Higher CMM levels attained by QA certified software developers

[Abstract]: This paper addresses the question: is higher capability maturity associated with adoption of Quality Assurance (QA) certification? To assess the extent of adoption of third-party QA certification by Australian software developers, a survey of 1,000 software developers was recently conducted. The questionnaire also included an assessment of their capability maturity based on the capability maturity model (CMM). Cynics who criticise the value of QA certification may be surprised by the strong association found between adoption of QA certification and capability maturity

Building an IT service catalog in a small company as the main input for the IT financial management

IT departments in non-IT small companies lack guidelines for defining the services they provide and for assigning costs to these services. This article compares international models and standards and describes an approach that can be used by these companies in order to define and implement their service catalog to be used as an input for their IT financial management. The proposed solution is based on the concept of a process asset library. The proposal has been tested in a non-IT small company. The results provide useful insights for companies interested in defining their own service catalog from a standard service catalog

Un Estudio Crítico Comparativo de ISO 9001, CMMI e ISO 15504

Desde los albores de la disciplina de la ingeniería del software, queda patente la dificultad para que los artefactos generados alcancen un nivel de calidad óptimo dentro de unos límites de tiempo y coste. Dada la naturaleza lógica del producto, se asume que la calidad de un sistema software depende sobremanera de la calidad del proceso usado para desarrollarlo. Los modelos de evaluación y mejora de procesos y su estandarización, han tomado un papel determinante en la identificación, integración, medición y optimización de las buenas prácticas existentes en la organización y desarrollo software. El presente trabajo pretende repasar aquellos modelos de mayor difusión (ISO 9001, CMMI y SPICE), centrándose en su evolución y estructura, aspectos clave, aplicando comparativas y comentando el estado actual de cada estándar. A case study of software process assessment and certification (SPAC) model implementation

This paper reports the implementation of Software Process Assessment and Certification (SPAC) model.In year 2006, the model has been validated in three software organizations for its practicality in the real world. Recently in year 2011, the SPAC model has been implemented again in one of the organizations participated in year 2006.This paper discusses the outcome from the current study and compares it with the previous study. It reveals that after five years, the level of certification decreases from LEVEL IV to LEVEL II.This is because the best practices of software development are being neglected. Thus, we conclude that continuous software certification is certainly needed in order to know the current status of soft ware development process and help the organization to plan and monitor their continuous improvement of software quality

Model Sistem Penjaminan Mutu Berbasis Integrasi Standar Akreditasi BAN-PT dan ISO 9001:2008

Sistem Penjaminan Mutu untuk Perguruan Tinggi mutlak diperlukan untuk menjamin kualitas pendidikan, khususnya program studi. ISO 9001: 2008 adalah standar untuk sistem manajemen mutu dan Akreditasi BAN-PT merupakan standar untuk peningkatan proses akademik yang berkualitas untuk perguruan tinggi. Permasalahan akan timbul bila kedua set dokumen tersebut akan diintegrasikan ke dalam suatu model sistem penjaminan mutu. Hal ini disebabkan adanya perbedaan bahasa, struktur, dan rincian kedua set dokumen tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengembangkan model sistem penjaminan mutu dengan melakukan integrasi akreditasi BAN-PT dan ISO 9001: 2008. Metode Yang digunakan dalam mengintegrasikan dua dokumen dalam penelitian ini adalah metode komparatif, metode pemetaan dan model harmonisasi. Hasil yang diharapkan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan efisiensi penggunaan kembali klausul dan persyaratan ISO dalam penerapan akreditasi BAN-PT dan efektifitas suatu penerapan akreditasi BAN-PT dalam proses adopsi ISO. Model ini akan menjadi alat yang sangat berguna untuk perguruan tinggi bersertifikat ISO yang berencana menerapkan Akreditasi BAN-PT

A framework and tool to manage Cloud Computing service quality

Cloud Computing has generated considerable interest in both companies specialized in Information and Communication Technology and business context in general. The Sourcing Capability Maturity Model for service (e-SCM) is a capability model for offshore outsourcing services between clients and providers that offers appropriate strategies to enhance Cloud Computing implementation. It intends to achieve the required quality of service and develop an effective working relationship between clients and providers. Moreover, quality evaluation framework is a framework to control the quality of any product and/or process. It offers a tool support that can generate software artifacts to manage any type of product and service efficiently and effectively.
