Informetrics on accidents and trauma
MEDLINE database has been analysed for 1995-97 on index Accidents and Trauma. Publications output has been classified year-wise country-wise, journal-wise and other fine structure characteristics have been found. High frequency keywords have been identified. Other valuable data have been compiled. The value of informater for decision-making is brought out by this study and the comprehensive data compilation by MEDLINE is established
Distributed data processing in vehicular networks using mobile agents
In a vehicular network, vehicles can exchange interesting information (e.g., about accidents, traffic status, etc.) using short-range wireless communications. Besides, the vehicles can be equipped with additional sensors that can directly obtain data from the environment. How to efficiently process and collect these data is an open problem. We argue that mobile agent technology could be helpful

A decision support system for road safety analysis
The aim of this paper is to develop a procedure for supporting public administrations in planning safety interventions on the road network. Road safety conditions depend on several factors, represented by a variety of quantitative and qualitative data, including: number of traffic accidents, traffic flow, lane width, shoulder width, road curvature and grade, access-point density, road markings and road signs (Mooren et al., 2012; OECD, 2002). By analysing a set of given roads or different sections of the same road, each with specific safety conditions, this methodology allows to determine which sections require interventions to improve safe driving conditions. Specifically, the multicriteria analysis technique is used in decision-making processes to support the choice among different alternatives in complex problems (Fadda, 2002). Among the different multicriteria techniques available, the Concordance Analysis will be used here. This paper proposes a unique modelling tool that incorporates the different indicators to calculate safety conditions. The methodology has been applied to a real case study for evaluating road safety on sections of a motorway infrastructur
Pertanggung Jawaban Tindak Pidana Lalu Lintas Pada Pn Tanjung Karang
One of the violations that often occur in Indonesia is traffic violations. The traffic crime itself is one of the acts of violation of the laws governing traffic. Violations committted by irresponsible persons can result in traffic accidents. Traffic violations are often herd with the term ticket in Indonesia, namely violations whose scope includes criminal law, consideringthat these actions are prohibited by applicable regulations resulting in the application of criminal sanctions as a form of accountability from the authoritie
On Mathematical Model of Traffic Control
This paper presents the formation of platoons and their velocity-size distribution in freeway traffic using the stochastic approach. This is aimed at reducing traffic congestions, maintaining safety, increasing highway capacity, limiting the speed of a car by the spacing between it and the car directly ahead and above all reducing motor accidents. Traffic systems shall also be modeled and applied to traffic problems of different kinds to find their solutions. Keywords: Models, Traffics, Platoons, Multi-Agent Systems (MAS
Youth Design the Future of Transportation for Their Community
The complexity of a globalized world, accelerating technological advances, and rapid change challenge educational systems. Around the world the call is to develop 21st century skills with a focus on career readiness, ability for lifelong learning, and collaboration skills. The development of the foundational elements of civic engagement (civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions) of children and youth is also a dominant concern for educators and policymakers. Unfortunately, not all youth have the same opportunities to develop civic self-efficacy. However, the civic empowerment engagement gap can be closed by providing underserved students with interactive and authentic civic experiences.
We strove to create such an authentic civic experience and piloted the Fresno State Transportation Challenge (FSTI) at an elementary school in the Washington Unified School district, Fresno County, California. The research question for this innovation grant was: Can we leverage the expertise and resources of the Fresno State Transportation Institute to bring high quality educational experience to underserved students and help them improve their communities
Analysis of Motor Vehicle-Deer Accidents in Kentucky
An analysis of motor vehicle-deer (deer) accidents for the five-year period of 1989 through 1993 was conducted. There was an average of about 2,800 deer accidents per year. This type of accident was generally not severe with almost 96 percent property-damage-only accidents. Trends were noted in time and date of the accidents. The highest percentage of deer accidents occurred between 6 and 10 pm and in November and December. The percentage of this type of accident was highest in western and northern Kentucky and lowest in southeastern and central Kentucky. The accident rate for this type of accident was highest on rural parkways with about 22 percent of all accidents on this type of highway involving a collision with a deer.
A procedure was developed to identify locations having high numbers and rates of deer accidents. Lists of one mile sections, by highway classification, having the highest critical rate factors are presented
A GIS Support System for Road Safety Analysis and Management
In diagnosing the cause traffic accidents, traffic engineers, planners and
decision makers often need as much information as possible before deciding the appropriate countermeasure. In road safety analysis apart from producing
the most accurate prediction from statistical figures, the need to visualize information geographically i always essential. This paper describes the
implementation of SMKJ2, the method used to provide multiple ways of visualising accident data based on certain set of criteria, and the plan to incorporate multiple experts and knowledge base in to the system. The project,
presently confined to the area of Seremban City Council of Negeri Sembilan, has been carried out in collaboration with The Royal Malaysian Police and The Road Safety Council
