Araştırmalarda farklı beceri alanlarında Kinect sensörünün kullanımı öne çıkmaktadır.: In this research, it is aimed to examine the publications in the field of special education published between 2010-2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection scientific database, including gesture-based technology applications, with a systematic review approach and bibliometric methods. After applying the exclusion criteria, 273 articles were analyzed using the bibliometric analysis method with the help of the VOSviewer software. The reviewed studies were classified according to prominent authors, most cited articles, journals, and countries and visualized with bibliometric maps. In addition, 11 articles directly related to education and training among 273 articles were determined according to different criteria and examined in depth with a systematic review approach. Bibliometric results indicate that most cited country is Taiwan, the institution is Chung Yuan Christian University, the journal is "Research in Developmental Disabilities", and the author is Chang, Yao-Jen. In the co-authorship analysis, 2 clusters emerged according to Organizations and Authors units of analysis, and 7 clusters emerged in the co-occurence analysis. Systematic review results indicate that the individuals diagnosed with autism are mostly included in the studies as the target group in the articles related to education and training. In addition, results show that the Kinect sensor is used more for teaching different skill

Motion-based technology to support motor skills screening in developing children: A scoping review

Background. Acquiring motor skills is fundamental for children's development since it is linked to cognitive development. However, access to early detection of motor development delays is limited. Aim. This review explores the use and potential of motion-based technology (MBT) as a complement to support and increase access to motor screening in developing children. Methods. Six databases were searched following the PRISMA guidelines to search, select, and assess relevant works where MBT recognised the execution of children's motor skills. Results. 164 studies were analysed to understand the type of MBT used, the motor skills detected, the purpose of using MBT and the age group targeted. Conclusions. There is a gap in the literature aiming to integrate MBT in motor skills development screening and assessment processes. Depth sensors are the prevailing technology offering the largest detection range for children from age 2. Nonetheless, the motor skills detected by MBT represent about half of the motor skills usually observed to screen and assess motor development. Overall, research in this field is underexplored. The use of multimodal approaches, combining various motion-based sensors, may support professionals in the health domain and increase access to early detection programmes.Funding for open access charge: Universidad de Málaga / CBUA

As natural communicators, humans establish meaning by anchoring their language to the space around them. One method that is used to establish communication is through the use of deictic gestures and expressions. Much of the research to date has focused on use of deictic behaviors in face-to-face interactions within the physical world. However, with the advent of new technology and new ways to communicate, researchers have taken interest in the ways humans interact in the virtual environment. This thesis investigates a small portion of virtual communication by examining the use of deictic behaviors in YouTube gaming tutorials. The goal of the creators of these tutorials is to communicate with their audience, in this research I posit that one of the ways they do so is through deictic behaviors that have parallels to those used in the physical world. In order to examine if this is the case, I analyzed video data through the program ELAN and formulated a unique typology of virtual deictic gestures that have roots in previously established gesture theory
