From Many-Valued Consequence to Many-Valued Connectives
Given a consequence relation in many-valued logic, what connectives can be
defined? For instance, does there always exist a conditional operator
internalizing the consequence relation, and which form should it take? In this
paper, we pose this question in a multi-premise multi-conclusion setting for
the class of so-called intersective mixed consequence relations, which extends
the class of Tarskian relations. Using computer-aided methods, we answer
extensively for 3-valued and 4-valued logics, focusing not only on conditional
operators, but on what we call Gentzen-regular connectives (including negation,
conjunction, and disjunction). For arbitrary N-valued logics, we state
necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of such connectives in a
multi-premise multi-conclusion setting. The results show that mixed consequence
relations admit all classical connectives, and among them pure consequence
relations are those that admit no other Gentzen-regular connectives.
Conditionals can also be found for a broader class of intersective mixed
consequence relations, but with the exclusion of order-theoretic consequence

Is "the theory of everything'' merely the ultimate ensemble theory?
We discuss some physical consequences of what might be called ``the ultimate
ensemble theory'', where not only worlds corresponding to say different sets of
initial data or different physical constants are considered equally real, but
also worlds ruled by altogether different equations. The only postulate in this
theory is that all structures that exist mathematically exist also physically,
by which we mean that in those complex enough to contain self-aware
substructures (SASs), these SASs will subjectively perceive themselves as
existing in a physically ``real'' world. We find that it is far from clear that
this simple theory, which has no free parameters whatsoever, is observationally
ruled out. The predictions of the theory take the form of probability
distributions for the outcome of experiments, which makes it testable. In
addition, it may be possible to rule it out by comparing its a priori
predictions for the observable attributes of nature (the particle masses, the

Real Algebraic Geometry With a View Toward Moment Problems and Optimization
Continuing the tradition initiated in MFO workshop held in 2014, the aim of this workshop was to foster the interaction between real algebraic geometry, operator theory, optimization, and algorithms for systems control. A particular emphasis was given to moment problems through an interesting dialogue between researchers working on these problems in finite and infinite dimensional settings, from which emerged new challenges and interdisciplinary applications
Classroom Environment: Content Analysis Examining Characteristics of Classroom Environments That Affect Students\u27 Academic Achievement
The purpose of this qualitative study was to extend the understanding of the characteristics of a classroom environment that impact students’ engagement in academics and therefore has the potential to positively impact student achievement scores. Data were collected through content analysis to analyze for reoccurring themes to assess how the characteristics of the classroom environment impact student’s achievement. Ten classrooms within the Kingsport City District were observed and analyzed for this study.
Six research questions guided this study, and qualitative data were analyzed for reoccurring themes. Findings from this study suggest that implementing certain characteristics in to the classroom environment can positively impact students’ academic success. The development and construction of classroom environments should include such characteristics as positive discipline, well laid out and organized classrooms, accountable talks, collaborative groups, positive teacher student interaction, and learning targets. As a result of this research a recommendation for practice is that districts support the development of classrooms that would positively impact student’s achievement
