Background and aims: Risk of implementing invasive diagnostic procedures for coronary artery disease (CAD) such as angiography is considerable. On the other hand, Successful experience has been achieved in medical data mining approaches. Therefore this study has been done to produce a model based on data mining techniques of neural networks that can predict coronary artery disease. Methods: In this descriptive- analytical study, the data set includes nine risk factors of 13228 participants who were undergone angiography at Tehran Heart Center. (4059 participants were not suffering from CAD but 9169 were suffering from CAD). Producing model for predicting coronary artery disease was done based on multilayer perceptron neural networks and variable selection based on classification and regression tree (CART) using of Statistica software. For comparison and selection of best model, the ROC curve analysis was used. Results: After seven-time modeling and comparing the generated models, the final model consists of all existing risk factors obtained with the area under ROC curve of 0.754, accuracy of 74.19%, sensitivity of 92.41% and specificity of 33.25% .Also, variable selection results in producing a model consists of four risk factors with area under ROC curve of 0.737, accuracy of 74.19%, sensitivity of 93.34% and specificity of 31.17% was produced. Conclusion: The obtained model is produced based on neural networks. The model is able to identify both high risk patients and acceptable number of healthy subjects. Also, utilizing the feature selection in this study ends up in production of a model which consists of only four risk factors as: age, sex, diabetes and high blood pressure

One of the most common and most dangerous diseases of blood fats are such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke, heart and brain. It can control the timely diagnosis, treatment and then prevention of complications is become very effective even without using medicine. Heart disease and diabetes file if patients has useful information that can be used to estimate blood fat timely diagnosis. In this paper we introduce a method based on data mining according to the information of patients' medical records to predict and detect blood lipid cardiovascular. And to identify patients with high blood lipids,we use a category based on neural network without feedback and pso algorithm to train the neural network to determine the appropriate value to reduce error the weights of the neural network . Simulation is done in MATLAB environment by using Body Fat data set, it shows the accuracy of 93.22 percent compared to the same methods, which means high accurate, higher detection sensitivity and Democrats

Heart disease is one of the major causes of morbidity in the world. Currently, large proportions of healthcare data are not processed properly, thus, failing to be effectively used for decision making purposes. The risk of heart disease may be predicted via investigation of heart disease risk factors coupled with data mining knowledge. This paper presents a model developed using combined descriptive and predictive techniques of data mining that aims to aid specialists in the healthcare system to effectively predict patients with Coronary Artery Disease (CAD). To achieve this objective, some clustering and classification techniques are used. First, the number of clusters are determined using clustering indexes. Next, some types of decision tree methods and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) are applied to each cluster in order to predict CAD patients. Finally, results obtained show that the C&RT decision tree method performs best on all data used in this study with 0.074 error. All data used in this study are real and are collected from a heart clinic database

The concept of medical procedure refers to the set of activities carried out by the health care professionals to solve or mitigate the health problems that affect a patient. Decisions making within a medical procedure has been, for a long time, one of the most interesting research areas in medical informatics and the research context of this thesis. The motivation to develop this research work is based on three main aspects: Nowadays there are not knowledge models for all the medical-clinical activities that can be induced from medical data, there are not inductive learning solutions for all the medical-clinical activities, and there is not an integral model that formalizes the concept of medical procedure. Therefore, our main objective is to develop a computable model based in knowledge that integrates all the decision and planning activities for the medical-clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. To achieve this main objective: first, we explain the research problem. Second, we describe the background of the work from both the medical and the informatics contexts. Third, we explain the development of the research proposal based on four main contributions: a novel knowledge representation model, based in data, to the planning activity in medical-clinical diagnosis and treatment; a novel inductive learning methodology to the planning activity in diagnosis and medical-clinical treatment; a novel inductive learning methodology to the decision activity in medical-clinical prognosis, and finally, a novel computable model, based on data and knowledge, which integrates the decision and planning activities of medical-clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis
