Trends in Patient Generated Data – An Initial Review

In recent years, patient-centered care has gained significant momentum in healthcare and the patient is more involved as an active participant in data generation. In this state of the art review we identify trends in patient generated data (PGD) and areas in need of further research by reviewing papers published in the health tracks of five high-ranked IS conferences. Our results suggest that research is mostly empirically grounded and primarily focuses on sickness rather than wellness issues. There is an emphasis on chronic diseases and self-management, dealing with user motivation, and a focus mostly on mobile apps. Though technology plays an important part, there is scarce problematization of and theorization on PGD. Further studies are needed that investigate the effects of PGD on patients and healthcare providers, include a wider range of issues and incorporate wearable devices more comprehensively

Seizing the business opportunities of MyData service delivery network: Transforming the Business Models for Health Insurance Companies

Purpose: This paper discusses how personal data-driven service delivery networks based on MyData phenomenon may impact and transform the business models and offer new kinds of business opportunities especially for health insurance business Design/Methodology/Approach: This research is a case study / empirical Findings: This study demonstrates how health insurance organizations are heading towards acting as active members of human centric, collaborative service delivery networks. The biggest opportunity transformation from transaction based to service-based businesss Research limitations/implications:  As the use of personal data is still a paradigm in Europe, the results of this study address the potential use and implications and cannot be validated through large-scale empirical studies. Practical implications: This research highlights how companies should build adaptable service architecture that are easily connected or disconnected from the other organizations in their business ecosystems in order to allow smooth data usage and sharing. Teenage Visitor Experience: Classification of Behavioral Dynamics in Museums

Teenagers' engagement in museums is much talked about but little research has been done to understand their behavior and inform design. Findings from co-design sessions with teenagers suggested they value games and stories when thinking about enjoyable museum tours. Informed by these findings and working with a natural history museum, we designed: a story-based tour (Turning Point) and a game-based tour (Haunted Encounters), informed by similar content. The two strategies were evaluated with 78 teenagers (15-19 years old) visiting the museum as part of an educational school trip. We assessed teenagers' personality in class; qualitative and quantitative data on their engagement, experience, and usability of the apps were collected at the museum. The triangulation of quantitative and qualitative data show personality traits mapping into different behaviors. We offer implications for the design of museum apps targeted to teenagers, a group known as difficult to reach

The Trajectory of IT in Healthcare at HICSS: A Literature Review, Analysis, and Future Directions

Research has extensively demonstrated that healthcare industry has rapidly implemented and adopted information technology in recent years. Research in health information technology (HIT), which represents a major component of the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, demonstrates similar findings. In this paper, review the literature to better understand the work on HIT that researchers have conducted in HICSS from 2008 to 2017. In doing so, we identify themes, methods, technology types, research populations, context, and emerged research gaps from the reviewed literature. With much change and development in the HIT field and varying levels of adoption, this review uncovers, catalogs, and analyzes the research in HIT at HICSS in this ten-year period and provides future directions for research in the field
