Designing Information System To Support Business Process Improvement In A Small-Mid Size Bottled Drinking Water Industry
Due to inefficiencies of the business processes in small-mid size of bottled drinking water industries,
it is necessary to improve them. The improvements are carried out in business processes of production,
warehouse, delivery, marketing, and finance departments. The main causes of the inefficiencies are the
inefficiencies of the business process itself and that the business processes of those departments were not
integrated. This paper is concerned with designing information system to support for the integration of those
departments. First, we mapped the business process of each department using flow diagram. Then analyze the
inefficiencies of each department. Next, we redesign the business processes and standardize them. The next step
is integrating the business processes by designing the information system. We design the information system
modular. The modules are marketing module, production module, logistic module and finance module. Data
Flow Diagram (DFD) is used to model the system. Relational database management system (RDBMS) is used
to design the database. User interfaces are built to ease in using the program application. The outputs of the
information system are reports and documents in monitor screen view and in printing. The validation showed
that the information system designed can support the business process improvements.

A Service Late Binding Enabled Solution for Data Integration from Autonomous and Evolving Databases
Integrating data from autonomous, distributed and heterogeneous data sources to provide a unified vision is a common demand for many businesses. Since the data sources may evolve frequently to satisfy their own independent business needs, solutions which use hard coded queries to integrate participating databases may cause high maintenance costs when evolution occurs. Thus a new solution which can handle database evolution with lower maintenance effort is required.
This thesis presents a new solution: Service Late binding Enabled Data Integration (SLEDI) which is set into a framework modeling the essential processes of the data integration activity. It integrates schematic heterogeneous relational databases with decreased maintenance costs for handling database evolution. An algorithm, named Information Provision Unit Describing (IPUD) is designed to describe each database as a set of Information Provision Units (IPUs). The IPUs are represented as Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG) structured data instead of hard coded queries, and further realized as data services. Hence the data integration is achieved through service invocations. Furthermore, a set of processes is defined to handle the database evolution through automatically identifying and modifying the IPUs which are affected by the evolution.
An extensive evaluation based on a case study is presented. The result shows that the schematic heterogeneities defined in this thesis can be solved by IPUD except the relation isomorphism discrepancy. Ten out of thirteen types of schematic database evolution can be automatically handled by the evolution handling processes as long as the evolution is represented by the designed data model. The computational costs of the automatic evolution handling show a slow linear growth with the number of participating databases. Other characteristics addressed include SLEDIâs scalability, independence of application domain and databases model. The descriptive comparison with other data integration approaches shows that although the Data as a Service approach may result in lower performance under some circumstances, it supports better flexibility for integrating data from autonomous and evolving data sources
Integrazione di database spaziali multiscala in ambito urbano
An information data infrastructure is one of the key to assure efficiency and sustainability for urban processes management. In this field spatial data management plays a central role with a focus on thematic and geometric integration, multi-scale modelling and flexibility to specific needs. These goals can be achieved through the provision of specific standards and tools for data modelling and information retrieving. The widening of the application fields of GIS to the architectural representations of the cultural heritage documentation and consequently the 3D data management support are two of the major issues for filling the gap between the CAD and GIS and their cultural and productive background. Her will be presented some preliminary issues of a test on spatal data integration in a XML based data structure following the OGC's CityGML specifications. The model implementation will focus on the multiscale and multiview modelling tools of standard as a first stepo for the management of a 3D spatial database through XML based application tool
Collection and integration of local knowledge and experience through a collective spatial analysis
This article discusses the convenience of adopting an approach of Collective Spatial Analysis in the P/PGIS processes, with the aim of improving the collection and integration of knowledge and local expertise in decision-making, mainly in the fields of planning and adopting territorial policies. Based on empirical evidence, as a result of the review of scientific articles from the Web of Science database, in which it is displayed how the knowledge and experience of people involved in decision-making supported by P/PGIS are collected and used, a prototype of a WEB-GSDSS application has been developed. This prototype allows a group of people to participate anonymously, in an asynchronous and distributed way, in a decision-making process to locate goods, services, or events through the convergence of their views. Via this application, two case studies for planning services in districts of Ecuador and Italy were carried out. Early results suggest that in P/PGIS local and external actors contribute their knowledge and experience to generate information that afterwards is integrated and analysed in the decision-making process. On the other hand, in a Collective Spatial Analysis, these actors analyse and generate information in conjunction with their knowledge and experience during the process of decision-making. We conclude that, although the Collective Spatial Analysis approach presented is in a subjective and initial stage, it does drive improvements in the collection and integration of knowledge and local experience, foremost among them is an interdisciplinary geo-consensusPeer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Critical review of BIM-based LCA method to buildings
Current environmental problems arising from the building sector require tools to help reduce resource
consumption and environmental impact. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a widely used tool to quantify the
environmental impacts of the building sector. The literature recognizes the need to simplify the method
application, especially to reduce and optimize data acquisition. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is
defined as a virtual 3D building model which integrates with a database of their building elements. Several
studies recognize that the integration of BIM and LCA can simplify data acquisition of the building as well
as provide both tools with feedback. This paper reviews recent studies centered on BIM-based LCA, and
also carries out a methodological analysis of their integration, focusing on the way that BIM can contribute
to simplifying data input, and optimize output data and results during the LCA application in buildings.
