    Detection And Prevention Of Types Of Attacks Using Machine Learning Techniques In Cognitive Radio Networks

    A number of studies have been done on several types of data link and network layer attacks and defenses for CSS in CRNs, but there are still a number of challenges unsolved and open issues waiting for solutions. Specifically, from the perspective of attackers, when launching the attack, users have to take into account of the factors of attack gain, attack cost and attack risk, together.  From the perspective of defenders, there are also three aspects deserving consideration: defense reliability, defense efficiency and defense universality. The attacks and defenses are mutually coupled from each other. Attackers need to adjust their strategies to keep their negative effects on final decisions and avoid defenders’ detection, while defenders have to learn and analyze attack behaviors and designs effective defense rules. Indeed, attack and defense ought to be considered together. the proposed methodology overcomes the problems of several data link and network layer attacks and it effects in CSS(Co-operative Spectrum Sensing) of CNRs using Machine Learning based Defense, Cross layers optimization techniques and Defence based Prevention mechanisms

    Defend the practicality of single-integrator models in multi-robot coordination control

    Single-integrator models have been widely used to model robot kinematics in multi-robot coordination control problems. However, it is also widely believed that this model is too simple to lead to practically useful control laws. In this paper, we prove that if a gradient-descent distributed control law designed for single integrators has been proved to be convergent for a given coordination task, then the control law can be readily modified to adapt for various motion constraints including velocity saturation, obstacle avoidance, and nonholonomic models. This result is valid for a wide range of coordination tasks. It defends the practical usefulness of many existing coordination control laws designed based on single-integrator models and suggests a new methodology to design coordination control laws subject motion constraints

    Hybrid Ventilation System and Soft-Sensors for Maintaining Indoor Air Quality and Thermal Comfort in Buildings

    Maintaining both indoor air quality (IAQ) and thermal comfort in buildings along with optimized energy consumption is a challenging problem. This investigation presents a novel design for hybrid ventilation system enabled by predictive control and soft-sensors to achieve both IAQ and thermal comfort by combining predictive control with demand controlled ventilation (DCV). First, we show that the problem of maintaining IAQ, thermal comfort and optimal energy is a multi-objective optimization problem with competing objectives, and a predictive control approach is required to smartly control the system. This leads to many implementation challenges which are addressed by designing a hybrid ventilation scheme supported by predictive control and soft-sensors. The main idea of the hybrid ventilation system is to achieve thermal comfort by varying the ON/OFF times of the air conditioners to maintain the temperature within user-defined bands using a predictive control and IAQ is maintained using Healthbox 3.0, a DCV device. Furthermore, this study also designs soft-sensors by combining the Internet of Things (IoT)-based sensors with deep-learning tools. The hardware realization of the control and IoT prototype is also discussed. The proposed novel hybrid ventilation system and the soft-sensors are demonstrated in a real research laboratory, i.e., Center for Research in Automatic Control Engineering (C-RACE) located at Kalasalingam University, India. This inevitable progress makes the airline industry challenging and forces airline companies to produce a range of solutions that increase consumer loyalty to the brand. These solutions to reduce the high costs encountered in airline operations, prevent delays in planned departure times, improve service quality, or reduce environmental impacts can be diversified according to the need. Although one can refer to past surveys, it is not sufficient to cover the rich literature of airline scheduling, especially for the last decade. This study aims to fill this gap by reviewing the airline operations related papers published between 2009 and 2019, and focus on the ones especially in the aircraft maintenance routing area which seems a promising branch

    A decentralized framework for multi-agent robotic systems

    Over the past few years, decentralization of multi-agent robotic systems has become an important research area. These systems do not depend on a central control unit, which enables the control and assignment of distributed, asynchronous and robust tasks. However, in some cases, the network communication process between robotic agents is overlooked, and this creates a dependency for each agent to maintain a permanent link with nearby units to be able to fulfill its goals. This article describes a communication framework, where each agent in the system can leave the network or accept new connections, sending its information based on the transfer history of all nodes in the network. To this end, each agent needs to comply with four processes to participate in the system, plus a fifth process for data transfer to the nearest nodes that is based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) and data history. To validate this framework, we use differential robotic agents and a monitoring agent to generate a topological map of an environment with the presence of obstacles

    Input Constrained M-MRAC for Multirotors Operating in an Urban Environment

    The paper presents a modified model reference adaptive control (M-MRAC) for multi-input multi-output nonlinear dynamical systems with time varying parametric uncertainties and bounded external disturbances. It uses a prediction model to rapidly generate adaptive estimates of the system's uncertainties with adjustable errors that converge to a small neighborhood of the origin. A sufficient condition is derived to specify the region of attraction in the space of initialization errors, design parameters and external commends. The approach is applied to thrust controlled multi-rotor air vehicles operating in an urban environment. It is shown that the designed controller can provide a good tracking of a given trajectory in the unknown urban wind field, assuming that the maximum thrust generated by the rotors is known. The performance of the algorithms are demonstrated in simulations

    A data-driven-based industrial refrigeration optimization method considering demand forecasting

    One of the main concerns of industry is energy efficiency, in which the paradigm of Industry 4.0 opens new possibilities by facing optimization approaches using data-driven methodologies. In this regard, increasing the efficiency of industrial refrigeration systems is an important challenge, since this type of process consume a huge amount of electricity that can be reduced with an optimal compressor configuration. In this paper, a novel data-driven methodology is presented, which employs self-organizing maps (SOM) and multi-layer perceptron (MLP) to deal with the (PLR) issue of refrigeration systems. The proposed methodology takes into account the variables that influence the system performance to develop a discrete model of the operating conditions. The aforementioned model is used to find the best PLR of the compressors for each operating condition of the system. Furthermore, to overcome the limitations of the historical performance, various scenarios are artificially created to find near-optimal PLR setpoints in each operation condition. Finally, the proposed method employs a forecasting strategy to manage the compressor switching situations. Thus, undesirable starts and stops of the machine are avoided, preserving its remaining useful life and being more efficient. An experimental validation in a real industrial system is performed in order to validate the suitability and the performance of the methodology. The proposed methodology improves refrigeration system efficiency up to 8%, depending on the operating conditions.     Research on micro-mobility with a focus on electric scooters within Smart Cities

    In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, an increasing number of people prefer individual single-track vehicles for urban transport. Long-range super-lightweight small electric vehicles are preferred due to the rising cost of electricity. It is difficult for new researchers and experts to obtain information on the current state of solutions in addressing the issues described within the Smart Cities platform. The research on the current state of the development of long-range super-lightweight small electric vehicles for intergenerational urban E-mobility using intelligent infrastructure within Smart Cities was carried out with the prospect of using the information learned in a pilot study. The study will be applied to resolving the traffic service of the Poruba city district within the statutory city of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The main reason for choosing this urban district is the fact that it has the largest concentration of secondary schools and is the seat of the VSB-Technical University of Ostrava. The project investigators see secondary and university students as the main target group of users of micro-mobility devices based on super-lightweight and small electric vehicles.Web of Science1310art. no. 17
