About Shor's algorithm and quantum computers
This Bachelor’s thesis focuses on the explanation of Shor’s algorithm, especially the quantum part. It encompasses an introductory part on theoretical computer science and quantum computing giving the necessary knowledge for understanding Shor’s algorithm, a detailed presentation of the algorithm itself with its constituent parts like quantum phase approximation and the quantum fourier transform, as well as a derivation of the algorithm’s running time complexity and a short part on the difficulties of constructing quantum computers that could implement Shor’s algorithm
Euler characteristic and quadrilaterals of normal surfaces
Let be a compact 3-manifold with a triangulation . We give an
inequality relating the Euler characteristic of a surface normally embedded
in with the number of normal quadrilaterals in . This gives a relation
between a topological invariant of the surface and a quantity derived from its
combinatorial description. Secondly, we obtain an inequality relating the
number of normal triangles and normal quadrilaterals of , that depends on
the maximum number of tetrahedrons that share a vertex in .Comment: 7 pages, 1 figur
Ãœber das schwache kartesische Produkt von Graphen
AbstractIt is shown that every connected graph has a unique prime factor decomposition with respect to the weak Cartesian product. The resulting close relationship between the automorphism group of a connected graph and the automorphism groups of its prime factors is used to derive theorems about the transitivity, regularity, and primitivity of these groups. With minor modifications all results also hold for set systems

We report on experiments on the time of factorization of semiprimes (i.e.,
products of two primes) using the systems ''Sage'' and ''CrypTool''. With some
exceptions the time grows exponentially with the length of the semiprimes - as
expected. Using the quadratic sieve implemented in CrypTool 2, we could
factorize the number RSA-100, a 100-decimal-digits semiprime, on our laptop in
less than eight and a half hours
