    Words of Love in Songs by Edith Piaf

    All her life, she sought love and sang about it. Édith Giovanna Gassion, known as Édith Piaf, recorded over 300 songs in which love has a special place. Just look at the titles of her songs to understand the meaning of love in the texts interpreted by Piaf: “J’ai dansĂ© avec l’amour”, “C’était une histoire d’amour”, “La vie, l’amour” or “l’Hymne Ă  l’amour”. In our article, we propose to analyze the place and contexts of using the noun love and the verb to love in the lyrics of songs written by Édith Piaf herself and by other authors of the lyrics who worked for her. This diagnostic study will make it possible to identify the entire lexicon linked to the words love and to love, to analyze their importance in Piaf’s work and to make a proposal with a didactic objective. The linguistic analysis will be supplemented with didactic reflection on the possibility of using songs about love from Piaf’s repertoire during French lessons as a foreign language.Toute sa vie, elle a cherchĂ© l’amour et l’a chantĂ©. Édith Giovanna Gassion, connue sous le nom d’Édith Piaf, a enregistrĂ© plus de trois cents chansons dans lesquelles l’amour a une place particuliĂšre. Il suffit de regarder les titres de ses chansons pour comprendre l’importance de l’amour dans les paroles interprĂ©tĂ©es par Piaf : J’ai dansĂ© avec l’amour, C’était une histoire d’amour, La vie, l’amour ou l’Hymne Ă  l’amour. Dans notre article, nous proposons d’analyser les contextes d’utilisation du nom amour et du verbe aimer dans les paroles de chansons Ă©crites par Édith Piaf elle-mĂȘme et par d’autres auteurs qui ont travaillĂ© pour elle. Cette Ă©tude Ă  caractĂšre diagnostique permettra de relever l’ensemble du lexique liĂ© aux mots amour et aimer, d’analyser leur importance dans l’Ɠuvre de Piaf et d’en faire une proposition Ă  objectif didactique. L’analyse linguistique sera donc complĂ©tĂ©e par une rĂ©flexion didactique sur la possibilitĂ© d’utiliser les chansons du rĂ©pertoire de Piaf dans les cours de français comme langue Ă©trangĂšre pour familiariser les apprenants avec le vocabulaire qui leur permettra d’exprimer leurs sentiments

Kertojan havaittavuuden asteita puretaan narratologisesti Seymour Chatmanin klassisen jaottelun avulla, ja tekstistĂ€ löydetÀÀnkin yhtĂ€ lukuun ottamatta kaikki kertojan lĂ€snĂ€olon asteet. Samalla tulee testatuksi Chatmanin alun perin fiktiotekstejĂ€ varten tarkoittaman mallin sopivuus faktatekstin tutkimiseen.     Gerda Taro and the origins of modern photojournalism in the Spanish Civil War

    RESUMEN: El hallazgo en MĂ©xico durante el año 2007 de mĂĄs de 4.000 negativos inĂ©ditos de la Guerra Civil Española pertenecientes a Robert Capa (Endre Ernö Friedmann), David Seymour (David Szymin, "Chim") y Gerda Taro (Gerda Pohorylle) ha puesto definitivamente en valor el trabajo de esta Ășltima, la primera fotoperiodista fallecida en el frente de acciĂłn por documentar desde primera lĂ­nea la guerra de España. El presente trabajo revisa el momento fotogrĂĄfico de la Guerra Civil Española a partir del trabajo de Gerda Taro a razĂłn del valor y significaciĂłn de sus fotografĂ­as. Para ello, se han estudiado 716 originales de la fotĂłgrafa en diferentes soportes (pelĂ­cula negativa de 35 mm y 6x6 cm, copias por contacto, copias de Ă©poca y modernas), y se han analizado pormenorizadamente algunas de estas fotografĂ­as mediante un mĂ©todo que ha permitido obtener conclusiones definitivas sobre el conjunto de su obra. Los resultados apuntan a que la prĂĄctica fotogrĂĄfica de Gerda Taro en la guerra de España contribuyĂł a la redefiniciĂłn del concepto de fotoperiodismo en occidente.ABSTRACT: The discovery in Mexico in 2007 of more than 4,000 unpublished negatives from the Spanish Civil War, owned by Robert Capa (Endre Ernö Friedmann), David Seymour (David Szymin, "Chim") and Gerda Taro (Gerda Pohorylle) has in particular shown the importance of the latters body of work. Taro is considered to be the first photographer to die during a war, whilst working on the front line of the Spanish Civil War. This paper reviews Taro's photographs that capture this important moment in time, in Taro's own, unique photojournalistic style. To do this, 716 original photographs were studied across different media, (35 mm negative films, 6x6 cm contact prints and enlargements), some of which have been thoroughly analyzed by a method that has led to precise conclusions about the body of work.     