De Sitter space and perpetuum mobile

We give general arguments that any interacting non--conformal {\it classical} field theory in de Sitter space leads to the possibility of constructing a perpetuum mobile. The arguments are based on the observation that massive free falling particles can radiate other massive particles on the classical level as seen by the free falling observer. The intensity of the radiation process is non-zero even for particles with any finite mass, i.e. with a wavelength which is within the causal domain. Hence, we conclude that either de Sitter space can not exist eternally or that one can build a perpetuum mobile.Comment: 11 pages revtex, no figures. Added discussion to strengthen conclusio

Perpetuum mobile is a multi-valued cultural phenomenon, it symbolizes continuous movement. In contrast to the mechanistic movement aimed at overcoming space, the perpetuum mobile coincides with the concept of movement in philosophy. Even the ancient philosophers knew that the world is constantly moving, changing (Heraclitus). Modern scientists, in particular J. Deleuze, interpret movement as “events” that reflect the interaction of bodies, but are not bodies themselves. In culture, the perpetuum mobile is understood as an image created by certain means of expressiveness in different types of art and has a generalizing character. Among its signs are symbolism, incompleteness or repeatability, non-orientation, cyclicity. The perpetuum mobile is embodied as a sound image in musical works (or its parts) and is manifested at the syntactic and compositional levels of organization of musical material. The article describes the features of the embodiment of the perpetuum mobile in Sonata for cello and piano by Benjamin Britten.Perpetuum mobile is a multi-valued cultural phenomenon, it symbolizes continuous movement. On the dynamics of exotic matter: towards creation of Perpetuum Mobile of third kind

The one-dimensional dynamics of a classical ideal 'exotic' fluid with equation of state p=p(ϵ)<0p=p(\epsilon) < 0 violating the weak energy condition is discussed. Under certain assumptions it is shown that the well-known Hwa-Bjorken exact solution of one-dimensional relativistic hydrodynamics is confined within the future/past light cone. It is also demonstrated that the total energy of such a solution is equal to zero and that there are regions within the light cone with negative ()(-) and positive (+)(+) total energies. For certain equations of state there is a continuous energy transfer from the ()(-)-regions to the (+)(+)-regions resulting in indefinite growth of energy in the (+)(+) regions with time, which may be interpreted as action of a specific 'Perpetuum Mobile' (Perpetuum Motion). It is speculated that if it is possible to construct a three-dimensional non-stationary flow of an exotic fluid having a finite negative value of energy such a situation would also occur. Such a flow may continuously transfer positive energy to gravitational waves, resulting in a runaway. It is conjectured that theories plagued by such solutions should be discarded as inherently unstable.Comment: accepted to Physics Letters
