Convergence Analysis of Distributed Set-Valued Information Systems

    Get PDF
This paper focuses on the convergence of information in distributed systems of agents communicating over a network. The information on which the convergence is sought is not rep- resented by real numbers, as often in the literature, rather by sets. The dynamics of the evolution of information across the net- work is accordingly described by set-valued iterative maps. While the study of convergence of set-valued iterative maps is highly complex in general, this paper focuses on Boolean maps, which are comprised of arbitrary combinations of unions, intersections, and complements of sets. For these important class of systems, we provide tools to study both global and local convergence. A distributed geographic information system, leading to successful information reconstruction from partial and corrupted data, is used to illustrate the applications of the proposed methods

This paper respectively introduces set-valued information systems and interval-valued information systems, and presents interval and set-valued information systems which have common features of above two systems.According to the semantic relation of attribute values, interval and set-valued information systems can be classified into two categories, disjunctive(type I) and conjunctive(type II) systems. Then,a dominance-based rough set model is presented for these two types of interval and set-valued information systems, and some related properties are discussed. Finally, the results of practical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed system.国家自然科学基金项目(10971186;11061004);福建省教育厅A类重点项目(JA10202

    Incomplete conjunctive information

    Get PDF
AbstractMany information systems capable of handling incomplete or fuzzy information manipulate objects with single-valued attributes. Information is then said to be disjunctive. Information is said to be conjunctive when pertaining to many-valued attributes. While a piece of incomplete disjunctive information is easily represented by means of a set of mutually exclusive possible values, modeling incomplete conjunctive information theoretically leads to consider families of sets, since attributes are then set-valued under complete information. Some proposals are made in order to efficiently and rigorously represent incomplete conjunctive information, and deal with query evaluation, especially in the case where only upper and/or lower bounds of the set of values of a many-valued attribute are known. Applications of this approach can be expected for the processing of time intervals, as well as spatial reasoning, among other topics, in knowledge base management

New Trends in Neutrosophic Theory and Applications Volume II

Neutrosophic set has been derived from a new branch of philosophy, namely Neutrosophy. Neutrosophic set is capable of dealing with uncertainty, indeterminacy and inconsistent information. Neutrosophic set approaches are suitable to modeling problems with uncertainty, indeterminacy and inconsistent information in which human knowledge is necessary, and human evaluation is needed. Neutrosophic set theory was proposed in 1998 by Florentin Smarandache, who also developed the concept of single valued neutrosophic set, oriented towards real world scientific and engineering applications. Since then, the single valued neutrosophic set theory has been extensively studied in books and monographs introducing neutrosophic sets and its applications, by many authors around the world. Also, an international journal - Neutrosophic Sets and Systems started its journey in 2013. Single valued neutrosophic sets have found their way into several hybrid systems, such as neutrosophic soft set, rough neutrosophic set, neutrosophic bipolar set, neutrosophic expert set, rough bipolar neutrosophic set, neutrosophic hesitant fuzzy set, etc. Successful applications of single valued neutrosophic sets have been developed in multiple criteria and multiple attribute decision making. This second volume collects original research and application papers from different perspectives covering different areas of neutrosophic studies, such as decision making, graph theory, image processing, probability theory, topology, and some theoretical papers. This volume contains four sections: DECISION MAKING, NEUTROSOPHIC GRAPH THEORY, IMAGE PROCESSING, ALGEBRA AND OTHER PAPERS. First paper (Pu Ji, Peng-fei Cheng, Hongyu Zhang, Jianqiang Wang. Interval valued neutrosophic Bonferroni mean operators and the application in the selection of renewable energy) aims to construct selection approaches for renewable energy considering the interrelationships among criteria. To do that, Bonferroni mean (BM) and geometric BM (GBM) are employed

Requirements of time management tools for outpatient physiotherapy practice

The effects of electronic appointment booking systems on the time management activities of health professionals have received little attention to date. We report on time management practices in three outpatient physiotherapy departments with different paper and electronic systems. The study has identified a set of time management activities and associated social behaviours common to physiotherapy departments. The convenience, flexibility and expressive nature of paper diary systems is of significant value to users, whilst the clarity and superior database functionality of electronic systems are valued by staff using this medium. The study highlights several potential barriers to the effective deployment of electronic booking systems in physiotherapy departments, including poor resource and training provision, concerns regarding restrictive diary control measures, the continued reliance on burdensome duplication procedures and the need to coordinate multiple information artefacts, which need to be addressed if such technology is to be successfully designed and deployed. A rough set approach for the discovery of classification rules in interval-valued information systems

    Get PDF
A novel rough set approach is proposed in this paper to discover classification rules through a process of knowledge induction which selects optimal decision rules with a minimal set of features necessary and sufficient for classification of real-valued data. A rough set knowledge discovery framework is formulated for the analysis of interval-valued information systems converted from real-valued raw decision tables. The optimal feature selection method for information systems with interval-valued features obtains all classification rules hidden in a system through a knowledge induction process. Numerical examples are employed to substantiate the conceptual arguments

Fuzzy-rough set models and fuzzy-rough data reduction

Rough set theory is a powerful tool to analysis the information systems. Fuzzy rough set is introduced as a fuzzy generalization of rough sets. This paper reviewed the most important contributions to the rough set theory, fuzzy rough set theory and their applications. In many real world situations, some of the attribute values for an object may be in the set-valued form. In this paper, to handle this problem, we present a more general approach to the fuzzification of rough sets. Specially, we define a broad family of fuzzy rough sets. This paper presents a new development for the rough set theory by incorporating the classical rough set theory and the interval-valued fuzzy sets. The proposed methods are illustrated by an numerical example on the real case

Information State for Robust Control of Set-Valued Discrete Time Systems

In this paper, we construct the information state for robust output feedback control of set-valued discrete time dynamical systems. The information state is obtained as the small noise limit of an appropriate risk-sensitive stochastic control problem. It is possible to obtain this limit by an extension of the Vardgan-Laplace lemma. Finally, the relationship between the information state, and the indicator function of feasible sets is examined
