbance and bounded uncertainty is achieved by a two-step design procedure adapted from the traditional observer-based controller design. Furthermore, an LMI pole-placement region and the L₂ robustness performance are combined into a multiobjective formulation by suitably combing the appropriate LMI descriptions. A parameter-varying system example is given to illustrate the design procedure and the validity of the proposed integrated design approach

    Nonlinear Pseudo State-Feedback Controller Design for Affine Fuzzy Large-Scale Systems with H∞ Performance

    Acord transformatiu CRUE-CSICThis paper treats robust controller design for Affine Fuzzy Large-Scale Systems (AFLSS) composed of Takagi-Sugeno-Kang type fuzzy subsystems with offset terms, disturbances, uncertainties, and interconnections. Instead of fuzzy parallel distributed compensation, a decentralized nonlinear pseudo state-feedback is developed for each subsystem to stabilize the overall AFLSS. Using Lyapunov stability, sufficient conditions with low codemputational effort and free gains are derived in terms of matrix inequalities. The proposed controller guarantees asymptotic stability, robust stabilization, and H∞ control performance of the AFLSS. A numerical example is given to illustrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach

    Decentralized H∞ Control of Interconnected Systems with Time-varying Delays

    This paper focuses on the problem of delay dependent stability/stabilization of interconnected systems with time-varying delays. The approach is based on a new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. A decentralized delay-dependent stability analysis is performed to characterize linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) based on the conditions under which every local subsystem of the linear interconnected delay system is asymptotically stable. Then we design a decentralized state-feedback stabilization scheme such that the family of closedloop feedback subsystems enjoys the delay-dependent asymptotic stability for each subsystem. The decentralized feedback gains are determined by convex optimization over LMIs. All the developed results are tested on a representative example and compared with some recent previous ones

    A Robust Decentralized Load Frequency Controller for Interconnected Power Systems

    A novel design of a robust decentralized load frequency control (LFC) algorithm is proposed for an inter-connected three-area power system, for the purpose of regulating area control error (ACE) in the presence of system uncertainties and external disturbances. The design is based on the concept of active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). Estimating and mitigating the total effect of various uncertainties in real time, ADRC is particularly effective against a wide range of parameter variations, model uncertainties, and large disturbances. Furthermore, with only two tuning parameters, the controller provides a simple and easy-to-use solution to complex engineering problems in practice. Here, an ADRC-based LFC solution is developed for systems with turbines of various types, such as non-reheat, reheat, and hydraulic. The simulation results verified the effectiveness of the ADRC, in comparison with an existing PI-type controller tuned via genetic algorithm linear matrix inequalities (GALMIs). The comparison results show the superiority of the proposed solution. Moreover, the stability and robustness of the closed-loop system is studied using frequency-domain analysis
