    The purpose of this paper is to identify the main opportunities and limitations of corporate social responsibility (CSR). The survey was defined with the aim to involve the highest possible number of relevant CSR topics and give the issue a more wholesome perspective. It provides a basis for further comprehension and deeper analyses of specific CSR areas. The conditions determining the success of CSR in Romania have been defined in the paper on the basis of the previously cumulative knowledge as well as the results of various researches.     L'intelligence artificielle (IA) moderne a ouvert de nouvelles perspectives prometteuses pour la création de robots intelligents. En particulier, les architectures d'apprentissage basées sur le gradient (réseaux neuronaux profonds) ont considérablement amélioré la compréhension des scènes 3D en termes de perception, de raisonnement et d'action. Cependant, ces progrès ont affaibli l'attrait de nombreuses techniques ``classiques'' développées au cours des dernières décennies. Nous postulons qu'un mélange de méthodes ``classiques'' et ``apprises'' est la voie la plus prometteuse pour développer des modèles du monde flexibles, interprétables et exploitables : une nécessité pour les agents intelligents incorporés. La question centrale de cette thèse est : ``Quelle est la manière idéale de combiner les techniques classiques avec des architectures d'apprentissage basées sur le gradient pour une compréhension riche du monde 3D ?''. Cette vision ouvre la voie à une multitude d'applications qui ont un impact fondamental sur la façon dont les agents physiques perçoivent et interagissent avec leur environnement. Cette thèse, appelée ``programmes différentiables pour modèler l'environnement'', unifie les efforts de plusieurs domaines étroitement liés mais actuellement disjoints, notamment la robotique, la vision par ordinateur, l'infographie et l'IA. Ma première contribution---gradSLAM--- est un système de localisation et de cartographie simultanées (SLAM) dense et entièrement différentiable. En permettant le calcul du gradient à travers des composants autrement non différentiables tels que l'optimisation non linéaire par moindres carrés, le raycasting, l'odométrie visuelle et la cartographie dense, gradSLAM ouvre de nouvelles voies pour intégrer la reconstruction 3D classique et l'apprentissage profond. Ma deuxième contribution - taskography - propose une sparsification conditionnée par la tâche de grandes scènes 3D encodées sous forme de graphes de scènes 3D. Cela permet aux planificateurs classiques d'égaler (et de surpasser) les planificateurs de pointe basés sur l'apprentissage en concentrant le calcul sur les attributs de la scène pertinents pour la tâche. Ma troisième et dernière contribution---gradSim--- est un simulateur entièrement différentiable qui combine des moteurs physiques et graphiques différentiables pour permettre l'estimation des paramètres physiques et le contrôle visuomoteur, uniquement à partir de vidéos ou d'une image fixe.Modern artificial intelligence (AI) has created exciting new opportunities for building intelligent robots. In particular, gradient-based learning architectures (deep neural networks) have tremendously improved 3D scene understanding in terms of perception, reasoning, and action. However, these advancements have undermined many ``classical'' techniques developed over the last few decades. We postulate that a blend of ``classical'' and ``learned'' methods is the most promising path to developing flexible, interpretable, and actionable models of the world: a necessity for intelligent embodied agents. ``What is the ideal way to combine classical techniques with gradient-based learning architectures for a rich understanding of the 3D world?'' is the central question in this dissertation. This understanding enables a multitude of applications that fundamentally impact how embodied agents perceive and interact with their environment. This dissertation, dubbed ``differentiable world programs'', unifies efforts from multiple closely-related but currently-disjoint fields including robotics, computer vision, computer graphics, and AI. Our first contribution---gradSLAM---is a fully differentiable dense simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) system. By enabling gradient computation through otherwise non-differentiable components such as nonlinear least squares optimization, ray casting, visual odometry, and dense mapping, gradSLAM opens up new avenues for integrating classical 3D reconstruction and deep learning. Our second contribution---taskography---proposes a task-conditioned sparsification of large 3D scenes encoded as 3D scene graphs. This enables classical planners to match (and surpass) state-of-the-art learning-based planners by focusing computation on task-relevant scene attributes. Our third and final contribution---gradSim---is a fully differentiable simulator that composes differentiable physics and graphics engines to enable physical parameter estimation and visuomotor control, solely from videos or a still image