Syftet med uppsatsen Àr att genom en jÀmförande kvalitativ undersökning av de fyra litterÀra magasinen Vi lÀser, Books & Dreams, Fyrahundrafemtio och LitteraturMagazinet och undersöka hur boken och litteratur förmedlas i dessa litteraturmagasin. För att förstÄ bakgrunden till hur litteratur förmedlas i magasinen krÀvs en bredare förstÄelse för hur litteratur i allmÀnhet presenteras idag. DÀrför har uppsatsen sin teoretiska utgÄngspunkt i kulturstudier och diskussioner om litteraturen som en del av populÀrkulturen, om litteratur i förhÄllande till konsumtion, och i mediehistoria och teorier om konvergenskultur. Vi tar ocksÄ avstamp i teorier om en förÀndrad litteraturkritik.     Nella produzione musicale di Rodolfo De Angelis, cantautore di epoca fascista vicino al movimento futurista, \ue8 forte una componente di natura propagandistica che, conformemente alla visione ideologica del regime, mostra un'aperta ostilit\ue0 nei confronti dei Paesi stranieri. Ma, come dimostra l'analisi linguistica e musicale di diversi brani, se la satira e le critiche nei riguardi delle altre nazioni sono palesi e convinte da parte di De Angelis, altrettanto non pu\uf2 dirsi del velleitario ideale autarchico: \ue8 quanto emerge tra le righe di testi che fanno della variet\ue0 linguistica e del gioco verbale uno dei loro punti di forza.Rodolfo De Angelis was a singer-songwriter belonging to the Italian Futurism. Many of his songs show his connections with the Fascist ideology: the author mocked foreign nations, mistreating in particular Great Britain, France and Soviet Union and their leaders; but, on the other hand, it's undeniable that De Angelis didn't approve the autarchic politics fostered by Benito Mussolini. The songs analyzed in this paper stand out for their eccentricity and their linguistic varieties

    Cette lecture, tant critique, comparative, et thĂ©orique que pĂ©dagogique, s’ancre dans le constat, premiĂšrement, qu’il advient aux Ă©tudiantEs en littĂ©rature de se (re)poser la question des coĂ»ts et complicitĂ©s qu’apprendre Ă  lire et Ă  Ă©crire prĂ©suppose aujourd’hui; deuxiĂšmement, que nos pratiques littĂ©raires se trament au sein de lieux empreints de diffĂ©rences, que l’on peut nommer, selon le contexte, mĂ©taphore, rĂ©cit, ville; et, troisiĂšmement, que les efforts et investissements requis sont tout autant couteux et interminable qu’un plaisir et une nĂ©cessitĂ© politique. Ces conclusions tendent vers l’abstrait et le thĂ©orique, mais le langage en lequel elles sont articulĂ©es, langage corporel et urbain, de la dĂ©pendance et de la violence, cherche d’autant plus une qualitĂ© matĂ©rielle et concrĂšte. Or, l’introduction propose un survol des lectures et comparaisons de Heroine de Gail Scott qui centre ce projet; identifie les contextes institutionnels, historiques, et personnels qui risquent, ensuite, de dĂ©centrer celui-ci. Le premier chapitre permet de cerner le matĂ©rialisme littĂ©raire qui me sert de mĂ©thode par laquelle la littĂ©rature, Ă  la fois, sollicite et offre une rĂ©ponse Ă  ces interrogations thĂ©oriques. InspirĂ©e de l’Ɠuvre de Gail Scott et RĂ©jean Ducharme, premiĂšrement, et de Walter Benjamin, Elisabeth Grosz, et Pierre Macherey ensuite, ‘matĂ©rialisme’ fait rĂ©fĂ©rence Ă  cette collection de figures de pratiques littĂ©raires et urbaines qui proviennent, par exemple, de Georges Perec, Michel DeCerteau, Barbara Johnson, et Patricia Smart, et qui invitent ensuite une rĂ©flexions sur les relations entre corporalitĂ© et narrativitĂ©, entre la nĂ©cessitĂ© et