Facility layout problem: Bibliometric and benchmarking analysis
Facility layout problem is related to the location of departments in a facility area, with the aim of determining the most effective configuration. Researches based on different approaches have been published in the last six decades and, to prove the effectiveness of the results obtained, several instances have been developed. This paper presents a general overview on the extant literature on facility layout problems in order to identify the main research trends and propose future research questions. Firstly, in order to give the reader an overview of the literature, a bibliometric analysis is presented. Then, a clusterization of the papers referred to the main instances reported in literature was carried out in order to create a database that can be a useful tool in the benchmarking procedure for researchers that would approach this kind of problems
A Bibliometric Analysis and Visualization of the Scientific Publications of Universities: A Study of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences during 1992-2018
The evaluation of universities from different perspectives is important for their scientific development. Analyzing the scientific papers of a university under the bibliometric approach is one main evaluative approach. The aim of this study was to conduct a bibliometric analysis and visualization of papers published by Hamadan University of Medical Science (HUMS), Iran, during 1992-2018. This study used bibliometric and visualization techniques. Scopus database was used for data collection. 3753 papers were retrieved by applying Affiliation Search in Scopus advanced search section. Excel and VOSviewer software packages were used for data analysis and bibliometric indicator extraction. An increasing trend was seen in the numbers of HUMS's published papers and received citations. The highest rate of collaboration in national level was with Tehran University of Medical Sciences. Internationally, HUMS's researchers had the highest collaboration with the authors from the United States, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, respectively. All highly-cited papers were published in high level Q1 journals. Term clustering demonstrated four main clusters: epidemiological studies, laboratory studies, pharmacological studies, and microbiological studies. The results of this study can be beneficial to the policy-makers of this university. In addition, researchers and bibliometricians can use this study as a pattern for studying and visualizing the bibliometric indicators of other universities and research institutions
Opinion mining and sentiment analysis in marketing communications: a science mapping analysis in Web of Science (1998â2018)
Opinion mining and sentiment analysis has become ubiquitous in our society, with
applications in online searching, computer vision, image understanding, artificial intelligence and
marketing communications (MarCom). Within this context, opinion mining and sentiment analysis
in marketing communications (OMSAMC) has a strong role in the development of the field by
allowing us to understand whether people are satisfied or dissatisfied with our service or product
in order to subsequently analyze the strengths and weaknesses of those consumer experiences. To
the best of our knowledge, there is no science mapping analysis covering the research about opinion
mining and sentiment analysis in the MarCom ecosystem. In this study, we perform a science
mapping analysis on the OMSAMC research, in order to provide an overview of the scientific work
during the last two decades in this interdisciplinary area and to show trends that could be the basis
for future developments in the field. This study was carried out using VOSviewer, CitNetExplorer
and InCites based on results from Web of Science (WoS). The results of this analysis show the
evolution of the field, by highlighting the most notable authors, institutions, keywords,
publications, countries, categories and journals. The research was funded by Programa Operativo FEDER AndalucĂa 2014â2020, grant number âLa

Mathematical modelling: A retrospective overview
This study aims to comprehensively view the scientific articles
published on mathematical modelling (MM) before 2023. In this
context, analyzed articles published on MM with bibliometric
analysis under four main headings; scientific productivity, network
analysis, conceptual structure, and thematic map. The Web of
Science database was used to analyze 906 articles published by 2039
authors representing 68 countries from 1981 to 2023. According to
the study's findings, the articles published on MM differ yearly, but
the number of citations is constantly increasing. Erbas, A. K.,
Schukajlow, S., and Kaiser, G. are the most productive authors. The
most productive institutions are Purdue, Australian Catholic, and
Hamburg Universities. According to the network analysis, the
journals ZDM Mathematics Education and Educational Studies in
Mathematics come to the fore. It was determined that the best size
reduction obtained in the conceptual analysis constituted
approximately 44% of the total variability. According to the findings
obtained at the end of the research, made some suggestion
Mapping knowledge management research: a bibliometric overview
In recent years, knowledge management (KM) has consistently attained considerably growing research attention. Consequently, several literature reviews have been performed addressing different topic areas of KM. This paper seeks to present a comprehensive bibliometric and network analysis on KM to understand its development from the perspective of academic communities. Subsequently, it seeks to identify the structure of associations between prior and current themes, predict emerging trends and offer a longitudinal perspective on KM research. This study used web of science database and the initial sample was trimmed down by considering only the articles contributing to KM literature, and further 8,721 KM papers published in the last 30 years were systematically evaluated. The descriptive statistics and science mapping methods employing co-citation analysis were performed with VOSviewer software. In the descriptive analysis, we have analysed publication trends over time, geographical localization of the contributing institutions, journals, most prolific authors, top-performing institutions and most cited articles. Science mapping analysis is based on co-word analysis and co-citations analysis, namely articlesâ co-citations and authorsâ co-citations. The main findings of this paper will help researchers and academicians to develop knowledge in a specific sub-field by analysing the research outcomes of the papers included in the body of literature.

