Distributed synchronous diagnosis of discrete-event systems
Recently, the centralized and decentralized synchronous diagnosis of discreteevent systems have been proposed in the literature. In this work, we propose a di erent synchronous diagnosis strategy called distributed synchronous diagnosis. In this scheme, local diagnosers are computed based on the observation of the fault-free behavior models of the system components. It is considered that these local diagnosers are separated into networks, and are capable of communicating the occurrence of events and their current state estimate to other local diagnosers that belong to the same network. The diagnosers are implemented considering an speci c communication protocol that re nes the state estimate of the faultfree behavior of the system modules, reducing, therefore, the augmented fault-free language considered for synchronous diagnosis. In order to do so, boolean conditions are added to the transitions of the fault-free component models, which check if the occurrence of an observable event is possible according to the current state estimate of other local diagnosers. This leads to the notion of distributed synchronous diagnosability. An algorithm to verify the distributed synchronous diagnosability with polynomial complexity in the state-space of the system component models is proposed.
Model-based Decentralized Embedded Diagnosis inside Vehicles: Application to Smart Distance Keeping Function
International audienceAbstract—In this paper, the deployment of a fault diagnosis strategy in the Smart Distance Keeping (SDK) system with a decentralized architecture is presented. The SDK system is an advanced version of the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system, implemented in a Renault-Volvo Trucks vehicle. The main goal of this work is to analyze measurements, issued from the SDK elements, in order to detect, to localize and to identify some faults that may be produced. Our main contribution is the proposition of a decentralized approach permitting to carry out an on-line diagnosis without computing the global model and to deploy it on several control units. This paper explains the model-based decentralized solution and its application to the embedded diagnosis of the SDK system inside truck with five control units connected via a CAN-bus using ”Hardware In the Loop” (HIL) technique. We also discuss the constraints that must be fulfilled
Unconditional decentralized structure for the fault diagnosis of discrete event systems
International audienceThis paper proposes an unconditional decentralized structure to realize the fault diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES), specially manufacturing systems with discrete sensors and actuators. This structure is composed on the use of a set of local diagnosers, each one of them is responsible of a specific part of the plant. These local diagnosers are based on a modular modelling of the plant in order to reduce the state explosion. Each local diagnoser uses event-based, state based and timed models to take a decision about fault's occurrences. These models are obtained using the information provided by the plant, the controller and the actuators reactivity. All local diagnosis decisions are then merged by a Boolean operator in order to obtain one global diagnosis decision. Finally, the diagnosers are polynomial-time in the cardinality of the state space of the system. This approach is illustrated using an example of manufacturing system
Diagnosability of Fuzzy Discrete Event Systems
In order to more effectively cope with the real-world problems of vagueness,
{\it fuzzy discrete event systems} (FDESs) were proposed recently, and the
supervisory control theory of FDESs was developed. In view of the importance of
failure diagnosis, in this paper, we present an approach of the failure
diagnosis in the framework of FDESs. More specifically: (1) We formalize the
definition of diagnosability for FDESs, in which the observable set and failure
set of events are {\it fuzzy}, that is, each event has certain degree to be
observable and unobservable, and, also, each event may possess different
possibility of failure occurring. (2) Through the construction of
observability-based diagnosers of FDESs, we investigate its some basic
properties. In particular, we present a necessary and sufficient condition for
diagnosability of FDESs. (3) Some examples serving to illuminate the
applications of the diagnosability of FDESs are described. To conclude, some
related issues are raised for further consideration.Comment: 14 pages; revisions have been mad
On Fault Diagnosis of random Free-choice Petri Nets
This paper presents an on-line diagnosis algorithm for Petri nets where a priori probabilistic knowledge about the plant operation is available. We follow the method developed by Benveniste, Fabre, and Haar to assign probabilities to configurations in a net unfolding thus avoiding the need for randomizing all concurrent interleavings of transitions. We consider different settings of the diagnosis problem, including estimating the likelihood that a fault may have happened prior to the most recent observed event, the likelihood that a fault will have happened prior to the next observed event. A novel problem formulation treated in this paper considers deterministic diagnosis of faults that occurred prior to the most recent observed event, and simultaneous calculation of the likelihood that a fault will occur prior to the next observed event