la contingence du littĂ©raire. De plus, une collection de figures d’un MontrĂ©al littĂ©raire et d’une citĂ© pĂ©dagogique, acquis des Ɠuvres de Zygmunt Bauman, Partricia Godbout, et Lewis Mumford, constitue en effet un vocabulaire nous permettant de mieux dĂ©couvrir (et donc enseigner) ce que lire et apprendre requiert. Le deuxiĂšme chapitre propose une lecture comparĂ©e de Heroine et des romans des auteures quĂ©bĂ©coises Anne Dandurand, Marie Gagnon, et Tess Fragoulis, dans le contexte, premiĂšrement, les dĂ©bats entourant l’institutionnalisation de la littĂ©rature (anglo)QuĂ©bĂ©coise et, deuxiĂšmement, des questions pĂ©dagogiques et politiques plus larges et plus urgentes que nous pose, encore aujourd’hui, cette violence rĂ©currente qui s’acharna, par exemple, sur la Polytechnique en 1989. Or, cette intersection de la violence meurtriĂšre, la pratique littĂ©raire, et la pĂ©dagogie qui en rĂ©sulte se pose et s’articule, encore, par le biais d’une collection de figures de styles. En fait, Ă  travers le roman de Scott et de l’Ɠuvre critique qui en fait la lecture, une sĂ©rie de craques invite Ă  reconnaĂźtre Heroine comme Ă©tant, ce que j’appelle, un rĂ©cit de dĂ©pendance, au sein duquel se concrĂ©tise une temporalitĂ© rĂ©cursive et une logique d’introjection nous permettant de mieux comprendre la violence et, par consĂ©quent, le pouvoir d’une pratique littĂ©raire sur laquelle, ensuite, j’appuie ma pĂ©dagogie en devenir. Jetant, finalement, un regard rĂ©trospectif sur l’oeuvre dans son entier, la conclusion de ce projet se tourne aussi vers l’avant, c’est-Ă -dire, vers ce que mes lectures dites matĂ©rialistes de la littĂ©rature canadienne et quĂ©bĂ©coise contribuent Ă  mon enseignement de la langue anglaise en CorĂ©e du Sud. C’est dans ce contexte que les propos de Jacques RanciĂšre occasionnent un dernier questionnement quant Ă  l’historique des dĂ©bats et des structures pĂ©dagogiques en CorĂ©e, d’une part, et, de l’autre, les conclusions que cette lecture de la fiction thĂ©orique de Gail Scott nous livre.This simultaneously comparative, theoretical, and pedagogical project is rooted in the recognition that it behooves students and teachers to ask about the costs, complicities, and competing interests constantly involved in learning to read and write (about) literature today; that literary practice takes place in a space or a structure of irreducible differences called, variously, but not exclusively, metaphor, narrative, or the city; and that the labour and investments required therefore to negotiate our (dis)course towards becoming increasingly learned and literate subjects is as costly and interminable as likewise a pleasure and a political necessity. While such conclusions tend toward the relatively abstract, the language of bodies and cities, and of addiction and violence, is meant to be all the more concrete and material therefore. The introduction maps out the landscape of readings and comparisons of Gail Scott's Heroine that are the centre of the project and identifies the institutional, historical, and personal contexts that threaten at every turn to decentre my practice here. Chapter one articulates and illustrates the literary materialist methods employed, whereby literature is the preferred medium for conducting such theoretical investigations. Derived first from Gail Scott and RĂ©jean Ducharme's theoretical-fictions, and then from the work of Walter Benjamin, Elizabeth Grosz and Pierre Macherey, this materialism refers to a collection of figures of the world as a book, and to the close comparisons consequently of different representations of the practice of reading found, for instance, in George Perec, Michael DeCerteau, Barbara Johnson, and Patricia Smart, all of which invites an interrogation of the relationship between bodies and stories that make the simultaneous necessity and contingency of literary practice all the more legible and teachable. Similarly, a collection of figures of literary Montreal, and of the