Modern education technologies are destined to reflect the realities of a modern digital age. The juxtaposition of real and synthetic (computer-generated) worlds as well as a greater emphasis on visual dimension are especially important characteristics that have to be taken into account in learning and teaching. We describe the ways in which an approach to constructive shape modelling can be used to advancing creative visual thinking in artistic and technical education. This approach assumes the use of a simple programming language or interactive software tools for creating a shape model, generating its images, and finally fabricating a real object of that model. It can be considered an educational technology suitable not only for children and students but also for researchers, artists, and designers. The corresponding modelling language and software tools are being developed within an international HyperFun Project. These tools are easy to use by students of different age, specialization and abilities, and can easily be extended and adapted for various educational purposes in different areas

Beyond developable: computational design and fabrication with auxetic materials

    Get PDF
We present a computational method for interactive 3D design and rationalization of surfaces via auxetic materials, i.e., flat flexible material that can stretch uniformly up to a certain extent. A key motivation for studying such material is that one can approximate doubly-curved surfaces (such as the sphere) using only flat pieces, making it attractive for fabrication. We physically realize surfaces by introducing cuts into approximately inextensible material such as sheet metal, plastic, or leather. The cutting pattern is modeled as a regular triangular linkage that yields hexagonal openings of spatially-varying radius when stretched. In the same way that isometry is fundamental to modeling developable surfaces, we leverage conformal geometry to understand auxetic design. In particular, we compute a global conformal map with bounded scale factor to initialize an otherwise intractable non-linear optimization. We demonstrate that this global approach can handle non-trivial topology and non-local dependencies inherent in auxetic material. Design studies and physical prototypes are used to illustrate a wide range of possible applications

    Get PDF
The middle stage between product concept and manufacturing is modeling and assembly of components. A 3D model and assembly model of component offers user to easily understand and concreate view of component design. But during assembly making of components, user is impatient of repetitive task (i.e. assembly of same component but have different varieties) and thousands of mouse clicking (like rotation, zoom in, zoom out). Also use require the large knowledge skill of modeling software. To avoid all these problems customization of CAD software is must. In this paper automated assembly of screw conveyor is done in CATIA (CAD software) by using VBA programming language. Due to this the time required for assembly of screw conveyor is reduced up to 70-90%

Since the invention of the first electronic computer in 1946, digital technologyhas gone through three stages: the computer, the Internet, and a new-generation of information technology. The form of digitalization has different background andenvironment, and the meaning explained is also different. The digitalization ofspecific affairs is actually in a narrow sense, while the digitalization of enterprises and organizations is mostly in a broad sense. Digital technology has a big feature, which is that it can let you leave the physical world and come to the digital world. The digital technology revolution promotes the digital transformation of mankind. The new generation of digital technology is changing with each passing day, and various industries are increasingly using digital technology to create value, accelerating the speed of digital change in various industries. And this change, in the art industry, refined to the jewelry art exhibition has been greatly affected.Jewelry art exhibition from the traditional offline exhibition, showcase exhibition, curator on-site explanation, to from the two-dimensional graphic information todigital jewelry art, evolved to various new digital technology fields such asthree-dimensional and metaverse technology. Under the digital technology, the art and jewelry can break through various objective restrictions and quickly producecustomized products. Even in the epidemic period, the digital technology can meetpeople\u27s needs. Digital technology has realized the online art work of offline entities, showing the diversity of art through various forms, Also with the support of encryption technology. realizing the uniqueness and security of art works. This change is undoubtedly historic, and it means the birth of a new art form, besides art, of course, it also involves all walks of life. Similarly, the combined application of the digital technology and the jewelry art exhibition expands the expression form of the jewelry art, and also makes the jewelry art collection and the lovers experience a brand new way of contact. WordArt Designer: User-Driven Artistic Typography Synthesis using Large Language Models

This paper introduces WordArt Designer, a user-driven framework for artistic typography synthesis, relying on the Large Language Model (LLM). The system incorporates four key modules: the LLM Engine, SemTypo, StyTypo, and TexTypo modules. 1) The LLM Engine, empowered by the LLM (e.g., GPT-3.5), interprets user inputs and generates actionable prompts for the other modules, thereby transforming abstract concepts into tangible designs. 2) The SemTypo module optimizes font designs using semantic concepts, striking a balance between artistic transformation and readability. 3) Building on the semantic layout provided by the SemTypo module, the StyTypo module creates smooth, refined images. 4) The TexTypo module further enhances the design's aesthetics through texture rendering, enabling the generation of inventive textured fonts. Notably, WordArt Designer highlights the fusion of generative AI with artistic typography. © 2018 The Authors Computer Graphics Forum © 2018 The Eurographics Association and John Wiley & Sons Ltd. Digital fabrication devices are powerful tools for creating tangible reproductions of 3D digital models. Most available printing technologies aim at producing an accurate copy of a tridimensional shape. However, fabrication technologies can also be used to create a stylistic representation of a digital shape. We refer to this class of methods as ‘stylized fabrication methods’. These methods abstract geometric and physical features of a given shape to create an unconventional representation, to produce an optical illusion or to devise a particular interaction with the fabricated model. In this state-of-the-art report, we classify and overview this broad and emerging class of approaches and also propose possible directions for future research
