    ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks: a literature review

    Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation is a complex and vibrant process, one that involves a combination of technological and organizational interactions. Often an ERP implementation project is the single largest IT project that an organization has ever launched and requires a mutual fit of system and organization. Also the concept of an ERP implementation supporting business processes across many different departments is not a generic, rigid and uniform concept and depends on variety of factors. As a result, the issues addressing the ERP implementation process have been one of the major concerns in industry. Therefore ERP implementation receives attention from practitioners and scholars and both, business as well as academic literature is abundant and not always very conclusive or coherent. However, research on ERP systems so far has been mainly focused on diffusion, use and impact issues. Less attention has been given to the methods used during the configuration and the implementation of ERP systems, even though they are commonly used in practice, they still remain largely unexplored and undocumented in Information Systems research. So, the academic relevance of this research is the contribution to the existing body of scientific knowledge. An annotated brief literature review is done in order to evaluate the current state of the existing academic literature. The purpose is to present a systematic overview of relevant ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks as a desire for achieving a better taxonomy of ERP implementation methodologies. This paper is useful to researchers who are interested in ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks. Results will serve as an input for a classification of the existing ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks. Also, this paper aims also at the professional ERP community involved in the process of ERP implementation by promoting a better understanding of ERP implementation methodologies and frameworks, its variety and history

    Designing better performance measurement systems in universities using the business model canvas

    This paper starts by critically reviewing the way in which universities design their measures of performance. We argue that the “one size fits all” performance measurement approach adopted by so many universities is not appropriate when departments have very different operating models. The paper proposes using “business model design” to enable university departments and centres to design and develop their own “sustainability model”, which in turn may help them develop more appropriate performance measurement systems.     A Domain-Specific Modelling Language for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

    Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a strategic critical subject in many business processes, since enterprises not only need to provide good products or services, but they also have to demonstrate that they are environmentally and socially responsible. In this context, enterprises should use appropriate computer systems in order to manage CSR ensuring the adoption of best practices with the aim of obtaining competitive advantages. On the other hand, Model-Driven Engineering is a proven and accepted paradigm that provides sound mechanisms to develop quality and reliable computer systems in an efficient way starting from business models. The main results presented in this paper are a CSR Metamodel and a CSR UML profile that provide a Domain-Specific Modelling Language (DSML) to represent CSR. This DSML supports the design of CSR Computer Independent Models (CIM) that are the starting point for Model-Driven Engineering development. To propose this DSML to represent CSR we analysed international standards, guides and regulations on CSR and we reviewed CSR strategies developed by different companies in order to define the artifacts of the CSR Metamodel. Finally, a practical case study using this DSML is provided in order to improve and to validate the defined CSR Metamodel, and to show how to apply the proposal in an actual company

    An Ontology-Based Knowledge Modelling for Sustainable Entrepreneurship Domain

    Sustainable entrepreneurship (SE) focuses on entrepreneurial activities taking into account environmental and social issues, not only by paying attention to economic issues. While the concept of SE is a prominent stream for modern entrepreneurship, the following questions arise: how enterprises can run a business and implement Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and which factors can support or constrain SE? Research on SE suggests that that identifying and implementing sustainable development opportunity is more complex for the entrepreneur than the recognition of non-sustainable opportunity. Therefore this article contributes to the advancement of sustainable entrepreneurship research by offering an ontology-based approach collecting factors from the current literature review and incorporating different lines of research that can influence further sustainable entrepreneurial strategies. The applied research methodology exploits a previously elaborated bibliometric analysis which included a systematic literature review conducted using the PRISMA methodology. The condensed immense amount of bibliometric information and further co-occurrence analysis of keywords determining SE factors is a basis for constructing ontology-based model.     This paper presents Business Integration as a Service (BIaS) which enables connections between services operating in the Cloud. BIaS integrates different services and business activities to achieve a streamline process. We illustrate this integration using two services; Return on Investment (ROI) Measurement as a Service (RMaaS) and Risk Analysis as a Service (RAaaS) in two case studies at the University of Southampton and Vodafone/Apple. The University of Southampton case study demonstrates the cost-savings and the risk analysis achieved, so two services can work as a single service. The Vodafone/Apple case study illustrates statistical analysis and 3D Visualisation of expected revenue and associated risk. These two cases confirm the benefits of BIaS adoption, including cost reduction and improvements in efficiency and risk analysis. Implementation of BIaS in other organisations is also discussed. Important data arising from the integration of RMaaS and RAaaS are useful for management of University of Southampton and potential and current investors for Vodafone/Apple
