On the validity of memristor modeling in the neural network literature

An analysis of the literature shows that there are two types of non-memristive models that have been widely used in the modeling of so-called "memristive" neural networks. Here, we demonstrate that such models have nothing in common with the concept of memristive elements: they describe either non-linear resistors or certain bi-state systems, which all are devices without memory. Therefore, the results presented in a significant number of publications are at least questionable, if not completely irrelevant to the actual field of memristive neural networks

Novel Lagrange sense exponential stability criteria for time-delayed stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks with Markovian jump parameters: A graph-theoretic approach

    Get PDF
This paper concerns the issues of exponential stability in Lagrange sense for a class of stochastic Cohen–Grossberg neural networks (SCGNNs) with Markovian jump and mixed time delay effects. A systematic approach of constructing a global Lyapunov function for SCGNNs with mixed time delays and Markovian jumping is provided by applying the association of Lyapunov method and graph theory results. Moreover, by using some inequality techniques in Lyapunov-type and coefficient-type theorems we attain two kinds of sufficient conditions to ensure the global exponential stability (GES) through Lagrange sense for the addressed SCGNNs. Ultimately, some examples with numerical simulations are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the acquired result

Adaptive Exponential Synchronization for Stochastic Competitive Neural Networks with Time-Varying Leakage Delays and Reaction-Diffusion Terms

    Get PDF
We study the exponential synchronization problem for a class of stochastic competitive neural networks with different timescales, as well as spatial diffusion, time-varying leakage delays, and discrete and distributed time-varying delays. By introducing several important inequalities and using Lyapunov functional technique, an adaptive feedback controller is designed to realize the exponential synchronization for the proposed competitive neural networks in terms of p-norm. According to the theoretical results obtained in this paper, the influences of the timescale, external stimulus constants, disposable scaling constants, and controller parameters on synchronization are analyzed. Numerical simulations are presented to show the feasibility of the theoretical results

Open Mathematics is a challenging notion for theoretical modeling, technical analysis, and numerical simulation in physics and mathematics, as well as in many other fields, as highly correlated nonlinear phenomena, evolving over a large range of time scales and length scales, control the underlying systems and processes in their spatiotemporal evolution. Indeed, available data, be they physical, biological, or financial, and technologically complex systems and stochastic systems, such as mechanical or electronic devices, can be managed from the same conceptual approach, both analytically and through computer simulation, using effective nonlinear dynamics methods. The aim of this Special Issue is to highlight papers that show the dynamics, control, optimization and applications of nonlinear systems. This has recently become an increasingly popular subject, with impressive growth concerning applications in engineering, economics, biology, and medicine, and can be considered a veritable contribution to the literature. Original papers relating to the objective presented above are especially welcome subjects. Potential topics include, but are not limited to: Stability analysis of discrete and continuous dynamical systems; Nonlinear dynamics in biological complex systems; Stability and stabilization of stochastic systems; Mathematical models in statistics and probability; Synchronization of oscillators and chaotic systems; Optimization methods of complex systems; Reliability modeling and system optimization; Computation and control over networked systems

Finite-time stabilization for fractional-order inertial neural networks with time varying delays

    Get PDF
This paper deals with the finite-time stabilization of fractional-order inertial neural network with varying time-delays (FOINNs). Firstly, by correctly selected variable substitution, the system is transformed into a first-order fractional differential equation. Secondly, by building Lyapunov functionalities and using analytical techniques, as well as new control algorithms (which include the delay-dependent and delay-free controller), novel and effective criteria are established to attain the finite-time stabilization of the addressed system. Finally, two examples are used to illustrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the obtained results

Global exponential stability conditions for quaternion-valued neural networks with leakage, transmission and distribution delays

    Get PDF
This paper studies the global exponential stability problem of quaternion-valued neural networks (QVNNs) with leakage, transmission, and distribution delays. To address this issue, a direct method based on system solutions is proposed to ensure the global exponential stability of the considered network models. In addition, this method does not need to construct any Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, which greatly reduces the amount of computation. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed results

Combined Convex Technique on Delay-Distribution-Dependent Stability for Delayed Neural Networks

    Get PDF
Together with the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach and an improved delay-partitioning idea, one novel sufficient condition is derived to guarantee a class of delayed neural networks to be asymptotically stable in the mean-square sense, in which the probabilistic variable delay and both of delay variation limits can be measured. Through combining the reciprocal convex technique and convex technique one, the criterion is presented via LMIs and its solvability heavily depends on the sizes of both time-delay range and its variations, which can become much less conservative than those present ones by thinning the delay intervals. Finally, it can be demonstrated by four numerical examples that our idea reduces the conservatism more effectively than some earlier reported ones

Mean-Square Exponential Stability Analysis of Stochastic Neural Networks with Time-Varying Delays via Fixed Point Method

    Get PDF
This work addresses the stability study for stochastic cellular neural networks with time-varying delays. By utilizing the new research technique of the fixed point theory, we find some new and concise sufficient conditions ensuring the existence and uniqueness as well as mean-square global exponential stability of the solution. The presented algebraic stability criteria are easily checked and do not require the differentiability of delays. The paper is finally ended with an example to show the effectiveness of the obtained results
