    Parameter Prediction for Lorenz Attractor by using Deep Neural Network

    Nowadays, most modern deep learning models are based on artificial neural networks. This research presents Deep Neural Network to learn the database, which consists of high precision, a strange Lorenz attractor. Lorenz system is one of the simple chaotic systems, which is a nonlinear and characterized by an unstable dynamic behavior. The research aims to predict the parameter of a strange Lorenz attractor either yes or not. The primary method implemented in this paper is the Deep Neural Network by using Phyton Keras library. For the neural network, the different number of hidden layers are used to compare the accuracy of the system prediction. A set of data is used as the input of the neural network, while for the output part, the accuracy of prediction data is expected. As a result, the accuracy of the testing result shows that 100% correct prediction can be achieved when using the training data. Meanwhile, only 60% correct prediction is achieved for the new random data

    A Comprehensive Survey on Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm and Its Applications

    Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a heuristic global optimization method, proposed originally by Kennedy and Eberhart in 1995. It is now one of the most commonly used optimization techniques. This survey presented a comprehensive investigation of PSO. On one hand, we provided advances with PSO, including its modifications (including quantum-behaved PSO, bare-bones PSO, chaotic PSO, and fuzzy PSO), population topology (as fully connected, von Neumann, ring, star, random, etc.), hybridization (with genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, Tabu search, artificial immune system, ant colony algorithm, artificial bee colony, differential evolution, harmonic search, and biogeography-based optimization), extensions (to multiobjective, constrained, discrete, and binary optimization), theoretical analysis (parameter selection and tuning, and convergence analysis), and parallel implementation (in multicore, multiprocessor, GPU, and cloud computing forms). On the other hand, we offered a survey on applications of PSO to the following eight fields: electrical and electronic engineering, automation control systems, communication theory, operations research, mechanical engineering, fuel and energy, medicine, chemistry, and biology. It is hoped that this survey would be beneficial for the researchers studying PSO algorithms

    Metaheuristic Algorithm for Photovoltaic Parameters: Comparative Study and Prediction with a Firefly Algorithm

    In this paper, a Firefly algorithm is proposed for identification and comparative study of five, seven and eight parameters of a single and double diode solar cell and photovoltaic module under different solar irradiation and temperature. Further, a metaheuristic algorithm is proposed in order to predict the electrical parameters of three different solar cell technologies. The first is a commercial RTC mono-crystalline silicon solar cell with single and double diodes at 33 °C and 1000 W/m2. The second, is a flexible hydrogenated amorphous silicon a-Si:H solar cell single diode. The third is a commercial photovoltaic module (Photowatt-PWP 201) in which 36 polycrystalline silicon cells are connected in series, single diode, at 25 °C and 1000 W/m2 from experimental current-voltage. The proposed constrained objective function is adapted to minimize the absolute errors between experimental and predicted values of voltage and current in two zones. Finally, for performance validation, the parameters obtained through the Firefly algorithm are compared with recent research papers reporting metaheuristic optimization algorithms and analytical methods. The presented results confirm the validity and reliability of the Firefly algorithm in extracting the optimal parameters of the photovoltaic solar cell

    Settings-Free Hybrid Metaheuristic General Optimization Methods

    Several population-based metaheuristic optimization algorithms have been proposed in the last decades, none of which are able either to outperform all existing algorithms or to solve all optimization problems according to the No Free Lunch (NFL) theorem. Many of these algorithms behave effectively, under a correct setting of the control parameter(s), when solving different engineering problems. The optimization behavior of these algorithms is boosted by applying various strategies, which include the hybridization technique and the use of chaotic maps instead of the pseudo-random number generators (PRNGs). The hybrid algorithms are suitable for a large number of engineering applications in which they behave more effectively than the thoroughbred optimization algorithms. However, they increase the difficulty of correctly setting control parameters, and sometimes they are designed to solve particular problems. This paper presents three hybridizations dubbed HYBPOP, HYBSUBPOP, and HYBIND of up to seven algorithms free of control parameters. Each hybrid proposal uses a different strategy to switch the algorithm charged with generating each new individual. These algorithms are Jaya, sine cosine algorithm (SCA), Rao’s algorithms, teaching-learning-based optimization (TLBO), and chaotic Jaya. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithms perform better than the original algorithms, which implies the optimal use of these algorithms according to the problem to be solved.     Perturbed stochastic fractal search for solar PV parameter estimation

