Information Management in Corporate Quality Management - Implementation in the Agrifood Industry Food safety, traceability and numerous other demands on the quality of products as well as their production and trade-processes are of paramount importance for the market success of enterprises in the agrifood sector. However, meeting those demands poses new, ever changing challenges to the companies. These arise due to specific features of food and feed, complexities in production and trade-processes, information asymmetries in trade relations, sector- characteristics and dynamic development of regulatory as well as market-borne demands on quality management. The present thesis intends to answer the question if and how current demands on quality management, traceability and food safety can be efficiently handled by utilizing appropriate information management techniques. Therefore, current developments in quality management of the agrifood industry as well as existing concepts for information support form one part of the thesisÂŽ background. The other part of the thesisÂŽ background originates in information management science, which supplies a number of models and concepts well suited for the development of innovative solutions for information management in corporate quality management. While information management is traditionally seen as a supporting function to overall business management, there are theories which emphasize that the influence between both spheres is mutual. Following this train of thought the thesis points out potentials of information management as an enabler to quality management. These are delineated in three areas: supporting information systems functions, sourcing options for corporate information management and the design and development process for information systems. The established supporting functions, sourcing options and the model of the development process are tested and evaluated in case studies with companies of the Agribusiness. Beyond the evaluation of their basic fitness for use, these case studies give an insight on the linkage between enterprise characteristics and the type of support needed in information management. The hypothesis that current demands on quality management can only be efficiently dealt with by the means of information management can be verified on the basis of these case studies. The established options for information management do not only form a means to reactively meet external demands but also enables the implementation and communication of quality management for a proactive positioning in the market.</p
Concept of the application of an integrated audit and document management system in the inter-organisational health management in meat supply chains The aim of the dissertation was to develop a concept how the inter-organisational health advice in meat chains could be supported effectively with software solutions for the areas audit and document management. The theoretical approach under process-oriented consideration was to integrate the âorganisational islandsâ in the pilot organisation in one inter-organisational quality and health management service process, by overcoming of functional, organisational and personnel limits. On this basis the four software systems audit (component 3), measures (component 4) and document management for draft documents (component 1) as well as supporting documents (component 2), could be used for the systematic and qualitative protection and improvement in the partial processes with high repetition character. The possibilities of combined use of the four software systems together with the configuration concepts for audit and document types yielded a four components model aligned with specific target groups. For use of the components in service organizations three scenarios have been suggested. Scenario I: intends to use alternatively component 1, 2, 3 or 4 in enterprises for the improvement in a certain area (e.g. in certified veterinarian practice alliances, service company in connection with laboratories, veterinarian offices) like the guarantee of the standard-compliant construction and the permanent update of a quality management manual. Scenario II: represents the use of "Nucleus Model I" (components 1 + 2, documentation) or "Nucleus Model II" (components 3 + 4, audit management) in the team of veterinarians and production technical advisers in one organization. Scenario III: the integration of the audit and document management system, designed for communities of property which have a common branch and have besides services in the context of the stock service and production technical advice, the responsibility for the documentation and putting into action of quality management measures in its member farms. Methodical approaches for the taxation of quality costs and the index of services have been introduced in order to consider the use of systems in the interplant quality and health management. Using the index of services as a concentrated ranking it allows the quantification and the comparison of consulting services in miscellaneous combinations. By means of the traditional quality-cost-model a monetary benchmark of expenditure of time for soft- and hardware supported processes in consulting services was facilitated
IS standards in designing business-to-government collaborations.
IS STANDARDS IN DESIGNING BUSINESS-TO-GOVERNMENT COLLABORATIONS. Elaborating the impact of standards on inter-organizational collaborations, inter-organizational studies demonstrated a standardâs positive impact on the collaboration between governmental and business partners. How and under which conditions information systems (IS) standards contribute to the effectiveness of business-to-government (B2G) collaborations in customs management is the topic of this thesis. Chapter 2 provides the theoretical and methodological background of the thesis. It illustrates how standards research emerged under institutional conditions such as actor types, linkages and social structures. With the case study in Chapter 3, the thesis introduces a reference framework that gathers different aspects in three pre-selected international business-to-government collaborations. Describing the cases that are subject to the export from EU to non-EU countries a diagnosis of B2G collaborations and relevant elements for the design of the artifact is conducted. A diagnosis of related work in the field of B2G collaborations is provided in Chapter 4. The assessment of collaboration forms revealed necessary constructs of a procedure model and institutional steps necessary to form B2G collaboration as such. Chapter 5 distils related work of IS standards research. In Chapters 6 and 7 considerations from the previous chapters lead to the core part of the thesis, the design and build of a procedure model to institutionalize B2G collaborations, the B2G Procedure Model (B2GPM). The results from the first round of design, the building blocks for B2G collaborations, are subject to Chapter 6. They conclude in a set of design principles of the B2GPM that are being introduced in the chapter. Chapter 7 covers the second round of design by refining the elements of B2G collaboration and the design principles. It continues with the design of the B2GPM. The composition, description, and documentation of the procedure model are the core part of this chapter. Chapter 8 is dedicated to the question of required organizational adoption to deploy the B2GPM. The model is seen as a procedural innovation by which B2G collaboration in customs management can be further improved. The applicability of the B2GPM is based on a series of evaluation cycles and results in the provision of influencing factors of organizational adoption.

The globalization and liberalization of markets have led to complex international supply networks. Additionally, developments like the principles of lean production have gained in importance in the last years. As a consequence, supply networks operate with minimal safety buffers with regards to time and inventory, which makes them increasingly vulnerable. The majority of goods in these networks is being transported in containers. These transports face exposed risks when compared to national haulages, which can be explained partially through longer transport distances and duration as well as increased transshipment and interim storage processes.
At the same time, container transportation is still characterized by a lack of transparency, which causes inefficiencies and drives risks. From a scientific as well as an application viewpoint, this dissertation aims to contribute to the potential design of transparent, efficient, secure container transports and entire supply networks by integrating logistical IT systems and connecting them to a central platform

The COVID-19 Pandemic and the Future of Working Spaces
This edited volume presents a compendium of emerging and innovative studies
on the proliferation of new working spaces (NeWSps), both formal and informal
(such as coworking spaces, maker spaces, fab labs, public libraries, and cofee
shops), and their role during and following the COVID-19 pandemic in urban
and regional development and planning.
This book presents an original, interdisciplinary approach to NeWSps
through three features: (i) situating the debate in the context of the COVID-19
pandemic, which has transformed NeWSp business models and the everyday
work life of their owners and users; (ii) repositioning and rethinking the debate
on NeWSps in the context of socioeconomics and planning and comparing
conditions between before and during the COVID-19 pandemic; and (iii)
providing new directions for urban and regional development and resilience to
the COVID-19 pandemic, considering new ways of working and living.
The 17 chapters are co-authored by both leading international scholars who
have studied the proliferation of NeWSps in the last decade and young, talented
researchers, resulting in a total of 55 co-authors from diferent disciplines (48 of
whom are currently involved in the COST Action CA18214 âThe Geography
of New Working Spaces and Impact on the Peripheryâ 2019â2023: www.newworking-
spaces.eu).
Selected comparative studies among several European countries (Western
and Eastern Europe) and from the US and Lebanon are presented. The book
contributes to the understanding of multi-disciplinary theoretical and practical
implications of NeWSps for our society, economy, and urban/regional planning
in conditions following the COVID-19 pandemic
