Structural reliability of electrical objects. Theory and examples of solving tasks

    Get PDF
Structural reliability of energy objects is one of the most important topics of study in the study of specialty disciplines in the field of Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electromechanics. Students in the specialty "Renewable Energy and High Voltage Engineering and Electrophysics" should have a clear understanding of the nature of structural redundancy issues, be able to evaluate the actual level of reliability through appropriate analysis and know the ways and means of ensuring trouble–free operation of power systems, subsystems and objects of renewable energy

Implementing total productive maintenance in Nigerian manufacturing industries

    Get PDF
Remarkable improvements have occurred recently in the maintenance management of physical assets and productive systems, so that less wastages of energy and resources occur. The requirement for optimal preventive maintenance using, for instance, justin-time (JIT) and total quality-management (TQM) techniques has given rise to whathas been called the total productive-maintenance (TPM) approach. This study explores the ways in which Nigerian manufacturing industries can implement TPM as a strategy and culture for improving its performance and suggests self-auditing and bench-marking as desirable prerequisites before TPM implementation

PM4 SMP model proposed for system reliability criticality assessment and maintainability improvement

    Get PDF
This paper gives a practical systematic approach towards the maintenance procedure optimisation of a critical industrial unit in operation, to improve its maintainability. The resolution of the maintainability challenge in the industrial unit (Vibrating screen unit - VSU) was realised by performing a two-phase critical analysis, encompassing criticality and maintainability assessment. The criticality assessment comprised of failure investigation using fault tree analysis (FTA), vulnerability analysis using reliability block diagram (RBD), and failure mode effect and criticality analysis (FMECA). Furthermore, a maintainability assessment was performed on the industrial unit and improvement opportunities were identified. A generic model (PM4 Model) was conceptualised and used to improve the mean time to repair (MTTR) through a well-documented standard maintenance procedure (SMP)

Contribution to Integrating Maintainability into Preliminary Design Based on TRIZ

In the face of the competition, the companies have, possibly more than in the past, a need to innovate. However, if the innovation can be of various natures (product, process, methods, organization…), the search for new solutions to technical problems as soon as the Design phase takes a non-negligible part, and certainly constitutes most of the Innovations “radical”, especially when they relate to the product. Conventional methods designed to resolve these problems are often psychological character: methods of creativity. The best known example is the brainstorming session. In all object creation models, of products or of development it is essential, today, to take into account the dimension safety of operation and valuing each project of creation. Of this fact, in addition to the factors related to the optimization of resources, the use of materials and the minimization of releases, it is important to be attentive to the parameters of the safety of operation in the design phase and more specifically to the maintainability of a system repaired. In effect, for its successful integration, and in order to assist teams of design in meeting of creativity or small businesses in the development of their product, we propose a methodological approach based on TRIZ that will solve the problem of the integration of the maintainability in preliminary design phase by generating new concepts of solution in a time reduces which constitutes a decision aid for designers in the case of innovative concepts of product, of space or process. In fact, to succeed its integration, and to assist creative teams in creative sessions or small businesses in the development of their product, we propose a methodological approach based on the TRIZ that will solve the problem of integrating maintainability into the preliminary design phase by generating new solution concepts in reduced time that provide decision support for designers in case of innovative concepts of product, space or process concepts

Reliability, Availability and Maintainability Study of a Light Rail Transit System

    Get PDF
The TFG title mentioned consists on a RAM Study of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) System. Its aim lies in achieving a defined level of service in a given time, by demonstrating quantitatively and qualitatively the availability of the system. The Quality of the Service has to be guaranteed by the application of engineering concepts, methods, techniques and tools, such as ITEM Toolkit.    This study is a first approach to the Preliminary Engineering Analysis of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) System. The study is divided into four interrelated parts. The first one consists on a presentation of the RAM Discipline, by a development of its theoretical foundations and the four Key Performance Indicators used through all the study. The methodology employed during the analysis and actual methods used for RAM analysis are also described in this section. Then, it has been developed a Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA) with a subsequent Sensitive Analysis to ensure that the results are binary in terms of probability. With that, a consequent Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) has been carried out. After that, the third part of the study provides the LRT RAM Requirements Apportionment and last, but not least, Preventive/Corrective Actions have been proposed

Quality of unmanned aerial vehicles: ergodesign aspect

    Get PDF
In the modern world, scientific and practical ergodesign activity on the development and use of drones, the concept of "human factor" is becoming more and more important. It is one of the main studies in improving the safety, efficiency and comfort of the "man - unmanned aerial vehicle" system operation. The most promising research is aimed at the application and development of new approaches to the evaluation of algorithms for unmanned aircraft maintenanceand the organization of their operators` activities. The system of unmanned aerial vehicles ergodesign quality indicators developed and presented in a tabular form reflects practically all design and ergonomic properties of modern unmanned aerial systems. It is based on the existing normative documentation in Ukraine developed by the authors, harmonized with international and European standards. It allows the analysis and evaluation of unmanned aerial vehicles in order to take into account consumer interests at the beginning of their design reducing the assimilation time of products and preventing irrational production costs. The results of such an analysis underlie the development of technical documentation, standards, and specifications. They should be taken into account when putting products into production

Economic and environmental impact assessment through system dynamics of technology-enhanced maintenance services

    Get PDF
This work presents an economic and environmental impact assessment of maintenance services in order to evaluate how they contribute to sustainable value creation through field service delivery supported by advanced technologies. To this end, systems dynamics is used to assist the prediction of economic and environmental impacts of maintenance services supported by the use of an e-maintenance platform implementing prognosis and health management. A special concern is given to the energy use and related carbon footprint as environmental impacts

The approach of revelation of the Quran and al Sunnah to dealing with soul and mental disorders after the COVID-19 outbreak

    Get PDF
A healthy and fit soul is one of each individual's essential needs in order to interact with the environment and construct a better future. Since the beginning of 2019, the COVID-19 outbreak has spread rapidly worldwide. It has raised concerns and had negative consequences for soul and mental health. This is a serious problem for both individuals and society as a whole. This research tries to describe how mental and mental diseases were treated and dealt with during and after the COVID-19 pandemic from the perspective of the Qur'an and Sunnah as divine Revelations. Islam, being a religion concerned with the wellbeing of the ummah, has provided a teaching principle on how to manage and deal with various soul and mental diseases. This approach is one of the best alternatives that is expected to have a significant impact on achieving a healthy soul in the face of long-term pandemic challenges and conjectures. There are several methods promoted by Islam in treating soul and mental disorders, including; always maintain personal hygiene through taharah, reading or listening of the Quran, practicing halal and healthy eating, taubat (repentance) and istighfar, patience and fasting
