    Literature Review of Process Models in Asset- and Maintenance-Management-Systems

    Due to the advancements in digitalization and increasing system complexities during the past decade, asset and maintenance management are becoming more important in companies. Especially in manufacturing companies, lean, effective and efficient production is necessary, which can only be achieved with optimal strategies for physical assets and excellent asset management, to master challenging market situations. System models are supporting management tools for the systematic development of asset and maintenance management in the company. One of the most common types of system models are process models, which are abstract representations of complex processes. They represent the chronological and factual sequence of functions, activities, essential subsystems, properties and interfaces. Numerous process models of maintenance and asset management have been published over the years, representing different objectives and aspects. This article provides a framework that clarifies the morphology of the models mentioned in literature. Finally, the similarities and differences regarding model application in practice and further research are discussed. Overall, the article intends to help researchers derive new, extended and optimized models for the domain

    A Hybrid Simulation Study to Determine an Optimal Maintenance Strategy

    With the increasing complexity of the process industry, having excellent maintenance management is essential for manufacturing industries. Various parts that interact and interdependent with each other make a well-planned maintenance strategy is one of the major challenges facing by industry. The whole system could be interrupted just simply because of the failure of a component.  Therefore, a review of a maintenance strategy must be done from a system perspective. It is suggested that the optimal preventive maintenance time interval is not only determined by the lowest maintenance cost of each machine but also its impact on the whole system. Two main indicators that can accommodate the system perspective are reliability and revenue. A large number of machines and the array of machines can be synthesized in the reliability indicator. Moreover,  the creation of maximum revenue is always the main goal for a business. The best maintenance strategy will be determined from the revenue obtained by a process industry. The process industry discussed in this study is a flour mill which is very well known in Surabaya. This study applied a hybrid simulation to solve this problem. Monte Carlo simulation was used to observe the machine individually and the results are reviewed using the application of System Dynamics. Three improvement scenarios were proposed in this simulation study. Scenario 2 was chosen as the best scenario because it was able to generate the highest revenue at the end of the period. Scenario 2 recommends setting the preventive maintenance time interval considering resource availability

    Seiring perkembangan jaman dan tingkat persaingan usaha yang semakin ketat, memacu perusahaan dan para pelaku bisnis untuk dapat meningkatkan keunggulan bersaingnya agar bisa bertahan dan memenangkan persaingan usaha. Usaha kecil tidak cukup hanya memiliki keungggulan komparatif, namun yang lebih penting adalah memiliki keungggulan bersaing yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis dan menguji pengaruh inovasi dan modal intelektual terhadap keunggulan bersaing berkelanjutan, serta dampaknya terhadap kinerja bisnis. Penelitian ini juga dilakukan untuk mengembangkan model teoritik kinerja bisnis melalui keunggulan bersaing berkelanjutan, serta anteseden inovasi dan modal intelektual. Enam hipotesis dikembangkan dan diuji dalam kerangka sampel 145 industri beras Indonesia di Jawa Timur. Alat analisis yang digunakan adalah pemodelan persamaan struktural dengan perangkat lunak LISREL 8.8. Hasil penelitian ini memperkuat teori dasar sumber daya dan pengetahuan, bahwa inovasi dan modal intelektual sebagai anteseden strategis. Hal tersebut terbukti efektif di dalam menciptakan keunggulan bersaing berkelanjutan dan berimplikasi pada meningkatnya kinerja bisnis, serta inovasi dan modal intelektual berperan penting dan merupakan kunci sukses untuk bertahan dan berkembang di dalam menciptakan keunggulan bersaing berkelanjutan. Temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan kontribusi penting keunggulan bersaing berkelanjutan yang dibuktikan mampu memediasi inovasi dan modal intelektual dalam meningkatkan kinerja bisnis perusahaan
