Teaching Cultural Heritage using Mobile Augmented Reality
open2noThe relationship between augmented reality, mobile learning, gamification and non-formal education methods provide a great potential. The AR-CIMUVE Augmented Reality for the Walled Cities of the Veneto is an original project in collaboration with Italia Nostra and other associations which deal with transmitting our cultural heritage and which teach primary and middle school children the cultural and historical importance of the Venetoâs and the surrounding territoriesâ walled cities. In this learning experience students will explore how our environment has developed across the ages using the mobile devices with the technical back-up of the AR App. This will allow them to see maps, examine data, 3D models and will enable them to judge and improve their skills. From a pedagogical and educational point of view the emphasis is on a constructivist social-cultural approach which helps students to become active citizens more aware of their historical identity.openPetrucco, Corrado; Agostini, DanielePetrucco, Corrado; Agostini, Daniel
Architecture design of Jing Gangshan virtual tourism system based on WebVR
In view of the current mainstream VR virtual tourism system, because of the heavy virtual scenes and limited network bandwidth, tourists can't browse the WEB pages directly, and they need to download plugins or client systems to browse. This paper studies the lightweight architecture of virtual tourism roaming system. Research technologies such as lightweight modeling of 3D scenes, 3D engine call and lightweight script design, build a cloud storage transmission platform, integrate key technologies such as tour guides, and construct the online Jinggangshan WebVR system. The system based on this architecture will enable visitors to browse Web pages directly, online and quickly in real time, and improve the sense of interaction and immersion of the system

The evaluation results of the media usage were measured by three experts and three official staff from the Loei Tourism and Sports Bureau, the efficiency average result is 4.54, the effectiveness score is 4.55, the flexibility score is 4.62, all at the highest level, the learning ability is 4.44 at a high level. And finally for user satisfaction, were evaluated by 30 tourists, have an average score at 4.52 which also at the highest level. Accordingly to the evaluation, it can be concluded that these augmented reality media are another suitable way to publicize the unseen tourist attractions in Loei province. Keywords: Public Relation Media, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, Unseen Muang-Loei, Augmented Realit
Augmented Reality Birdwatching in Mindo
The project reported in this dissertation presents the development of an Android mobile application to be used for birdwatching in Mindo - Ecuador. The application has as target audience tourists and as main goal to share information about the species that inhabit the aforementioned place to improve tourist experience; it provides routes to follow with points of interest in which the users can find bird species. In addition to this, the application provides scientific information and highlights the most important characteristics of bird species, information about the threats that may be exposing these species to extinction and multimedia content like images, videos and sounds of those species.
As a distinctive feature, this application uses augmented reality to enhance birdwatching experience; it allows the user to interact in a different way with nature and offers the opportunity to perceive virtual 3D models of some birds and take photos of it to share on social networks or simply to save on the device.
To manage all the content of the application, a web-based backoffice was also developed, to add, edit or remove routes, spots and species including their information, images, videos and sounds.
The augmented reality, together with the user-friendly interface make the application very interactive and attractive to the user, likewise, the backoffice allows a simple administration of the content

Virtual and Real World in Mobile Reality
Technology in education has impacted many ways in student's life to learn enthusiastically by giving better and more than expected results. Some research stated that technology will create a passive process if it doesn't promote critical thinking. To support the statement Augmented Reality (AR) has shown the best potential to make learning more interactive and easy. It's because of the feature of AR that lets us interact with things in virtual and real-time. Therefore this paper represents the idea of using AR in education
Desenvolvimento de aplicaçÃĩes de smartphone usando tecnologias web
Mestrado em Engenharia de Computadores e TelemÃĄticaThe smartphone market in recent years has grown sharply and with it the possibilities to mobile devices programmers have also grown. This expanding market is currently dominated by two operating systems: Android and iOS. Although these two have a big share of the market (91% of the smartphones sales in 2012 were from one of these two systems) is in the programmer interest to develop applications that are compatible with the largest number of devices and operating systems possible.
Companies like PT InovaçÃĢo have great interest in this market and want to have at their disposal the best tools available to develop application that can attract customers. As such, this dissertation is a study, proposed by PT InovaçÃĢo, of a method for the development of mobile applications, which makes easier to create applications compatible with several devices and systems. The aforementioned method is the development of mobile applications based on web technologies (HTML5, CSS and Javascript). To study this method several mobiles hybrid applications were developed based in applications already developed, by PT InovaçÃĢo, using native technology. After the development phase, it was made a comparative study between the hybrid and the native applications, to comprehend which ones had better performance, were easier to develop and had more appealing design, for the several elements that constituted the applications.