    The current Space Station Systems Technology Study add on task was an outgrowth of the Advanced Platform Systems Technology Study (APSTS) that was completed in April 1983 and the subsequent Space Station System Technology Study completed in April 1984. The first APSTS proceeded from the identification of 106 technology topics to the selection of five for detailed trade studies. During the advanced platform study, the technical issues and options were evaluated through detailed trade processes, individual consideration was given to costs and benefits for the technologies identified for advancement, and advancement plans were developed. An approach similar to that was used in the subsequent study, with emphasis on system definition in four specific technology areas to facilitate a more in depth analysis of technology issues

    An approach for distributed rostering by means of Web service technologies

    La planificación automática de turnos de trabajo (rostering de aquí en adelante) es un proceso fundamental para la mayoría de empresas. Este proceso les permite gestionar sus recursos de forma eficiente. La mayoría de soluciones de planificación automática trabajan en escenarios centralizados. Este proyecto tiene como meta dar un nuevo enfoque al proceso de planificación automática transformando el entorno centralizado en uno distribuido. La tecnología escogida para esta transformación son los servicios Web. Los servicios Web se han posicionado como una de las tecnologías más importantes y utilizadas, sin embargo la combinación de los procesos de planificación automática con servicios Web no ha sido investigada y estudiada en profundidad. Este nuevo enfoque pretende crear soluciones más ligeras y flexibles para empresas de forma que no tengan que preocuparse de tediosas instalaciones y configuraciones El enfoque distribuido puede proveer numerosos beneficios a ambas partes; permitiría centrar este área tecnológica en un entorno web 2.0. Las compañías de planificación automática se actualizarían convirtiéndose en empresas con gran capacidad de interacción con el resto de elementos de la web 2.0. Al mismo tiempo, la empresa que consume los servicios de rostering no tiene que preocuparse por el mantenimiento y actualizaciones. Los calendarios de turnos de trabajo pueden ser obtenidos en cualquier lugar y en cualquier momento. Esto mejora el valor de la empresa y las relaciones con los empleados. Para el desarrollo del proyecto se han creado diferentes aplicaciones. Estas aplicaciones han sido configuradas de distintas formas para abarcar distintas posibilidades de desarrollo y poder así obtener una visión más amplia de las capacidades y posibilidades del sistema distribuido. Las configuraciones están centradas en el tipo de servicio Web usado (SOAP, REST) y en la seguridad y sus diferentes posibilidades. El proyecto es una prueba de concepto de como este nuevo enfoque funcionaría, resaltando los puntos fuertes y deficiencias de éste; de la misma manera pretende sentar una base para futuros proyectos en este área. El proyecto ha conseguido cumplir con los objetivos propuestos, mostrando los puntos fuertes y débiles del enfoque. De forma sorprendente y contraria a las expectativas los problemas aparecen al obtener los datos necesarios de las diferentes empresas para crear el calendario. En principio, se esperaba que el cuello de botella del sistema se encontrase en el proceso de rostering, ya que normalmente es un proceso costoso y pesado. Los resultados del proyecto muestran como el cuello de botella está localizado cuando se intenta obtener la información de empresas externas. Este problema resalta la característica principal de este nuevo enfoque: es necesario un sistema personalizado para cada empresa que quiera consumir los servicios de rostering. Esto significa que a pesar de tener un sistema global funcionando con servicios Web, no es válido para todas las empresas que quieran utilizarlo y consecuentemente hay que adaptarlo a cada una de ellas. La colaboración entre empresas se vuelve esencial en este nuevo enfoque. Esto complica la idea inicial y cambia los objetivos de las empresas de rostering que necesitan una profunda transformación de sus sistemas y su funcionamiento

    iCity. Transformative Research for the Livable, Intelligent, and Sustainable City

    This open access book presents the exciting research results of the BMBF funded project iCity carried out at University of Applied Science Stuttgart to help cities to become more liveable, intelligent and sustainable, to become a LIScity. The research has been pursued with industry partners and NGOs from 2017 to 2020. A LIScity is increasingly digitally networked, uses resources efficiently, and implements intelligent mobility concepts. It guarantees the supply of its grid-bound infrastructure with a high proportion of renewable energy. Intelligent cities are increasingly human-centered, integrative, and flexible, thus placing the well-being of the citizens at the center of developments to increase the quality of life. The articles in this book cover research aimed to meet these criteria.
