A Framework for Digital Twins for Production Network Management
The dynamic and highly complex task of production network management requires decision support through quantitative models. In the industrial praxis, these models are specifically designed and implemented for particular management decisions, requiring significant one-time effort for model creation. This contribution utilizes the digital twin concept to facilitate production network models that are continuously synchronized with the examined production network to support several different management decisions. The approach structures data from existing information systems as a synchronized generic base model, which is used to create problem-specific executable models, thereby saving costs through repeated model use and quicker decision making

Towards a Configurative Publication Schema for Design Science Research
Design science research (DSR) has matured and gained acceptance as an appropriate information systems research method. Despite the increasing number of DSR publications there is still no common sense and no comprehensive guidance how to present DSR in scientific literature. Therefore, this paper investigates the potential of a configurative DSR publication schema by means of a reference model allowing the deduction of concrete publication schemas. These schemas provide more detailed advice depending on the particular research context, such as the intended artifact type, the evaluation method, or the knowledge contribution type. By identifying configuration parameters (through an investigation of 13 DSR meta-analysis papers) and common configurations (through a meta-analysis of 52 DSR journal publications) we lay the foundations for a configurative reference model which can be adapted to provide detailed guidance in concrete DSR publication situations for both authors and reviewers. On the evaluation of reference models for software engineering practice.
This paper argues that conceptual models and more specifically reference models play a key role in the specification and design of information systems. However, an effective evaluation strategy of such models is a relatively immature field. The paper presents the key challenges for this evaluation activity and articulates an approach for understanding how to evaluate models based on the information and cognitive theories of structuralism and conversation theory. An example of a reference model developed for the Higher Education domain is used as a case study to illustrate how the approach may be applied

A framework for cost evaluation in product service system configuration
Configuration systems are increasingly used as a means for efficient design of customised product service systems (PSS) to satisfy diverse customer needs. Cost evaluation is thereby important to assist the configuration engineers in making decisions on feasible configuration solutions. However, little research attention has been received until recently. To fill this gap, this paper contributes in developing a framework for cost evaluation in PSS configuration. A holistic view of PSS configuration, the three-dimensional PSS cost element, and a life cycle-oriented cost evaluation approach are successively proposed. The framework is thereby established with a number of parts, including the preparatory stage, the evaluation stage and the configuration stage. A pump PSS is illustrated to validate the developed framework. Four feasible configuration solutions in one configuration activity are evaluated and compared. The configuration engineers are thus assisted with the decision on selecting the one with the least cost

The primary goal of this thesis is to propose a reference model and an accompanying software system architecture, which together can serve as a guiding framework for the analysis, design, and implementation of distributed market spaces. The benefit of such a framework is considered two-fold: On the one hand, it provides insights essential for understanding various aspects and elements of self-organized and strictly decentralized online structures to facilitate the emergence of the post-platform economy. On the other hand, it serves as a blueprint for designing and implementing a distributed marketplace instance for a specific application context. It thus allows consumers and providers to set up and expand market spaces themselves, in which they can engage directly and reliably with complex product scenarios

Cities Made of Boundaries presents the theoretical foundation and concepts for a new social scientific urban morphological mapping method, Boundary Line Type (BLT) Mapping.
