Reduction of dimension for nonlinear dynamical systems
We consider reduction of dimension for nonlinear dynamical systems. We
demonstrate that in some cases, one can reduce a nonlinear system of equations
into a single equation for one of the state variables, and this can be useful
for computing the solution when using a variety of analytical approaches. In
the case where this reduction is possible, we employ differential elimination
to obtain the reduced system. While analytical, the approach is algorithmic,
and is implemented in symbolic software such as {\sc MAPLE} or {\sc SageMath}.
In other cases, the reduction cannot be performed strictly in terms of
differential operators, and one obtains integro-differential operators, which
may still be useful. In either case, one can use the reduced equation to both
approximate solutions for the state variables and perform chaos diagnostics
more efficiently than could be done for the original higher-dimensional system,
as well as to construct Lyapunov functions which help in the large-time study
of the state variables. A number of chaotic and hyperchaotic dynamical systems
are used as examples in order to motivate the approach.Comment: 16 pages, no figure
A Novel Four-Wing Hyperchaotic Complex System and Its Complex Modified Hybrid Projective Synchronization with Different Dimensions
We introduce a new Dadras system with complex variables
which can exhibit both four-wing hyperchaotic and chaotic attractors. Some dynamic properties of the system have been described including Lyapunov exponents, fractal dimensions, and Poincaré maps. More importantly,
we focus on a new type of synchronization method of modified hybrid project
synchronization with complex transformation matrix (CMHPS) for different
dimensional hyperchaotic and chaotic complex systems with complex parameters,
where the drive and response systems can be asymptotically synchronized
up to a desired complex transformation matrix, not a diagonal matrix. Furthermore,
CMHPS between the novel hyperchaotic Dadras complex system
and other two different dimensional complex chaotic systems is provided as
an example to discuss increased order synchronization and reduced order
synchronization, respectively. Numerical results verify the feasibility and effectiveness
of the presented schemes
Quantum correlations and synchronization measures
The phenomenon of spontaneous synchronization is universal and only recently
advances have been made in the quantum domain. Being synchronization a kind of
temporal correlation among systems, it is interesting to understand its
connection with other measures of quantum correlations. We review here what is
known in the field, putting emphasis on measures and indicators of
synchronization which have been proposed in the literature, and comparing their
validity for different dynamical systems, highlighting when they give similar
insights and when they seem to fail.Comment: book chapter, 18 pages, 7 figures, Fanchini F., Soares Pinto D.,

Dynamics, control, stability, diffusion and synchronization of modified chaotic colpitts oscillator with triangular wave non-linearity
The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new chaotic oscillator. Although different chaotic systems have been formulated by earlier researchers, only a few chaotic systems exhibit chaotic behaviour. In this work, a new chaotic system with chaotic attractor is introduced for triangular wave non-linearity. It is worth noting that this striking phenomenon rarely occurs in respect of chaotic systems. The system proposed in this paper has been realized with numerical simulation. The results emanating from the numerical simulation indicate the feasibility of the proposed chaotic system. More over, chaos control, stability, diffusion and synchronization of such a system have been dealt with.Publisher's Versio
Dynamical Systems
Complex systems are pervasive in many areas of science integrated in our daily lives. Examples include financial markets, highway transportation networks, telecommunication networks, world and country economies, social networks, immunological systems, living organisms, computational systems and electrical and mechanical structures. Complex systems are often composed of a large number of interconnected and interacting entities, exhibiting much richer global scale dynamics than the properties and behavior of individual entities. Complex systems are studied in many areas of natural sciences, social sciences, engineering and mathematical sciences. This special issue therefore intends to contribute towards the dissemination of the multifaceted concepts in accepted use by the scientific community. We hope readers enjoy this pertinent selection of papers which represents relevant examples of the state of the art in present day research. [...
Design and Implementation of Secure Chaotic Communication Systems
Chaotic systems have properties such as ergodicity, sensitivity to initial conditions/parameter mismatches, mixing property, deterministic dynamics, structure complexity, to mention a few, that map nicely with cryptographic requirements such as confusion, diffusion, deterministic pseudorandomness, algorithm complexity. Furthermore, the possibility of chaotic synchronization, where the master system (transmitter) is driving the slave system (receiver) by its output signal, made it probable for the possible utilization of chaotic systems to implement security in the communication systems. Many methods like chaotic masking, chaotic modulation, inclusion, chaotic shift keying (CSK) had been proposed however, many attack methods later showed them to be insecure. Different modifications of these methods also exist in the literature to improve the security, but almost all suffer from the same drawback. Therefore, the implementation of chaotic systems in security still remains a challenge. In this work, different possibilities on how it might be possible to improve the security of the existing methods are explored. The main problem with the existing methods is that the message imprint could be found in the dynamics of the transmitted signal, therefore by some signal processing or pattern classification techniques, etc, allow the exposition of the hidden message. Therefore, the challenge is to remove any pattern or change in dynamics that the message might bring in the transmitted signal
Time-Delay Systems
Time delay is very often encountered in various technical systems, such as electric, pneumatic and hydraulic networks, chemical processes, long transmission lines, robotics, etc. The existence of pure time lag, regardless if it is present in the control or/and the state, may cause undesirable system transient response, or even instability. Consequently, the problem of controllability, observability, robustness, optimization, adaptive control, pole placement and particularly stability and robustness stabilization for this class of systems, has been one of the main interests for many scientists and researchers during the last five decades
Symmetry in Chaotic Systems and Circuits
Symmetry can play an important role in the field of nonlinear systems and especially in the design of nonlinear circuits that produce chaos. Therefore, this Special Issue, titled “Symmetry in Chaotic Systems and Circuits”, presents the latest scientific advances in nonlinear chaotic systems and circuits that introduce various kinds of symmetries. Applications of chaotic systems and circuits with symmetries, or with a deliberate lack of symmetry, are also presented in this Special Issue. The volume contains 14 published papers from authors around the world. This reflects the high impact of this Special Issue
