Developing Mobile BIM/2D Barcode-Based Automated Facility Management System

    Get PDF
Facility management (FM) has become an important topic in research on the operation and maintenance phase. Managing the work of FM effectively is extremely difficult owing to the variety of environments. One of the difficulties is the performance of two-dimensional (2D) graphics when depicting facilities. Building information modeling (BIM) uses precise geometry and relevant data to support the facilities depicted in three-dimensional (3D) object-oriented computer-aided design (CAD). This paper proposes a new and practical methodology with application to FM that uses an integrated 2D barcode and the BIM approach. Using 2D barcode and BIM technologies, this study proposes a mobile automated BIM-based facility management (BIMFM) system for FM staff in the operation and maintenance phase. The mobile automated BIMFM system is then applied in a selected case study of a commercial building project in Taiwan to verify the proposed methodology and demonstrate its effectiveness in FM practice. The combined results demonstrate that a BIMFM-like system can be an effective mobile automated FM tool. The advantage of the mobile automated BIMFM system lies not only in improving FM work efficiency for the FM staff but also in facilitating FM updates and transfers in the BIM environment

A Comprehensive Study of Using 2D Barcode for Multi Robot Labelling and Communication

Multi robot is an emerging field in robotic research with surprisingly various open problems. Reports have been published stating the advantages of multi robot over conventional single robot, including reducing task completion time. One of the open problem as concentrated in this study is their communication. This study focuses on using a 2D QR barcode for robot labelling suitable for vision-based multi robot communication. The aim is to prove that QR barcode could be decoded in various distances as well as in different angles. Image sampling is done in controlled environment. A two-way ANOVA without repetition is used to analyze the image data in terms of successful QR decoding. ANOVA with significant level of critical α 0.05 is used and has justified that smallest variance at different distances and angular pose will give the best position in order to decode the respective QR barcode. Hence multi robot communication by means of labelling a QR label onto them has the possibilities for further research

Important paper-based documents Exposed to forgery such as: official certificates, birth, marriage, death certificates, selling and buying documents and other legal documents is more and more serious and sophisticated. With the purposes of fraud, appropriation of property, job application and assignment in order to swindle public authorities, this forgery has led to material loss, belief deterioration as well as social instability. There are many techniques has been proposed to overcome this issues such as: ink stamps, live signatures, documented the transaction in third party like the court or notary. In this paper, it’s proposed a feasible solution for forgery prevention for paper-based documents using cloud computing application. With the application of Quick Response bidirectional barcode and the usage of hash algorithm. The study aims at developing an electronic verification system for official and issued books (documents, endorsements, and other official books) to/from different sections of the Institute using QR technology

In cities like Nagpur, Pune and Mumbai the busses are the nerves of the city. But they are behaving as an open invitation for evil minds to do mishaps as there is no maintenance of data of passenger. The tickets cost being of odd amounts and many other different problems while buying tickets. Also in this advance world we are dependent on the paper tickets and we even cannot book the ticket in advance doesnt seems fare so here is a solution. In this proposed system ticket can be bought with just a smart phone application and, where users or passengers can issue ticket pass and carry pass tickets in his smart phone as a QR (Quick Response) code. The bus passes generating system using QR code can be brought easily any time anywhere and the ticket will be present in the passenger phone in the form of QR. Also the ticket checker is provided with a checker application to search and check for the user's ticket for checking purposes

Visual codes play an important role in automatic identification, which became an inseparable part of industrial processes. Thanks to the revolution of smartphones and telecommunication, it also becomes more and more popular in everyday life, containing embedded web addresses or other small informative texts. While barcode reading is straightforward in images having optimal parameters (fo cus, illumination, code orientation, and position), localization of code regions is still challenging in many scenarios. Every setup has its own characteristics, there fore many approaches are justifiable. Industrial applications are likely to have more fixed parameters like illumination, camera type and code size, and processing speed and accuracy are the most important requirements. In everyday use, like with smart phone cameras, a wide variety of code types, sizes, noise levels and blurring can be observed, but the processing speed is often not crucial, and the image acquisition process can be repeated in order for successful detection. In this paper, we address this problem with two novel methods for localization of 1D barcodes based on template matching and distance transformation, and a third method for QR codes. Our proposed approaches can simultaneously localize sev eral different types of codes. We compare the effectiveness of the proposed methods with several approaches from the literature using public databases and a large set of synthetic images as a benchmark. The evaluation shows that the proposed methods are efficient, having 84.3% Jaccard accuracy, superior to other approaches. One of the presented approaches is an improvement on our previous work. Our template matching based method is computationally more complex, however, it can be adapted to specific code types producing high accuracy. The other method uses distance transformation, which is fast and gives rough regions of interests that can contain valid visual code candidates

Privacy concerns in quick response code mobile promotion: The role of social anxiety and situational involvement

Drawing upon utility maximization theory, this study examines the conse-quences of quick response (QR) code mobile promotion in terms of information privacy concerns, defensive responses (intention to protect, fabricate, or withhold), and loyalty. Two contextual variables, social anxiety and situational involvement, are hypothesized as moderators. The main survey employs the scenario method with 667 general consumers in Japan. The results indicate that most of the main effects are supported for both modera-tors. There are strong interaction effects of social anxiety and situational involvement in intention to protect and intention to fabricate personal information. Our study suggests that QR code promotion is a practical and useful tool for loyalty, and its use may significantly depend on its context, whether physical or psychological. This research was funded by a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Inno-vation (National Plan for Research, Development and Innovation ECO2011-30105)

It is important to validate the Merchant and the Client to increase confidence in online transactions. At present, only the Client is checked against the merchant server. The research in this paper will show you how to create and launch a QR code-based payment system that is both secure and convenient for users. As a result of their capacity to facilitate instantaneous transactions and offer unparalleled ease of use, QR codes have seen explosive growth in the past few years. QR-based online payment systems are easy to use but susceptible to various assaults. So, for the level of security given by transaction processing to hold, the secrecy and integrity of each payment procedure must be guaranteed. In addition, the online payment system must verify each transaction from both the sender's and the recipient's perspectives. The study's QR-based method is kept safe through visual cryptography. The suggested approach takes advantage of visual cryptography via a web-based application
