The multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission approach has been chosen to be a standard of fourth-generation (4G) wireless communication systems, but it has to cope with the main disadvantages and challenges of OFDM-based techniques, including the high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Peak to average power ratio (PAPR) being a predictable random variable in multicarrier system and it can be minimized by different techniques. Complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF) is used to describe the PAPR appropriately. Partial transmit sequence (PTS) is an attractive distortion less peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) reduction technique for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system. In this paper the performance of one of scrambling technique called partial transmit sequence (PTS) in MIMO-OFDM system and adjacent partitioning(one of the partitioning technique) in MIMO-OFDM system with PTS are analyzed based on the characteristics of CCDF DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.150514

An intelligent genetic algorithm for PAPR reduction in a multi-carrier CDMA wireless system

Abstract— A novel intelligent genetic algorithm (GA), called Minimum Distance guided GA (MDGA) is proposed for peak-average-power ratio (PAPR) reduction based on partial transmit sequence (PTS) scheme in a synchronous Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA) system. In contrast to traditional GA, our MDGA starts with a balanced ratio of exploration and exploitation which is maintained throughout the process. It introduces a novel replacement strategy which increases significantly the convergence rate and reduce dramatically computational complexity as compared to the conventional GA. The simulation results demonstrate that, if compared to the PAPR reduction schemes using exhaustive search and traditional GA, our scheme achieves 99.52% and 50+% reduction in computational complexity respectively

A Low Complexity Partial Transmit Sequence for Peak to Average Power Ratio Reduction in OFDM Systems

Partial transmit sequence (PTS) is one of the most important techniques for reducing the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) in OFDM systems. This paper presents a low complexity PTS scheme by applying a new phase sequence. Unlike the conventional PTS which needs several inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) operations, the proposed technique requires half IFFT operations only at the expense of slight PAPR degradation. Simulation and results are examined with QPSK modulation and OFDM signal and power amplifier with memory effects

Pada kombinasi teknik PTS dan clipping nilai BER 10-4 dicapai saat SNR bernilai 6 dB dan 8 dB, untuk modulasi BPSK dan QPSK.Kata Kunci : OFDM, PTS, Clipping, PAPRABSTRACT: Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a multicarrier technique that has resistance to fading, and high bandwidth efficiency. The major drawback of OFDM systems is the high of PAPR value. PAPR is the ratio of peak signal power to average power. So, it requires techniques that can reduce the PAPR value. This final project will simulate and analyze a combination of partial transmit sequence (PTS) and clipping technique to reduce the PAPR value. In this simulation, subcarriers are partitioned into several subblock, then each subblock is multiplied by particular factors phase. Then, the results of subblock combination having the lowest PAPR value will be processed in the clipping block. In this block the input signal of clipping will be restricted to a certain amplitude value. Input signal that exceeds that amplitude will be cut, so that PAPR reduction will be obtained. The simulation result shows that the use of the PTS technique only can reduce the PAPR value of 2.6 dB. While, if the PTS technique is combined with a clipping technique, they can reduce the PAPR of 6.719 dB. If only clipping technique is used, it can reduce the PAPR of 6.46 dB. In terms of system performance, using combination of PTS and clipping technique produce BER which tends to be the same with using PTS technique only, but smaller if it is compared with clipping techniques. In combination of PTS and clipping techniques BER 10-4 is achieved when the SNR value is 6 dB and 8 dB, for BPSK and QPSK modulation.Keyword: OFDM, PTS, Clipping, PAP

A Novel PTS Scheme for PAPR Reduction of Filtered-OFDM Signals without Side Information

In this paper, a novel partial transmit sequence (PTS) scheme is proposed for reducing the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of filtered orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (f-OFDM) systems. The PTS method is modified such that no side information (SI) transmission is needed. The data and pilot recovery are accomplished by a simple detector, making use of the correlation property of the Hadamard sequence and the transparency property of the pilot signal and an iterative phase detection is further added in a fading channel. Simulation results show that the modified solution provides a higher correct detection probability without increasing the system complexity nor affecting the PAPR suppression performance

A high PAPR value is one of important weaknesses in OFDM systems. Several reduction techniques are applied to reduce PAPR including partial transmit sequence (PTS) as well as clipping and filtering (CF). Adaptive iterative clipping and filtering is a development of iterative clipping and filtering techniques. In this paper, a combination of Partial transmits sequence and adaptive iterative clipping filtering (PTS-AICF) techniques on multi-antenna OFDM transmitters was carried out. The simulation results showed that combined technique application had a better performance than non-combined technique (PTS), either for two or four antennas, and also for different sub block numbers. Performance was also influenced by iterations number on AICF section, the more iterations were used, the better the reduction technique performance was because it produced smaller PAPR 0 value