The results show the viability to develop methods based on BIM models for organizing building
information used to estimate environmental and energy consumption impacts based on LCA, including:
templates and plug-ins for BIM software, and the integration of automated processes combining different
data and software. Reviewed papers are simplified LCA applications, mostly focused on CO2 emission
calculation during the early stages of design. Finally, methodological challenges and recommendations for
BIM and LCA tools are propose
Simulating Collaborative Mobile Services â An Approach to Evaluate a New Location Enabling Service
Although enthusiasm for the âkiller-applicationâ in the mobile sector has decreased, location based services still seem to be valuable mobile services. Todayâs location based services are mostly forced to use the proprietary location information provided by mobile network operators. The approach that is discussed here depicts a way of locating a mobile client independently from certain network operators and in heterogeneous networks. The Location Trader system collects and provides location information for users and providers of location based services. The accumulated interaction of each user of the user community enables to generate reliable location information in the Location Trader database. This paper prepares the groundwork for modeling the core principles of unintended value co-production with the Location Trader System. We intend to focus our analysis on the Location Trader System resp. Services, as the phenomenon of value co-production is widespread because of low coordination costs for integration and transactions enabled by immateriality and potential automation of business and transaction processes. The focus of this paper is the simulation of the user integration based on the theoretical basis
DEVELOPMENT OF AN INTEGRATED ACCOUNTING SYSTEM BY RESOURCE-EVENT-AGENT APPROACH (A CASE STUDY AT KOPERASI PEGAWAI DANA PENSIUN TELKOM)
Koperasi Pegawai Dana Pensiun Telkom is a cooperative organization that is established by PT. Dana Pensiun Telkom. As a common business entity, financial report is required to give information to the shareholders or decision maker about organizationâs financial state. Decision maker in this case is the board of directors. Based on this financial report, board of directors may decide the organizationâs strategies.
Financial report which has an important role in decision making process has a problem on its publishing time. This delayed financial reportâs publishing time makes decision making process become hampered. This problem is caused by three factors, such as disintegrated data and application, and transaction journalizing process which is still using manual method.
Resource-Event-Agent approachâs role on this research is to facilitate the modelling data process so that the data and application integration become more effective. The modelled data using Resource-Event-Agent can fulfil organization business process requirements especially for automating the transaction journalizing process.
By using Resource-Event-Agent, the system that can be a solution is Integrated Accounting System. This system will integrate data, application, and automating the transaction journalizing process. On the future, Resource-Event-Agent can be used to model every data on every business activities on the organizatio
Planning and Design Soa Architecture Blueprint
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a framework for integrating business processes and supporting IT infrastructure as secure, standardized components-services-that can be reused and combined to address changing business priorities. Services are the building blocks of SOA and new applications can be constructed through consuming these services and orchestrating services within a business process. In SOA, services map to the business functions that are identified during business process analysis. Upon a successful implementation of SOA, the enterprise gain benefit by reducing development time, utilizing flexible and responsive application structure, and following dynamic connectivity of application logics between business partners. This paper presents SOA reference architecture blueprint as the building blocks of SOA which is services, service components and flows that together support enterprise business processes and the business goals
The influencing mechanism of manufacturing scene change on process domain knowledge reuse
It is necessary for a enterprise to reuse outside process domain knowledge to develop intelligent manufacturing technology. The key factors influencing knowledge reuse in digital manufacturing scene are manufacturing activities and PPR (Products, Processes and Resources) related to knowledge modeling, enterprise and integrated systems related to knowledge utilizing. How these factors influence knowledge modeling and utilizing is analyzed. Process domain knowledge reuse across the enterprises consists of knowledge reconfiguration and integrated application with CAx systems. The module-based knowledge model and loosely-coupled integration application of process domain knowledge are proposed. The aircraft sheet metal process domain knowledge reuse is taken as an example, and it shows that the knowledge reuse process can be made flexible and rapid
