    Fast pedestrian detection from a moving vehicle

The system uses both intensity and thermal images captured from cameras mounted at the front of the vehicle to train cascades of classifiers, which results in a detector that is able to detect a large percentage of pedestrians with very few false positives. The system has also been tested with inputs of high-resolution intensity images along with low-resolution thermal images, showing that the addition of even a low-resolution thermal camera may return better pedestrian detection results than using only intensity information alone.by Shuang You.M.Eng

    La visi贸n por computador es una rama de la inform谩tica, donde se trata de dotar a las m谩quinas de ese estimable sentido que es la vista. Esto unido a la inteligencia artificial, donde se quiere conseguir que un computador tenga consciencia, puede lograr que de manera autom谩tica y aut贸noma un ordenador pueda, por ejemplo, vigilar la seguridad de las personas. Por otro lado, la v铆deo-vigilancia puede procesar diferentes tipos de entradas para generar alertas que un usuario pueda utilizar para evitar un insatisfactorio suceso. No hace falta decir que la v铆deo-vigilancia no es nada sin la visi贸n artificial, la cual es la encargada de hacer todo el procesamiento de las entradas que proporcionan las c谩maras, y dar esas salidas que son las detecciones deseadas. Este proyecto consta de, por lo tanto, una uni贸n de ambas. Debe de conseguir, utilizando diferentes herramientas, la transparente unificaci贸n de todos estos conceptos. Para ello, se quiere como objetivo final conseguir detectar personas de una manera eficaz cuando estas est谩n en grupos de mayor o menor dimensi贸n. Concretando, buscamos una mejora en la detecci贸n de personas en presencia de grupos. En este tipo de escenarios es a煤n m谩s compleja la detecci贸n, dado que las personas pueden est谩n altamente ocluidas unas con otras. Este proyecto lo podr铆amos catalogar como I+D+i. Dado que se investiga todo lo relacionado con la visi贸n artificial y la v铆deo-vigilancia. Se desarrolla un software a modo de prototipo que dispone de todas las funcionalidades deseadas. Y tambi茅n se innova en la implementaci贸n propia de diferentes algoritmos. Por 煤ltimo, es importante recalcar que la principal vocaci贸n del presente trabajo es sentar las bases para el desarrollo posterior de diferentes aplicaciones relacionadas con la monitorizaci贸n autom谩tica de escenas tanto desde el punto de vista de la implementaci贸n eficiente como desde el punto de vista del dise帽o de nuevos algoritmos de detecci贸n.Computer vision is a field in computer science, which tries to provide machines with that appreciable sense that is sight. This coupled with artificial intelligence, where you want a computer to have consciousness, can make automatically and autonomously that computers, for example, monitor people safety. Furthermore, video surveillance can process different types of inputs to generate alerts that a user can use to avoid an unsatisfactory event. Needless to say that video surveillance is nothing without the artificial vision, which is responsible for all of the processing of the inputs, which the cameras provide, and give those outputs, which are the desire detections. This project involves, therefore, a junction of the two issues. It must achieve, using different tools, the transparent unification of all these concepts. Therefore, our final aim is to detect people effectively in crowd scenes. Specifying, we search an improvement in the people detection in the presence of the groups. In this type of scenario is even more complex detection, since people can are highly occluded with other persons. This project could be included as a I+D+i type. Since everything related to computer vision and video surveillance is investigated. Specific software is developed as a prototype that has all the desired features. And also innovates in the actual implementation of different algorithms. Finally, make clear that what we want is to be helpful to different projects that linked to this one, can increase knowledge, effectiveness and efficiency of different investigations and future implementations. Finally, it is important to stress that the main vocation of the present work is to as much lay the foundations for the later development of different applications related to the automatic monitoring from scenes from the point of view of the efficient implementation as from the point of view of the design of new algorithms of detection

Sono anche presentati un sistema di calibrazione automatica, e un sistema di rilevamento degli ostacoli in fase di sorpasso.In this work are described some modules for the detailed analysis of pedestrians using artificial vision, like the analysis of the shape, and the localization of the legs. An automatic calibration system is also described, together with an overtaking vehicles detection system

    [ES] El objetivo de esta tesina es realizar un estudio de algoritmos y paquetes software existentes en la plataforma ROS (Robot Operating System) para la detecci贸n de personas, y comprobar el funcionamiento de alguno de ellos. El estudio se centrar谩 principalmente en algoritmos que se basen en visi贸n artificial y sensores de rango para sistemas de tipo ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance Systems), en los que la detecci贸n de personas se utiliza para evitar accidentes. Se ha probado uno de los detectores existentes (Histrogram of Oriented Gradients o HOG) y se ha combinado con una t茅cnica de detecci贸n de objetos verticales, reduciendo el tiempo de ejecuci贸n[EN] In this project a survey of people detection algorithms and software in ROS framework is made.
