Enterprise resource planning adoption and satisfaction determinants
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems are at the core of every firm. Making people use this costly and time-consuming investment is one of the most important issues to deal with. The main objective of the present study is to find the key determinants that open the door to user satisfaction and adoption. A theoretical model was set and an online survey was conducted to understand ERP users' perspective on such matters.The outcome was the model validation an dthe understanding that top management support, training, and the system quality are important constructs to assess adoption user satisfaction. Infact,thelatter (systemquality) has a significant influence on the behaviour a lintention to use and also in the overall user satisfaction. As management support is a very relevant determinant to ERP usage. Accordingly, this study enlightens theory, by contributing to a new model of ERP adoption and satisfaction. É o principal objetivo da presente dissertação identificar os principais determinantes que
levam à satisfação e adoção por parte dos utilizadores. Para este efeito foi elaborado um
modelo teórico e levado a cabo um questionário online junto dos utilizadores de sistemas
ERP.
O resultado foi a validação do modelo e a confirmação de que o suporte da gestão de topo,
a formação e a qualidade do sistema são construtos decisivos para avaliar a adoção e satisfação por parte dos utilizadores. De fato, a qualidade do sistema tem uma influência muito forte na intenção comportamental de utilizar o sistema e também na satisfação global do utilizador
A framework for the successful implementation of food traceability systems in China
Implementation of food traceability systems in China faces many challenges due to the scale, diversity and complexity of China’s food supply chains. This study aims to identify critical success factors specific to the implementation of traceability systems in China. Twenty-seven critical success factors were identified in the literature. Interviews with managers at four food enterprises in a pre-study helped identify success criteria
and five additional critical success factors. These critical success factors were tested through a survey of managers in eighty-three food companies. This study identifies six dimensions for critical success factors: laws, regulations and standards; government support; consumer knowledge and support; effective management and communication; top management and vendor support; and information and system quality
Doing good to do well? Corporate social responsibility reasons, practices and impacts in small and medium accommodation enterprises
Corporate social responsibility practices have been mostly analyzed in the large manufacturing business context, with little attention paid to the service sector and even less to small and medium-sized accommodation enterprises. This study aims to fill this gap through analyzing how these enterprises take responsibility. A survey of nearly 400 enterprises showed that the main reason for acting responsibly is altruistic, although competitiveness reasons are also important. Aspects of the " resource-based view" of the firm are validated through the positive impact of environmental cost-savings in financial performance, but also because other practices (not always related with economic reasons) are influencing their competitiveness. The article concludes that further implementation of these practices is necessary to achieve the full potential of competitive advantages. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd
Enterprise Systems Adoption and Firm Performance in Europe: The Role of Innovation
Despite the ubiquitous proliferation and importance of Enterprise Systems (ES), little research exists on their post-implementation impact on firm performance, especially in Europe. This paper provides representative, large-sample evidence on the differential effects of different ES types on performance of European enterprises. It also highlights the mediating role of innovation in the process of value creation from ES investments. Empirical data on the adoption of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Supply Chain Management (SCM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Knowledge Management System (KMS), and Document Management System (DMS) is used to investigate the effects on product and process innovation, revenue, productivity and market share growth, and profitability. The data covers 29 sectors in 29 countries over a 5-year period. The results show that all ES categories significantly increase the likelihood of product and process innovation. Most of ES categories affect revenue, productivity and market share growth positively. Particularly, more domainspecific and simpler system types lead to stronger positive effects. ERP systems decrease the profitability likelihood of the firm, whereas other ES categories do not show any significant effect. The findings also imply that innovation acts as a full or partial mediator in the process of value creation of ES implementations. The direct effect of enterprise software on firm performance disappears or significantly diminishes when the indirect effects through product and process innovation are explicitly accounted for. Relationship between accounting benefits and ERP user satisfaction in the context of the fourth industrial revolution
The importance of corporate social responsibility is shaping investment decisions and entrepreneurial actions in diverse perspectives. The rapid growth of SMEs has tremendous impacts on the environment. Nonetheless, the economic emergence plan of Cameroon has prompted government support of SMEs through diverse projects. This saw economic growth increased to 3.8% and unemployment dropped to 4.3% caused by the expansion of private sector investments. The dilemma that necessitated this study is the response strategy of SMEs operators towards environmental sustainability. This study, thus seeks to examine the effects of entrepreneurial intentions and actions on environmental sustainability. The research is a conclusive case study design supported by the philosophical underpins of objectivism ontology and positivism epistemology. Data was sourced from four hundred (400) SMEs operators purposively sampled from the Centre and Littoral regions of Cameroon using structured questionnaire. Data was analysed using the Structural Equation Modelling technique with the aid of statistical packages including: SPSS 24 and AMOS 23. The study revealed that entrepreneurial action has weak positive statistical significant impacts on environmental sustainability; whereas entrepreneurial intention has strong positive statistical significant effects on environmental sustainability. Entrepreneurial intention comprised of self-efficacy and perceived control whereas, entrepreneurial actions involved entrepreneurial alertness and uncertainty. This study concludes that entrepreneurs in Cameroon have sustainable intentions to protect the environment but; the current actions taken are inadequate. Antecedents for the Success of the Adoption of Organizational ERP Among Higher Education Institutions and Competitive Advantage in Egypt
Although the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
system has long been acknowledged in higher education
institutions (HEIs) to improve their performance and efficiency,
there are not many HEIs in Egypt that adopt ERP system and
those that do are in an early stage. The research on ERP system
in HEI is still limited and in the immature stage, hence little is
known about the success factors for the adoption stage of ERP
systems. Consequently, this article aims to understand what are
the success factors for ERP adoption and further develop a
conceptual model that explains the successful implementation of
ERP in HEIs and its impact on competitive advantage. Based on
previous studies, this paper identifies and conceptualizes success
factors for ERP and further develops the proposed model for the
adoption of ERP system in HEIs. This article contributes to the
development of the theoretical framework of the successful
implementation of the ERP system to explain the competitive
advantage of HEI by merging information system (IS) success
and diffusion of innovation (DOI) theories with the success
factors for the adoption stage of ERP systems. The current study
will provide recommendations and guidelines for both the
potential adopters and the vendors on the successful ERP system
adoption
SMEs: ERP or virtual collaboration teams
Small firms are indeed the engines of global economic growth. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play an important role to promote economic development. SMEs in the beginning of implementing new technologies always face capital shortage and need technological assistance. Available ERP systems do not fulfil the specific requirements of Small firms. SMEs has scarce resources and manpower therefore many SMEs don?t have the possessions to buy and operate an ERP System. On the other hand competition and competitiveness of SMEs have to be strengthened. This paper briefly reviews the existing perspectives on virtual teams and their effect on SMEs management. It also discusses the main characteristics of virtual teams and clarifies the differences aspects of virtual team application in SMEs. After outlining some of the main advantages and pitfall of such teams, it concentrates on comparing of ERP and virtual collaborative teams in SMEs. Finally, it provides evidence for the need of ?Software as a Service (SaaS)? where an application is hosted as a service provided to customers across the web for SMEs as an alternative of ERP.
