New advances in H∞ control and filtering for nonlinear systems
The main objective of this special issue is to
summarise recent advances in H∞ control and filtering
for nonlinear systems, including time-delay, hybrid and
stochastic systems. The published papers provide new
ideas and approaches, clearly indicating the advances
made in problem statements, methodologies or applications
with respect to the existing results. The special
issue also includes papers focusing on advanced and
non-traditional methods and presenting considerable
novelties in theoretical background or experimental
setup. Some papers present applications to newly
emerging fields, such as network-based control and
estimation

These failures are described by a model that considers possible outages or partial failures in every single actuator of each decentralised controller. The control design is performed through two steps. First, a decentralised reliable guaranteed cost control set is derived and, second, a feasible linear matrix inequalities procedure is presented for the effective construction of the control set. A numerical example illustrates the efficiency of the proposed control schemePeer ReviewedPostprint (published version
On Computing the Worst-case H∞ Performance of Lur'e Systems with Uncertain Time-invariant Delays
This paper presents a worst-case H∞ performance analysis for Lur'e systems with time-invariant delays. The sucient condition to guarantee an upper bound of worst-case performance is developed based on the delay-partitioning Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional containing the integral of sector-bounded nonlinearities. Using Jensen inequality and S-procedure, the delay-dependent criterion is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities. In addition, we extend the criterion to compute the worst-case performance for Lur'e systems subject to norm-bounded uncertainties by using a matrix eliminating lemma. Numerical results show that our criterion provide the least upper bound on the worst-case H∞ performance comparing to the criteria derived based on existing techniques
Robust passivity and passification of stochastic fuzzy time-delay systems
The official published version can be obtained from the link below. In this paper, the passivity and passification problems are investigated for a class of uncertain stochastic fuzzy systems with time-varying delays. The fuzzy system is based on the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) model that is often used to represent the complex nonlinear systems in terms of fuzzy sets and fuzzy reasoning. To reflect more realistic dynamical behaviors of the system, both the parameter uncertainties and the stochastic disturbances are considered, where the parameter uncertainties enter into all the system matrices and the stochastic disturbances are given in the form of a Brownian motion. We first propose the definition of robust passivity in the sense of expectation. Then, by utilizing the Lyapunov functional method, the Itô differential rule and the matrix analysis techniques, we establish several sufficient criteria such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and stochastic disturbances, the closed-loop stochastic fuzzy time-delay system is robustly passive in the sense of expectation. The derived criteria, which are either delay-independent or delay-dependent, are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that can be easily checked by using the standard numerical software. Illustrative examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed results. This work was supported by the Teaching and Research Fund for Excellent Young Teachers at Southeast University of China, the Specialized Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education for New Teachers 200802861044, the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant 60804028 and the Royal Society of the United Kingdom
On delay-dependent robust stability under model transformation of some neutral systems
summary:This paper focuses on the delay-dependent robust stability of linear neutral delay systems. The systems under consideration are described by functional differential equations, with norm bounded time varying nonlinear uncertainties in the "state" and norm bounded time varying quasi-linear uncertainties in the delayed "state" and in the difference operator. The stability analysis is performed via the Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional approach. Sufficient delay dependent conditions for robust stability are given in terms of the existence of positive definite solutions of LMIs
New Robust Exponential Stability Criterion for Uncertain Neutral Systems with Discrete and Distributed Time-Varying Delays and Nonlinear Perturbations
We investigate the problem of robust exponential stability for uncertain neutral systems with discrete and distributed time-varying delays and nonlinear perturbations. Based on the combination of descriptor model transformation, decomposition technique of coefficient matrix, and utilization of zero equation and new Lyapunov functional, sufficient conditions for robust exponential stability are obtained and formulated in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). The new stability conditions are less conservative and more general than some existing results
