Factors Affecting Malaysian Accountants\u27 Broadband Adoption and Use Behavior

    Get PDF
The aim of this study was to examine the factors affecting the adoption of broadband Internet in a developing country context by focusing upon Malaysia. The data relating to these factors was collected using a survey approach. The findings of this paper suggest that constructs such as relative advantage, utilitarian outcomes, service quality and primary influence are important factors affecting Malaysian accountants’ broadband adoption and Internet use behaviour. The paper proceeds to outline the research limitations and implications

Effect of Technological Evolution on Usage Pattern: A Study on Mobile Internet Subscribers in Bangladesh

As in most countries of the world, mobile internet has been playing a key role in the growth of internet subscriber-base in Bangladesh. While the country is at the verge of introducing advanced wireless internet connectivity via 4G technologies, this longitudinal study attempts to explore the effect (if any) of such technological evolution on subscribers’ internet usage pattern. Data has been collected in two phases- first, just before the onset of 3G services (when 2G was fully dominant) and second, at the period when 4G launching was imminent (i.e., 3G is fully dominant), from the secondary sources of a leading internet service provider (as well as the top mobile operator) of the country and using a consumer survey of that mobile operator in both phases. A comparative analysis of the collected data shows that evolution of technology (2G to 3G) has impact on certain consumption criteria while few of the patterns remain same even after the advancement. We identified few key issues (e.g., preference of devices, activities and website inclination, internet usage time, preferred area of service improvement etc.) that the mobile operators in Bangladesh should consider and show how those have practical and managerial implications for the maximum utilization of the future technological evolution (i.e., 4G deployment). Keywords: mobile internet, usage pattern, subscribers, Banglades

    E-GOVERNMENT ADOPTION RESEARCH: A META-ANALYSIS OF FINDINGS

The purpose of this paper is to undertake a meta-analysis of findings reported in existing research on adoption and diffusion of e-government. Usable data relating to e-government adoption research were collected from 112 papers out of 779 research articles identified from the ISI Web of Knowledge database and journals dedicated to electronic government research. The findings indicate that there are some variables such as: perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, intention to use, attitude, satisfaction, actual use, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control, which are common and drive the research from citizens as well as from employees’ perspective. The meta-analysis of the existing e-government adoption studies found that the majority of the construct relationships demonstrated the significant range of average summative correlation, and effect size, but the influence of ‘facilitating condition’, and ‘perceived risk’ on ‘intention to use’ and of ‘service quality’ on ‘satisfaction’ was found as non-significant. The broader analysis of the e-government adoption and diffusion research also reflects that although a large number of theories and theoretical constructs were borrowed from the reference disciplines, their utilization by e-government researchers appears to be largely random in approach. The paper also acknowledges the theoretical contributions, limitations and suggests further research directions

Examining Role of Usefulness, Ease of Use and Social Influence on Jordanian Citizen’s Intention to Adopt E-Government

Electronic Government (eGov) offers several benefits to citizens (particularly in the context of developing countries) in terms of convenience, anytime, anywhere access to government services, transparency, reduced corruption and reduced bureaucracy. Despite it offering such benefits, citizens of many countries are reluctant in adopting eGov systems. This study developed and tested an extended technology acceptance model (TAM) that integrates social influence with perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use in order to investigate factors determining Jordanian citizens’ intention to adopt eGov. The model was empirically tested employing data collected from a survey of Jordanian citizens. A regression analysis was conducted to evaluate the influence of three independent constructs on behavioural intention to adopt eGov. Results of this research indicated that all three independent constructs significantly affected Jordanian citizens\u27 behavioural intention to adopt eGov. The findings presented in this submission are likely to be useful for the Jordanian government in terms of developing user friendly system and encouraging citizens to promote widespread adoption. A concluding section presents key conclusions, limitations and future research directions arising from this research

Consumer Adoption of Mobile Financial Services (MFS) in Bangladesh: A Randomized Conjoint Experiment

Mobile Financial Services (MFS) has become the new frontier in many countries. Since 2013, MFS in Bangladesh has risen steeply. The study aims to examine the MFS adoption behavior through the lens of modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) utilizing Randomized Conjoint Experiment for establishing a causal relationship between the attributes and adoption behavior. This study is the first attempt to encompass the causal relationship while investigating adoption behavior. Data were collected through a structured survey questionnaire at two districts in Bangladesh, including 2400 responses from 240 respondents. It was found that distance and cost per transaction has a significant impact, while ease of use has a moderately significant influence on customer's adoption behavior. However, the findings also concluded that social influence and trust have no significant influence. To both regulators and service providers, the findings will provide insights into the customer's point of view and industry demand as well. The study also included some suggestions for future investigations

A meta-analysis based modified unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (Meta-UTAUT): A review of emerging literature

YesOver the last more than four decades, several theoretical models have been developed to understand the acceptance and use of information systems. Realising the dilemma in selecting the appropriate theoretical model to assess the acceptance and use of technology and considering the pattern of using the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), a modified version (meta-UTAUT) has been developed based on the synthesis of results from 162 existing studies. The aim of this article is to review the emerging literature on meta-UTAUT and offer some future research recommendations. The analysis suggests that studies have started citing the relationships suggested by meta-UTAUT and researchers have reviewed it alongside other alternative models while analysing acceptance and use of technology
