Power arc welder touch-started with consumable electrode
Power arc welder formed as a hand-held welding gun touch-starts, retracts a consumable electrode to create the desired arc, and then commences feeding of the consumable electrode at the rate required to form the intended bead or spot. This device achieves uniform spot welds repeatedly
High-strength tungsten alloy with improved ductility
Alloy combines superior strength at elevated temperatures with improved ductility at lower temperatures relative to unalloyed tungsten. Composed of tungsten, rhenium, hafnium, and carbon, the alloy is prepared by consumable electrode vacuum arc-melting and can be fabricated into rod, plate, and sheet
Kinetic market models with single commodity having price fluctuations
We study here numerically the behavior of an ideal gas like model of markets
having only one non-consumable commodity. We investigate the behavior of the
steady-state distributions of money, commodity and total wealth, as the
dynamics of trading or exchange of money and commodity proceeds, with local (in
time) fluctuations in the price of the commodity. These distributions are
studied in markets with agents having uniform and random saving factors. The
self-organizing features in money distribution are similar to the cases without
any commodity (or with consumable commodities), while the commodity
distribution shows an exponential decay. The wealth distribution shows
interesting behavior: Gamma like distribution for uniform saving propensity and
has the same power-law tail, as that of the money distribution, for a market
with agents having random saving propensity.Comment: RevTeX4, 6 pages, 5 eps figures, accepted in Eur. Phys. J.
Net worth and housing equity in retirement
This paper documents the trends in the life-cycle profiles of net worth and housing equity between 1983 and 2004. The net worth of older households significantly increased during the housing boom of recent years. However, net worth grew by more than housing equity, in part because other assets also appreciated at the same time. Moreover, the younger elderly offset rising house prices by increasing their housing debt, and used some of the proceeds to invest in other assets. We also consider how much of their housing equity older households can actually tap, using reverse mortgages. This fraction is lower at younger ages, such that young retirees can consume less than half of their housing equity. These results imply that āconsumableā net worth is smaller than standard calculations of net worth. JEL Classification: G11, E2
Amortised resource analysis with separation logic
Type-based amortised resource analysis following Hofmann and Jostāwhere resources are associated with individual elements of data structures and doled out to the programmer under a linear typing disciplineāhave been successful in providing concrete resource bounds for functional programs, with good support for inference. In this work we translate the idea of amortised resource analysis to imperative languages by embedding a logic of resources, based on Bunched Implications, within Separation Logic. The Separation Logic component allows us to assert the presence and shape of mutable data structures on the heap, while the resource component allows us to state the resources associated with each member of the structure. We present the logic on a small imperative language with procedures and mutable heap, based on Java bytecode. We have formalised the logic within the Coq proof assistant and extracted a certified verification condition generator. We demonstrate the logic on some examples, including proving termination of in-place list reversal on lists with cyclic tails
Resource-driven Substructural Defeasible Logic
Linear Logic and Defeasible Logic have been adopted to formalise different
features relevant to agents: consumption of resources, and reasoning with
exceptions. We propose a framework to combine sub-structural features,
corresponding to the consumption of resources, with defeasibility aspects, and
we discuss the design choices for the framework

Precision cancer monitoring using a novel, fully integrated, microfluidic array partitioning digital PCR platform.
A novel digital PCR (dPCR) platform combining off-the-shelf reagents, a micro-molded plastic microfluidic consumable with a fully integrated single dPCR instrument was developed to address the needs for routine clinical diagnostics. This new platform offers a simplified workflow that enables: rapid time-to-answer; low potential for cross contamination; minimal sample waste; all within a single integrated instrument. Here we showcase the capability of this fully integrated platform to detect and quantify non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) rare genetic mutants (EGFR T790M) with precision cell-free DNA (cfDNA) standards. Next, we validated the platform with an established chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) fusion gene (BCR-ABL1) assay down to 0.01% mutant allele frequency to highlight the platform's utility for precision cancer monitoring. Thirdly, using a juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML) patient-specific assay we demonstrate the ability to precisely track an individual cancer patient's response to therapy and show the patient's achievement of complete molecular remission. These three applications highlight the flexibility and utility of this novel fully integrated dPCR platform that has the potential to transform personalized medicine for cancer recurrence monitoring
USING MACHINE LEARNING AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO MINIMIZE SHIPPING COSTS OF CONSUMABLES IN A SUBSCRIPTION OR MPS SYSTEM
A user of a consumable product needs to know when the consumable will reach end of life (EOL).
This enables the user to purchase a replacement consumable to both avoid wasting any remaining
material of the product by replacing it too early as well as being able to have a replacement on hand
and avoid the inability to use the product
