Internames: a name-to-name principle for the future Internet
We propose Internames, an architectural framework in which names are used to
identify all entities involved in communication: contents, users, devices,
logical as well as physical points involved in the communication, and services.
By not having a static binding between the name of a communication entity and
its current location, we allow entities to be mobile, enable them to be reached
by any of a number of basic communication primitives, enable communication to
span networks with different technologies and allow for disconnected operation.
Furthermore, with the ability to communicate between names, the communication
path can be dynamically bound to any of a number of end-points, and the
end-points themselves could change as needed. A key benefit of our architecture
is its ability to accommodate gradual migration from the current IP
infrastructure to a future that may be a ubiquitous Information Centric
Network. Basic building blocks of Internames are: i) a name-based Application
Programming Interface; ii) a separation of identifiers (names) and locators;
iii) a powerful Name Resolution Service (NRS) that dynamically maps names to
locators, as a function of time/location/context/service; iv) a built-in
capacity of evolution, allowing a transparent migration from current networks
and the ability to include as particular cases current specific architectures.
To achieve this vision, shared by many other researchers, we exploit and expand
on Information Centric Networking principles, extending ICN functionality
beyond content retrieval, easing send-to-name and push services, and allowing
to use names also to route data in the return path. A key role in this
architecture is played by the NRS, which allows for the co-existence of
multiple network "realms", including current IP and non-IP networks, glued
together by a name-to-name overarching communication primitive.Comment: 6 page

An Approach to Transform Public Administration into SOA-based Organizations
Nowadays, Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) is widely spread in private organizations. However, when transferring this knowledge to Public Administration, it is realized that it has not been transformed in terms
of its legal nature into organizations capable to operate under the SOA paradigm. This fact prevents public
administration bodies from offering the efficient services they have been provided by different boards of
governments. A high-level framework to perform this transformation is proposed. Taking it as starting
point, an instance of a SOA Target Meta-Model can be obtained by means of an iterative and incremental
process based on the analysis of imperatives and focused on the particular business context of each local public administration. This paper briefly presents a practical experience consisting in applying this process

Digital service analysis and design : the role of process modelling
Digital libraries are evolving from content-centric systems to person-centric systems. Emergent services are interactive and multidimensional, associated systems multi-tiered and distributed. A holistic perspective is essential to their effective analysis and design, for beyond technical considerations, there are complex social, economic, organisational, and ergonomic requirements and relationships to consider. Such a perspective cannot be gained without direct user involvement, yet evidence suggests that development teams may be failing to effectively engage with users, relying on requirements derived from anecdotal evidence or prior experience. In such instances, there is a risk that services might be well designed, but functionally useless. This paper highlights the role of process modelling in gaining such perspective. Process modelling challenges, approaches, and success factors are considered, discussed with reference to a recent evaluation of usability and usefulness of a UK National Health Service (NHS) digital library. Uncovering the impact of organisational culture types on the willingness to share knowledge between projects
Current literature has established that organisational culture influences knowledge management efforts; however, it is only recently that research on project management has focused its interest on organisational culture in the context of knowledge sharing and some preliminary studies have been conducted. In response, this paper adds a significant contribution by providing rich empirical evidence of the relationships between culture and the willingness to share knowledge, demonstrating which cultural values are more and which are less likely to improve inter-project knowledge sharing behaviours. The use of interviews and the Organisational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) (Cameron & Quinn, 2005) in the cross-case examination of culture in four participating cases has resulted in rich empirical contributions. Furthermore, this paper adds to the project management literature by introducing the Competing Values Framework (CVF) of Cameron and Quinn (2005) to evaluate knowledge sharing in the inter-project context