pedagogical city more generally, gathered from a range of writers including Zygmunt Bauman, Patricia Godbout, and Lewis Mumford, provides a vocabulary in which to better describe what the differential spaces of literature look and feel like and what reading in turn (and learning) requires. Chapter two reads Scott's Heroine alongside other contemporary QuĂ©bĂ©cois women writers, including Anne Dandurand, Marie Gagnon and Tess Fragoulis, initially, in the context of debates surrounding the institutionalization of (anglo)Quebec literature, but then in terms too of the much broader and more urgent pedagogical and political questions raised by the recurrence of gun violence at schools like the Polytechnique in Montreal, in 1989. That question of the relationship between violence, literary practice, and pedagogy, here, is compelled and enabled, specifically, by a collection of literary figures. Specifically, a series of cracks in both Scott's narrative and across much of the body of critical writing about her work, invites a reading of Heroine as a narrative of addiction, so-called, whereby the peculiarly recursive temporality of addiction, as well as its logic of introjection, invite a better understanding of the violence and power of the practice of literature upon which, in turn, is grounded the pedagogy under construction here. Looking back, then, onto the work the project does as a whole, the conclusion looks forward also to the ways in which the materialist readings of literature here lead and contribute to the author's teaching of language to aspiring teachers of English as a foreign language in Korea. In this context, the assumptions investing Jacques Ranciere's work provide a frame for my intersecting of the history of educational debates and structures in Korea and the conclusions drawn in these close literary readings of Gail Scott's experimental prose

    trĂĄnsitos: feria, vida, arte

    “TrĂĄnsitos: feria, vida, arte” es el tĂ­tulo del Trabajo Fin de Grado que nace como resultado de la reflexiĂłn sobre la frase del filĂłsofo griego DemĂłcrito de Abdea: “La vida es un trĂĄnsito, el mundo una sala de espectĂĄculos; el hombre entra en ella, mira y sale”. La vida es movimiento; entendido como un recorrido, como el transcurrir. Al tratarse de un espectĂĄculo ambulante, la feria encaja con la frase que citarĂ­a dicho filĂłsofo, ya que es un espectĂĄculo que no se puede desvincular del desplazamiento. El arte y la vida sucumben de igual manera ante esa misma caracterĂ­stica de trĂĄnsito. Estableciendo un cruce entre los tĂ©rminos: feria, vida, arte; se logra encontrar puntos de uniĂłn con los que el espectador pueda pensar y reflexionar acerca de diferentes aspectos cotidianos de la vida. Previamente se lleva un trabajo de investigaciĂłn sobre el gremio de la feria en el que se incluye: su sistema de trabajo, modo de vida y un anĂĄlisis de la parte artĂ­stica que la envuelve. El trabajo se apoya y se argumenta a travĂ©s de diversos autores comprendidos en un extenso abanico de disciplinas: filosofĂ­a, artes plĂĄsticas, literatura, mĂșsica y psicologĂ­a. Con todo ello el resultado obtenido es un trabajo en el que se aproxima al espectador a una recreaciĂłn de la feria en una revisiĂłn personal y fidedigna de la misma debido a la vinculaciĂłn que une al autor con dicho gremio. Donde el conjunto de imagen y texto que construyen la pieza tienen una doble lectura, que inevitablemente invitan a la reflexiĂłn personal del que se encuentra frente a ella. Se construye un retrato de la sociedad, mostrando aspectos del dĂ­a a dĂ­a bajo la mĂĄscara de lo lĂșdico y del entretenimiento. Sin embargo, el trabajo incluye una parte de autorretrato, puesto que es imposible deshacer los lazos que unen al autor con el tema tratado al ser parte de su experiencia de vida El trabajo finaliza con la puesta en escena de la exposiciĂłn “TrĂĄnsitos: feria, vida, arte”, parte imprescindible donde todo el proceso de investigaciĂłn y la argumentaciĂłn se materializan