    Following the widespread use of solar energy all over the world, the design of high quality photovoltaic (PV) cells has attracted strong research interests. To properly evaluate, control and optimize solar PV systems, it is crucial to establish a reliable and accurate model, which is a challenging task due to the presence of non-linearity and multi-modality in the PV systems. In this work, a new meta-heuristic algorithm (MHA), called perturbed stochastic fractal search (pSFS), is proposed to estimate the PV parameters in an optimization framework. The novelty lies in two aspects: (i) employ its own searching operators, i.e., diffusion and updating, to achieve a balance between the global exploration and the local exploitation; and (ii) incorporate a chaotic elitist perturbation strategy to improve the searching performance. To examine the effectiveness of pSFS, this method is applied to solve three PV estimation problems for different PV models, including single diode, double diode and PV modules. Experimental results and statistical analysis show that the proposed pSFS has improved estimation accuracy and robustness compared with several other algorithms recently developed

    A Hierarchal Planning Framework for AUV Mission Management in a Spatio-Temporal Varying Ocean

    The purpose of this paper is to provide a hierarchical dynamic mission planning framework for a single autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) to accomplish task-assign process in a limited time interval while operating in an uncertain undersea environment, where spatio-temporal variability of the operating field is taken into account. To this end, a high level reactive mission planner and a low level motion planning system are constructed. The high level system is responsible for task priority assignment and guiding the vehicle toward a target of interest considering on-time termination of the mission. The lower layer is in charge of generating optimal trajectories based on sequence of tasks and dynamicity of operating terrain. The mission planner is able to reactively re-arrange the tasks based on mission/terrain updates while the low level planner is capable of coping unexpected changes of the terrain by correcting the old path and re-generating a new trajectory. As a result, the vehicle is able to undertake the maximum number of tasks with certain degree of maneuverability having situational awareness of the operating field. The computational engine of the mentioned framework is based on the biogeography based optimization (BBO) algorithm that is capable of providing efficient solutions. To evaluate the performance of the proposed framework, firstly, a realistic model of undersea environment is provided based on realistic map data, and then several scenarios, treated as real experiments, are designed through the simulation study. Additionally, to show the robustness and reliability of the framework, Monte-Carlo simulation is carried out and statistical analysis is performed. The results of simulations indicate the significant potential of the two-level hierarchical mission planning system in mission success and its applicability for real-time implementation

    Hybrid biogeography-based evolutionary algorithms

    Hybrid evolutionary algorithms (EAs) are effective optimization methods that combine multiple EAs. We propose several hybrid EAs by combining some recently-developed EAs with a biogeography-based hybridization strategy. We test our hybrid EAs on the continuous optimization benchmarks from the 2013 Congress on Evolutionary Computation (CEC) and on some real-world traveling salesman problems. The new hybrid EAs include two approaches to hybridization: (1) iteration-level hybridization, in which various EAs and BBO are executed in sequence; and (2) algorithm-level hybridization, which runs various EAs independently and then exchanges information between them using ideas from biogeography. Our empirical study shows that the new hybrid EAs significantly outperforms their constituent algorithms with the selected tuning parameters and generation limits, and algorithm-level hybridization is generally better than iteration-level hybridization. Results also show that the best new hybrid algorithm in this paper is competitive with the algorithms from the 2013 CEC competition. In addition, we show that the new hybrid EAs are generally robust to tuning parameters. In summary, the contribution of this paper is the introduction of biogeography-based hybridization strategies to the EA community

    Identification of parameters in photovoltaic models through a runge kutta optimizer

    Recently, the resources of renewable energy have been in intensive use due to their environmental and technical merits. The identification of unknown parameters in photovoltaic (PV) models is one of the main issues in simulation and modeling of renewable energy sources. Due to the random behavior of weather, the change in output current from a PV model is nonlinear. In this regard, a new optimization algorithm called Runge–Kutta optimizer (RUN) is applied for estimating the parameters of three PV models. The RUN algorithm is applied for the R.T.C France solar cell, as a case study. Moreover, the root mean square error (RMSE) between the calculated and measured current is used as the objective function for identifying solar cell parameters. The proposed RUN algorithm is superior compared with the Hunger Games Search (HGS) algorithm, the Chameleon Swarm Algorithm (CSA), the Tunicate Swarm Algorithm (TSA), Harris Hawk’s Optimization (HHO), the Sine–Cosine Algorithm (SCA) and the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. Three solar cell models—single diode, double diode and triple diode solar cell models (SDSCM, DDSCM and TDSCM)—are applied to check the performance of the RUN algorithm to extract the parameters. the best RMSE from the RUN algorithm is 0.00098624, 0.00098717 and 0.000989133 for SDSCM, DDSCM and TDSCM, respectively
