    Get PDF
The Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia changed learning patterns from offline to online using technology as media. Hence, Arabic language learning must be well designed but still contains elements of 21st century life skills. This study aims to explore the design of 21st century skills-based Arabic learning which was held during the Covid-19 pandemic at Thursina International Islamic Boarding School Malang, Indonesia. This research adopts a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and document studies. The data collected were analyzed using the theory of Miles and Huberman, namely reducing, presenting, and verifying. Furthermore, the data is validated using data triangulation and data sources. This research shows that the implementation of 21st century skills can be done online during the Covid-19 pandemic; achievement indicators refer to the content of elements in 21st century skills known as 4C (critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity & inovation) terminology; while the challenges of implementing 21st century skills stem from the skills of teachers in operating technology when presenting subject matter to students. The findings of this study describe that 21st century skills encourage students to become globally competitive human resources. The researcher recommends the next research to test the effectiveness of internalizing 21st century skills with online learning models. Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) had made it compulsory for the application of Malaysia halal certificate at industry level to implement Halal Assurance System (HAS). The main purpose and focus to develop this halal system was to upgrade the integrity of halal product which was based by the 'Farm to Fork' concept that involved from the raw material production up to the end user in the chain. In the application of HAS, specifically in Malaysia the focus was only at the level of receiving of raw material until the end user, instead of started from the highest chain of food supply which involved the broiler chicken farm industry. Therefore, qualitative methodology through document analysis was used in order to obtain the source of information and to explain the element of HAS such as Halal Critical Point in broiler chicken farming activities. Other than that, issues related to the halal control such as animal feed, medication source and animal welfare also discussed in this paper to discover HAS application on farm level. This systematic system and halal certification policy will benefit on farming sector and make it able to be the main reference to halal player's integrity because it will give benefit the consumer from the whole of the halal food chain

    Get PDF
The services sector accounts for approximately 70% of South Africa's gross domestic product (GDP) and has emerged as one of South Africa's key exports with regional and global destinations. The sector is also a key provider of employment registering just above 8.5 million jobs in March 2014, according to Statistics South Africa. It is for this reason that the sector has been earmarked to give the required impetus to realise the export driven growth, which underpins the current government strategy for economic development and growth. Using the mining services sector, as a case study, this study highlights the importance of services, as an important input to operating costs in the production and manufacturing sectors. It further highlights the importance of services in determining the competitiveness of the manufacturing and production sectors, through effective sourcing and more importantly availability. This is done in the context of the growing African market, especially the mining sector and the opportunities presented by new mineral discoveries in Africa. This study is presented to support the development of a strategic and comprehensive trade strategy for services. Tracking the development of South Africa's trade policy, the rationale for the different positions that have been taken by government are presented to illustrate how government has used trade policy as a tool to advance its objectives at varying stages of South Africa's economic development. The study thereafter undertakes an analysis of the current trade policy to better understand how government view the role that is to be played by trade policy in supporting economic development. This analysis identifies gaps within the current trade policy in terms of the role that trade policy ought to play

Data was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics with an analysis model of Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) and Two Stage Least Squares (ZSLS), and Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results of the first-year research are as follows: (1) exploitation pressures on coastal marine resources are very intensive and exceed maxirnum sustainable yield (MSY) (over exploited). (2) Fishing operations of the fishemien are far away fishing locations, quantity and fish-size are smaller. Some poor fisliermen solved their problems by using size~renovation of their ships and adjusting catching fish technology, fishing ground. post-harvest activities

Assessing the Impact of Technology Assessment, Responsible Research and Innovation and Sustainability Research: Towards a Common Methodological Approach

    Get PDF
The missions of Technology Assessment (TA), Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) and Sustainability Research (SR) are similar in their relationship to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). Although adopting different terminology, the three research fields show great conceptual and methodological overlaps, as all three react to societal demands and policy needs via common tools. The impact of TA, RRI and SR is linked directly, but its assessment requires new thinking in terms of common conceptual and methodological approaches. The paper provides an overview of the current discussion on societal impact assessment and identifies areas of particular interest for the three fields. It describes the current discussions on impact assessment and impact indicators in each field and undertakes a bibliometric analysis that shows clear inter-relationships in terms of thematic focus and a common emphasis on impact in all three fields. Following this analysis, the paper argues for a common impact assessment methodology for TA, RRI and SR, under the notion of resonance and based on the concepts of anticipation, reflection and inclusion

Màster en Diplomàcia i Organitzacions Internacionals, Centre d'Estudis Internacionals. Universitat de Barcelona. Curs: 2019-2020. Tutora: Marta AbegónDiaspora members have been for a long time participating along with communities of their country of origin to tap the local intellectual and social capital. Traditionally, diaspora members have been sending remittances to family and friends, but gradually they have been making direct investments into their countries of origin, actively promoting the local professional environment. In global terms, diaspora members have engaged with their countries of origin as a catalyst for development of talent using all the tools available to them: providing mentoring and know-how, launching networking platforms, associating with universities and financing innovative business with funds established abroad. Conversely, diaspora members have been generating awareness in their business communities abroad of the skills of the citizens and the business environment in their countries of origin. Diaspora’s role has gone beyond upgrading the entrepreneurial environment in their country of origin to reinforce trade ties, guide future investments and internationalise the local talent; hence enabling the social and economic development and generating growth in both countries..