Evolution of the Socio-cognitive Structure of Knowledge Management (1986â2015): An Author Co-citation Analysis
Purpose: The evolution of the socio-cognitive structure of the field of knowledge management (KM) during the period 1986â2015 is described.
Design/methodology/approach: Records retrieved from Web of Science were submitted to author co-citation analysis (ACA) following a longitudinal perspective as of the following time slices: 1986â1996, 1997â2006, and 2007â2015. The top 10% of most cited first authors by sub-periods were mapped in bibliometric networks in order to interpret the communities formed and their relationships.
Findings: KM is a homogeneous field as indicated by networks results. Nine classical authors are identified since they are highly co-cited in each sub-period, highlighting Ikujiro Nonaka as the most influential authors in the field. The most significant communities in KM are devoted to strategic management, KM foundations, organisational learning and behaviour, and organisational theories. Major trends in the evolution of the intellectual structure of KM evidence a technological influence in 1986â1996, a strategic influence in 1997â2006, and finally a sociological influence in 2007â2015.
Research limitations: Describing a field from a single database can offer biases in terms of output coverage. Likewise, the conference proceedings and books were not used and the analysis was only based on first authors. However, the results obtained can be very useful to understand the evolution of KM research.
Practical implications: These results might be useful for managers and academicians to understand the evolution of KM field and to (re)define research activities and organisational projects.
Originality/value: The novelty of this paper lies in considering ACA as a bibliometric technique to study KM research. In addition, our investigation has wider time coverage than earlier articles
What do Publications say about the Internet of Things Challenges/Barriers to uninformed Authors? A bibliometric Analysis
he Internet of Things (IoT) as an emerging technology has widely been discussed in the literature in recent years. There are also bibliometric analyses in this regard that illustrate the current status of IoT research. The bibliometric analyses have been used widely by researchers to provide insights into current topics and identify emerging and future research in different fields. As there are challenges or barriers to the use of IoT, it is necessary for researchers to focus on this area. Various studies have discussed IoT challenges/barriers; however, a picture from such research is not accessible in terms of bibliometrics. This research, therefore, conducts a bibliometric analysis on publications that discuss IoT challenges/barriers to identify challenges most discussed in the literature. Results show that challenges/barriers to IoT usually discussed in the literature include security, privacy, trust, standards, architecture, and energy
Dynamic changes and multi-dimensional evolution of portfolio optimization
Although there has been an increasing number of studies investigate portfolio optimization from different perspectives, few
attempts could be found that focus on the development trend
and hotspots of this research area. Therefore, it motivates us to
comprehensively investigate the development of portfolio optimization research and give some deep insights into this knowledge domain. In this paper, some bibliometric methods are
utilized to analyse the status quo and emerging trends of
portfolio optimization research on various aspects such as
authors, countries and journals. Besides, âtheoriesâ, âmodelsâ and
âalgorithmsâ, especially heuristic algorithms are identified as the
hotspots in the given periods. Furthermore, the evolutionary analysis tends to presents the dynamic changes of the cutting-edge
concepts of this research area in the time dimension. It is found
that more portfolio optimization studies were at an exploration
stage from mean-variance analysis to consideration of multiple
constraints. However, heuristic algorithms have become the driving force of portfolio optimization research in recent years. Multidisciplinary analyses and applications are also the main trends of
portfolio optimization research. By analysing the dynamic changes
and multi-dimensional evolution in recent decades, we contribute
to presenting some deep insights of the portfolio optimization
research directly, which assists researchers especially beginners to
comprehensively learn this research field
