DOH: A Content Delivery Peer-to-Peer Network
Many SMEs and non-pro¯t organizations su®er when their Web
servers become unavailable due to °ash crowd e®ects when their web site
becomes popular. One of the solutions to the °ash-crowd problem is to place
the web site on a scalable CDN (Content Delivery Network) that replicates
the content and distributes the load in order to improve its response time.
In this paper, we present our approach to building a scalable Web Hosting
environment as a CDN on top of a structured peer-to-peer system of collaborative
web-servers integrated to share the load and to improve the overall
system performance, scalability, availability and robustness. Unlike clusterbased
solutions, it can run on heterogeneous hardware, over geographically
dispersed areas. To validate and evaluate our approach, we have developed a
system prototype called DOH (DKS Organized Hosting) that is a CDN implemented
on top of the DKS (Distributed K-nary Search) structured P2P
system with DHT (Distributed Hash table) functionality [9]. The prototype
is implemented in Java, using the DKS middleware, the Jetty web-server, and
a modiÂŻed JavaFTP server. The proposed design of CDN has been evaluated
by simulation and by evaluation experiments on the prototype
CyberLiveApp: a secure sharing and migration approach for live virtual desktop applications in a cloud environment
In recent years we have witnessed the rapid advent of cloud computing, in which the remote software is delivered as a service and accessed by users using a thin client over the Internet. In particular, the traditional desktop application can execute in the remote virtual machines without re-architecture providing a personal desktop experience to users through remote display technologies. However, existing cloud desktop applications mainly achieve isolation environments using virtual machines (VMs), which cannot adequately support application-oriented collaborations between multiple users and VMs. In this paper, we propose a flexible collaboration approach, named CyberLiveApp, to enable live virtual desktop applications sharing based on a cloud and virtualization infrastructure. The CyberLiveApp supports secure application sharing and on-demand migration among multiple users or equipment. To support VM desktop sharing among multiple users, a secure access mechanism is developed to distinguish view privileges allowing window operation events to be tracked to compute hidden window areas in real time. A proxy-based window filtering mechanism is also proposed to deliver desktops to different users. To support application sharing and migration between VMs, we use the presentation streaming redirection mechanism and VM cloning service. A Highly Available Cluster of Web Servers with Increased Storage Capacity

location strategy has been either full replication or full distribution. In previous works we have showed that partial replication offers a good balance between storage capacity and reliability. It offers much higher
storage capacity while reliability may be kept at an equivalent level of that from fully replicated solutions.
In this paper we present the architectural details of Web cluster solutions adapted to partial replication.
We also show that partial replication does not imply a penalty in performance over classical fully replicated architectures. For evaluation purposes we have used a simulation model under the OMNeT++ framework and we use mean service time as a performance comparison metric.Publicad
Re-designing Dynamic Content Delivery in the Light of a Virtualized Infrastructure
We explore the opportunities and design options enabled by novel SDN and NFV
technologies, by re-designing a dynamic Content Delivery Network (CDN) service.
Our system, named MOSTO, provides performance levels comparable to that of a
regular CDN, but does not require the deployment of a large distributed
infrastructure. In the process of designing the system, we identify relevant
functions that could be integrated in the future Internet infrastructure. Such
functions greatly simplify the design and effectiveness of services such as
MOSTO. We demonstrate our system using a mixture of simulation, emulation,
testbed experiments and by realizing a proof-of-concept deployment in a
