The Managerial Process in the Media Industry

    Get PDF
Managing an organisation from the media industry has a series of particularities that are the object of this analysis. The main functions of management are studied with the help of relevant examples and case studies taken from the specialized literature. For such a complex, dynamic and versatile industry such as media, with the electronic sector evolving perhaps more rapidly than in any other industry, the challenges facing managers are multiple.Media, management, functions, process.

Ī£āˆ’\Sigma^- Photoproduction on the Neutron: Results from CLAS

As part of a broader study of kaon photoproduction on deuterium, the Ī³nā†’K+Ī£āˆ’\gamma n \to K^{+} \Sigma^{-} channel was investigated. The data were acquired at Jefferson Lab using the CLAS detector and the Photon-Tagging Facility installed in Hall B. The photon energy range covered was from 0.50 to 2.95 GeV. For the present analysis, the Ī³nā†’K+Ī£āˆ’\gamma n \to K^{+} \Sigma^{-} channel was identified by detecting the positive kaon in coincidence with both decay products of the Ī£āˆ’\Sigma^- hyperon, Ļ€āˆ’\pi^- and nn. Preliminary differential cross--sections are shown as a function of the invariant energy W and the kaon polar angle in the center of mass system.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures, INPC2001 proceeding

The paper proposed for being presented belongs to the field research "International Affairs and European Integration". The paper entitled "Common Agricultural Policy from Health Check decisions to the post-2013 reform" aims to analyze the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) from the Health Check adoption in November 2008 to a new reform post-2013. The objectives of the paper are the presentation of the Health Check with its advantages and disadvantages as well as the analysis of the opportunity of a new European policy and its reforming having in view that the analysis of Health Check condition was considered a compromise. The paper is related to the internal and international research consisting in several books, studies, documents that analyze the particularities of the most debated, controversial and reformed EU policy. A personal study is represented by the first report within the PhD paper called "The reform of CAP and its implications for Romania's agriculture"(coordinator prof. Gheorghe Hurduzeu PhD, Academy of Economic Studies Bucharest, Faculty of International Business, research studies in the period 2009-2012). The research methodology used consists in collecting and analysis data from national and international publications, their validation, followed by a dissemination of the results in order to express a personal opinion regarding CAP and its reform. The results of the research consist in proving the opportunity of a new reform due to the fact that Health Check belongs already to the past. The paper belongs to the field research mentioned, in the attempt to prove the opportunity of building a new EU agricultural policy. The challenges CAP is facing are: food safety, environmental and climate changes, territorial balance as well as new challenges-improving sustainable management of natural resources, maintaining competitiveness in the context of globalization growth, strengthening EU cohesion in rural areas, increasing the support of CAP for member states, farmers and active farmers-, sign in outlining the CAP contribution to the "EU 2020 Strategy". This paper aims to prove that the future CAP should become a more sustainable, balanced, better focused, simpler and more efficient, more responsible to the needs and expectations of EU citizens.Common Agricultural Policy, reform, rural development, Health Check, EU 2020 Strategy

This paper deals with the problem of estimating the deviation of the values of a function from its mean value. We consider the following special cases: i) the case of random variables (attached to arbitrary probability fields); ii) the comparison is performed additively or multiplicatively; iii) the mean value is attached to a multiplicative averaging process

Wonders of Technology-Teaching Physics to Non-Scientists

    Get PDF
Wonders of Technology is a conceptual physics course developed for nonā€”science majors. The approach taken here in the introduction of the physical concepts is to depict their role in todayā€™s technology, specifically the technology familiar to the students, and also to emphasize the connection between technology, art, and culture from the historical perspective. Why this approach? The traditional method of teaching physics is perceived by many students as user-unfriendly ā€” they think physics is difficult, abstract, and, in fact, of little or no relevance to everyday life. The course Wonders of Technology alleviates this perception by placing the students on familiar ground that provides a fertile environment for an easier assimilation of knowledge. By examining the technology students use on a daily basis to demonstrate how physics makes things work, students are motivated to seek understanding of the principles underlying their operation. The course was developed within the guidelines of the new general education requirements at Virginia Commonwealth University. This presentation highlights some of the highly successful features of the newly developed course, with emphasis on responses from the education majors who are enrolled in the course
