    Get PDF
There are critical issues identified with reconciling parity in supplier diversity initiatives. Supplier diversity programs (SDP) are an instrument utilized to facilitate the process. This endeavor analyzes the best techniques to develop diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategy to develop manufacturing suppliers. Moreover, quality control frameworks for developing supplier diversity programs in manufacturing necessitates strategic planning, which is necessary to support supplier diversity initiatives. For instance, questions that supplier diversity managers must ask include, Does the company have an existing minority supplier program? If so, what are its pros, cons, and evaluative measures? If not, why hasn’t there been a supplier diversity program or why is it now defunct? Moreover, supplier diversity managers must develop, safeguard, and sustain supplier diversity programs by gaining support from leadership, create policy (institutionalize), and tie the SDP to organizational performance metrics

Car sharing is a market that has been in existence since the early 1950s. It entails members within a given society sharing cars to reach their destination and as such, saving up on costs, time and parking space. Car sharing reduces congestion within cities and as such, making it an important and impactful aspect in the protection of the environment. This paper seeks to evaluate the comparison of the car-sharing industry within Germany and Portugal and how it is influenced by millennials. It looks at a number of aspects such as the role of technology, the preservation of the environment, costs, income, and other factors. The survey that is included in the research focuses on Lisbon and Berlin and the millennials that live within them and how they integrate car-sharing services. The results that are realized indicate that Berlin has had the car-sharing industry for some time and as such, making it more prominent as compared to Lisbon. Nonetheless, the car sharing industry within Portugal is also developing at an alarming rate and as such, making the two areas competitive to some degree when it comes to this industry"Car sharing" Ă© um conceito que existe no mercado desde os anos 50.

    Get PDF
Purpose - Over the next decade, humanity is going to face big environmental problems, and considering these serious issues, businesses are adopting environmentally responsible practices. To put forward specific measures to achieve a more prosperous environmental future, this study aims to develop an environment-based perspective framework by integrating the Internet of Things (IoT) technology into a sustainable automotive supply chain (SASC). Design/methodology/approach - The study presents a conceptual environmental framework - based on 29 factors constituting four stakeholders’ rectifications - that holistically assess the SASC operations as part of the ReSOLVE model utilizing IoT. Then, experts from the SASC, IoT, and sustainability areas participated in two rigorous rounds of a Delphi study to validate the framework. Findings – The results indicate that the conceptual environmental framework proposed would help companies enhance the connectivity between major IoT tools in SASC, which would help develop congruent strategies for inducing sustainable growth. Originality/value - This study adds value to existing knowledge on SASC sustainability and digitalization in the context where the SASC is under enormous pressure, competitiveness, and increased variability

A multi‐criteria decision‐making approach for assembling optimal powertrain technology portfolios in low GHG emission environments

Environmental regulations force car manufacturers to renew the powertrain technology portfolio offered to the customer to comply with greenhouse gas (GHG) emission targets. In turn, automotive companies face the task of identifying the “right” powertrain technology portfolio consisting of, for example, internal combustion engines and electric vehicles, because the selection of a particular powertrain technology portfolio affects different company targets simultaneously. What makes this decision even more challenging is that future market shares of the different technologies are uncertain. Our research presents a new decision‐support approach for assembling optimal powertrain technology portfolios while making decision‐makers aware of the trade‐offs between the achievable profit, the achievable market share, the market share risk, and the GHG emissions generated by the selected vehicle fleet. The proposed approach combines “a posteriori” decision‐making with multi‐objective optimization. In an application case, we feed the outlooks of selected market studies into the proposed decision‐support system. The result is a visualization and analysis of the current real‐world decision‐making problem faced by many automotive companies. Our findings indicate that for the proposed GHG restriction at work in 2030 in the European Union, no optimal powertrain technology portfolio with less than 35% of vehicles equipped with an electric motor exists

Research and literature on servitization have expanded greatly in the past years. This study focuses on providing systematic literature review of the micro and macro factors of change in servitization to find solutions for companies to facilitate the change towards digital servitization. This systematic review classifies equally environmental and organizational qualities from the servitization research and is conducted from descriptive sample of 95 articles covering digital servitization and organizational change. The review results indicate that extensive investments required for digital servitization demand substantial growth of value creation and appropriation. Furthermore, the implementation of digitalization obliges to invest in additional capabilities and resources. There are also various micro and macro level factors that need to be acknowledged and taken into consideration as they may all affect the servitization change process in different ways. To facilitate the digital servitization change process, attention needs to be paid to value creation, planning and analysing, management, capabilities and resources, monitoring, network, and stakeholders with the additional factors concluded in this research. These findings have potential to provide beneficial insights both for the companies in the path of servitization and for the research community by providing a novel literature review with perceptive future research ideas of the field and beyond
