    Randomness properties of sequence generated using logistic map with novel permutation and substitution techniques

    In this paper, a design of a chaos-based keystream generator (KSG) using a novel permutation technique with various two-dimensional patterns and a substitution technique with Z4 mapping is proposed. Initially, a chaotic function such as a logistic map is used to generate a pseudo-random number. Then these numbers are converted into binary sequences using binary mapping. In order to achieve statistical properties of the resultant binary sequences, a novel method of KSG is developed by considering parameters such as initial value “x0”, system parameter “r”, novel permutation techniques defined by 2-dimensional patterns, and substitution technique defined over Z4 transformation. The binary sequences so obtained are subjected to randomness tests by applying the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) SP-800-22 (Revision 1a) test suite for investigation of its randomness properties to obtain suitable sequences which can be used as a key for cryptographic applications. From the results obtained, it is found that the binary sequences exhibit better randomness properties as per the cryptographic requirements

    A new speech encryption algorithm based on dual shuffling Hénon chaotic map

    Over the past few decades, many algorithms have been proposed to improve the performance of speech encryption over un-secure channel (i.e., Internet). In this paper, the security level was enhanced using a dynamic dual chaotic based on Hénon chaotic map. In the proposed algorithm, the speech elements are shuffled in a random fashion. Moreover, when both Hénon state variables are free to be used for shuffling the index is toggled randomly between them according to toggle bit. After index shuffling each speech element is modified with XOR operation between the original speech element value and the key that is selected randomly from the updated key table. The same chaotic map is used to initiate the empty or full table and provide new table entries from the values that are already shuffled. The experimental results show that the proposed crypto-system is simple, fast with extra random toggling behavior. The high order of substitution make it sensitive to initial condition, common cryptanalysis attacks such as linear and differential attacks are infeasible

    A new dynamic speech encryption algorithm based on lorenz chaotic map over internet protocol

    This paper introduces a dynamic speech encryption algorithm based on Lorenz chaotic map over internet protocol to enhance the services of the real-time applications such as increases the security level and reduces latency. The proposed algorithm was divided into two processes: dynamic key generation process using 128-bit hash value to dynamically alter the initial secret keys, and encryption and decryption process using Lorenz system. In the proposed algorithm, the performance evaluation is carried out through efficient simulations and implementations and statistical analysis. In addition, the average time delay in the proposed algorithm and some of the existing algorithms such as AES is compared. The obtained results concluded that, the proposed dynamic speech encryption algorithm is effectually secured against various cryptanalysis attacks and has useful cryptographic properties such as confusion and diffusion for better voice communication in the voice applications field in the Internet

    Methods of covert communication of speech signals based on a bio-inspired principle

    This work presents two speech hiding methods based on a bio-inspired concept known as the ability of adaptation of speech signals. A cryptographic model uses the adaptation to transform a secret message to a non-sensitive target speech signal, and then, the scrambled speech signal is an intelligible signal. The residual intelligibility is extremely low and it is appropriate to transmit secure speech signals. On the other hand, in a steganographic model, the adapted speech signal is hidden into a host signal by using indirect substitution or direct substitution. In the first case, the scheme is known as Efficient Wavelet Masking (EWM), and in the second case, it is known as improved-EWM (iEWM). While EWM demonstrated to be highly statistical transparent, the second one, iEWM, demonstrated to be highly robust against signal manipulations. Finally, with the purpose to transmit secure speech signals in real-time operation, a hardware-based scheme is proposedEsta tesis presenta dos métodos de comunicación encubierta de señales de voz utilizando un concepto bio-inspirado, conocido como la “habilidad de adaptación de señales de voz”. El modelo de criptografía utiliza la adaptación para transformar un mensaje secreto a una señal de voz no confidencial, obteniendo una señal de voz encriptada legible. Este método es apropiado para transmitir señales de voz seguras porque en la señal encriptada no quedan rastros del mensaje secreto original. En el caso de esteganografía, la señal de voz adaptada se oculta en una señal de voz huésped, utilizando sustitución directa o indirecta. En el primer caso el esquema se denomina EWM y en el segundo caso iEWM. EWM demostró ser altamente transparente, mientras que iEWM demostró ser altamente robusto contra manipulaciones de señal. Finalmente, con el propósito de transmitir señales de voz seguras en tiempo real, se propone un esquema para dispositivos hardware
