Towards Cyber Security for Low-Carbon Transportation: Overview, Challenges and Future Directions
In recent years, low-carbon transportation has become an indispensable part
as sustainable development strategies of various countries, and plays a very
important responsibility in promoting low-carbon cities. However, the security
of low-carbon transportation has been threatened from various ways. For
example, denial of service attacks pose a great threat to the electric vehicles
and vehicle-to-grid networks. To minimize these threats, several methods have
been proposed to defense against them. Yet, these methods are only for certain
types of scenarios or attacks. Therefore, this review addresses security aspect
from holistic view, provides the overview, challenges and future directions of
cyber security technologies in low-carbon transportation. Firstly, based on the
concept and importance of low-carbon transportation, this review positions the
low-carbon transportation services. Then, with the perspective of network
architecture and communication mode, this review classifies its typical attack
risks. The corresponding defense technologies and relevant security suggestions
are further reviewed from perspective of data security, network management
security and network application security. Finally, in view of the long term
development of low-carbon transportation, future research directions have been
concerned.Comment: 34 pages, 6 figures, accepted by journal Renewable and Sustainable

Advancement in infotainment system in automotive sector with vehicular cloud network and current state of art
The automotive industry has been incorporating various technological advancement on top-end versions of the vehicle order to improvise the degree of comfortability as well as enhancing the safer driving system. Infotainment system is one such pivotal system which not only makes the vehicle smart but also offers abundance of information as well as entertainment to the driver and passenger. The capability to offer extensive relay of service through infotainment system is highly dependent on vehicular adhoc network as well as back end support of cloud environment. However, it is know that such legacy system of vehicular adhoc network is also characterized by various problems associated with channel capacity, latency, heterogeneous network processing, and many more. Therefore, this paper offers a comprehensive insight to the research work being carried out towards leveraging the infotainment system in order to obtain the true picture of strength, limitation, and open end problems associated with infotainment system
Access Control Mechanisms in Named Data Networks:A Comprehensive Survey
Information-Centric Networking (ICN) has recently emerged as a prominent
candidate for the Future Internet Architecture (FIA) that addresses existing
issues with the host-centric communication model of the current TCP/IP-based
Internet. Named Data Networking (NDN) is one of the most recent and active ICN
architectures that provides a clean slate approach for Internet communication.
NDN provides intrinsic content security where security is directly provided to
the content instead of communication channel. Among other security aspects,
Access Control (AC) rules specify the privileges for the entities that can
access the content. In TCP/IP-based AC systems, due to the client-server
communication model, the servers control which client can access a particular
content. In contrast, ICN-based networks use content names to drive
communication and decouple the content from its original location. This
phenomenon leads to the loss of control over the content causing different
challenges for the realization of efficient AC mechanisms. To date,
considerable efforts have been made to develop various AC mechanisms in NDN. In
this paper, we provide a detailed and comprehensive survey of the AC mechanisms
in NDN. We follow a holistic approach towards AC in NDN where we first
summarize the ICN paradigm, describe the changes from channel-based security to
content-based security and highlight different cryptographic algorithms and
security protocols in NDN. We then classify the existing AC mechanisms into two
main categories: Encryption-based AC and Encryption-independent AC. Each
category has different classes based on the working principle of AC (e.g.,
Attribute-based AC, Name-based AC, Identity-based AC, etc). Finally, we present
the lessons learned from the existing AC mechanisms and identify the challenges
of NDN-based AC at large, highlighting future research directions for the
community.Comment: This paper has been accepted for publication by the ACM Computing
Surveys. The final version will be published by the AC
Secure and Privacy-Aware Cloud-Assisted Video Reporting Service in 5G Enabled Vehicular Networks
Vehicular networks are one of the main technologies that will be leveraged by the arrival of the future fifth generation (5G) mobile cellular networks. While scalability and latency are the major drawbacks of IEEE 802.11p and 4G LTE enabled vehicular communications, respectively, the 5G technology is a promising solution to empower the real-time services offered by vehicular networks. However, the security and privacy of such services in 5G enabled vehicular networks need to be addressed first. In this paper, we propose a novel system model for a 5G enabled vehicular network that facilitates a reliable, secure and privacy-aware real-time video reporting service. This service is designed for the participating vehicles to instantly report the videos of traffic accidents to guarantee a timely response from official and/or ambulance vehicles toward accidents. While it provides strong security and privacy guarantees for the participating vehicle’s identity and the video contents, the proposed service ensures traceability of misbehaving participants through a cooperation scheme among different authorities. We show the feasibility and the fulfilment of the proposed reporting service in 5G enabled vehicular networks in terms of security, privacy and efficiency
PROUD : verifiable privacy-preserving outsourced attribute based signcryption supporting access policy update for cloud assisted IoT applications
The ever-growing number of Internet connected devices poses several cybersecurity risks. Most of the exchanged data between the
Internet of Things (IoT) devices are not adequately secured due to resource constraints on IoT devices. Attribute Based
SignCryption (ABSC) is a powerful cryptographic mechanism suitable for distributed environments, providing flexible access
control and data secrecy. However, it imposes high designcryption costs, and does not support access policy update (user
addition/revocation). This paper presents PROUD, an ABSC solution, to securely outsource data designcryption process to edge
servers in order to reduce the computation overhead on the user side. PROUD allows end-users to offload most of the
designcryption overhead to an edge server and verify the correctness of the received partially designcrypted data from the edge
server. Moreover, PROUD provides the access policy update feature with neither involving a proxy-server, nor re-signcrypting the
signcrypted message and re-distributing the users’ secret keys. The access policy update feature in PROUD does not affect the size
of the message received by the end-user which reduces the bandwidth and the storage usage. Our comprehensive theoretical and
experimental analysis prove that PROUD outperforms existing schemes in terms of functionality, communication and computation
overhead
