    Get PDF
The present study empirically investigated the supply chain capabilities to determine the supply chain performance in electronic industry of Thailand. Globally, competition has increased due to business expansion and global phenomenon. The study investigated the relationship between supply chain capabilities as measured by supplier partnership and innovativeness in turbulent and highly competitive environment. The current study is conducted on electronic industry of Thailand, to investigate the influence of supplier partnership and supply chain performance and influence of innovation on supply chain performance. The study is unique in determining the moderating role of technology adoption for supply chain between independent variable and dependent variable. The analysis of the study suggested that supplier partnership influence supply chain performance, similarly innovation influence the supply chain performance, moreover moderating effect was also reported and demonstrated in analysis phase of the study by significant change in the effect of independent variables on dependent variables

    Get PDF
The prime objective of the current research is to determine the operational performance of textile units of Thailand. The study was conducted on the Thai textile manufacturers as this industry is one of important and backbone for economy. The study aims to determine the operational performance predictors and investigated the relationship between technology integration and logistics integration. The information possesses the central importance in management of supply chain and play vital role in supply chain activities as decision making based on information quality and accuracy. Inaccurate information will mislead the firm to take inappropriate decision in highly competitive environment. The study examined the moderating role of information quality and found interesting results that technology and logistics integration positively significantly influence the operational performance. The moderating effect was observed in technology integration and operational performance but no moderation effect was found between logistics integration and operational performance

An Evaluation of the environmental factors for supply chain strategy decisions using grey systems and composite indicators

    Get PDF
The purpose of this work is to assess the importance of environmental factors in a supply chain with four partners as a preliminary step to select the competitive strategies and objectives. To achieve this purpose, a real case study was carried out in a footwear supply chain, in which two approaches were used: the grey system theory and uncertainty analysis tools for composite indicators. In order to validate both approaches, a seven-phase research methodology was developed and applied to our case study. In addition, the priorization of environmental factors was calculated individually for each partner. The results allow managers to establish the competitive strategy that best suits the prioritization of the most relevant factors and to define the most appropriate objectives where the supply chain should invest its efforts and resources

A best-worst-method-based performance evaluation framework for manufacturing industry

    Get PDF
Purpose: The purpose of paper is to develop a performance evaluation framework for manufacturing industry to evaluate overall manufacturing performance. Design/methodology/approach: The Best Worst Method (BWM) is used to aid in developing a performance evaluation framework for manufacturing industry to evaluate their overall performance. Findings: The proposed BWM-based manufacturing performance evaluation framework is implemented in an Indian steel manufacturing company to evaluate their overall manufacturing performance. Operational performance of the organization is very consistent and range between 60% to 70% throughout the year. Management performance can be seen high in percentage in the first two quarter of the financial year ranging from 70% to 80% whereas a slight decrease in the management performance is observed in the 3rd and 4th quarter ranging from 60% to 70%. The social stakeholder performance has a peak in first quarter ranging from 80% to 100% as at start of financial year. Originality/value: This paper utilized BWM, a MCDM method in developing a performance evaluation index that integrates several categories of manufacturing and evaluates overall manufacturing performance. This is a novel contribution to BWM decision-making application.Output Status: Forthcoming/Available Onlin

This eBook contains the inspired and inspiring picks from the student essays written by students and student groups in the courses organised by Finland Futures Research Centre (FFRC). This year’s selection shows that brilliant new students arrive our courses. The topics range from sustainability transitions to corporate foresight, from ethics to methodology, from data business to geoengineering. Independent, constructively critical open deliberation of how futures studies should be carried out is one of the core goals of our education and a key to further development of the courses and the whole field of futures studies

A knowledge base system for overall supply chain performance evaluation : a multi-criteria decision-making approach

Due to the advancement of technology that allows organizations to collect, store, organize and use data information system for efficient decision making (DM), a new horizon of supply chain performance evaluation starts. Today, DM is shifting from “information-driven” to “data-driven” for more precision in overall supply chain performance evaluation. Based on the real-time information, fast decisions are important in order to deliver product more rapidly. Performance evaluation is critical to the success of the supply chain (SC). In managing SC, there are many decisions to be taken at each level of multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) (short-term or long-term) because of many decisions and decision criteria (attributes) that have an impact on overall supply chain performance. Therefore it is essential for decision makers to know the relationship between decisions and decision criteria on overall SC performance. However, existing supply chain performance models (SCPM) are not adequate in establishing a link between decisions and decisions criteria on overall SC performance. Most of the decisions and decision attributes in SC are conflicting in nature and performance measure of different criteria (attributes) at different levels of decisions (long-term and short-term) is different and makes it more intricate for SC performance evaluation. SC performance heavily depends on how well you design your SC. In other words, it is quite difficult to improve overall SC performance if decisions criteria (attributes) are not embedded or considered at the phase of SC design. The connection between the SC design and supply chain management (SCM) is essential for effective SC. Many companies such as Wal-Mart, Dell, etc. are successful companies and they achieve their success because of their effective SC design and management of SC activities. The purpose of this thesis is in two folds: First is to develop an integrated knowledge base system (KBS) based on Fuzzy-AHP that establish a relationship between decisions and decisions criteria (attributes) and evaluate overall SC performance. The proposed KBS assists organizations and decision-makers in evaluating their overall SC performance and helps in identifying under-performed SC function and its associated criteria. In the end, the proposed system has been implemented in a case company, and we developed a SC performance monitoring dashboard of a case company for top managers and operational managers. Second to develop decisions models that will help us in calibrating decisions and improving overall SC performance
